My name is Star and I'm a carb-a-holic. Yes. This is true. I have always been a big girl. The last time I remember being anything less than a size 16 was when I was in 5th grade. I played sports, had lots of friends, and was active in after-school activities. This didn't deter my size. I was a "healthy" big girl, if there is such a thing.
From the age of 12 to the age of 17, I maintained the size of 16-18. At the age of 17, I got in a car accident, which left me unable to do the normal things I would have done for a while. Add the immobility to the meds... Weight gain galore. From there it was a slippery slope. I went from 210-285 in the matter of 6 months.. And there I stayed for many years. My largest size was a 24 and highest weight was 310. That's when I decided to look into weight loss surgery.
Like most of us, I did lots of research. Though logical deduction, I chose the sleeve. This was where the fun started. I mentioned it to a few friends. Who all tried to say, "Just exercise and eat right. It will come off". So I did, for the 1000th time in my life. And yes, some weight did go off. 15lbs in 4 months. Hitting the gym at 4 am and going to work at 5:30. Then going home and taking care of my (at this time) 1 year old. Doing it all again the next day. I took that as a sign that with the gym, and knowing I can follow a semi-regimented eating plan, I should be successful with my decision. So I proceeded.
On April 18th, 2012, I went in for my surgery. I was never even scared. Was ready to see what life was like as a "normal" person who didn't have to be the jolly "fat" friend. Came out of surgery feeling ok. Went home withing 24 hours... And not one problem since. No throwing up. No complications. No restricted food. I followed the Dr's instructions to the "T" for the first 6 months without wavering. Lost from 275 on surgery date, all the way down to 182. Not bad. But we all know we want more lol.
So continued working out. Eating right... But my marriage was crumbling around me. It had been for years. And with my weight falling off, he pushed me more and more away. That's when I slipped down the slope again. Gained back up to 185 from the 167 I had hit.. (SO CLOSE TO GOAL). I left, and finally after a year later, I am ready to finish the journey with my AWESOME tool. Life is what brought me to the weight I was before... I won't let it break me again. So from a size 24 to a current size 10... I want to 6 and was an 8. From 310 down to my current 178. 18 LBS... HERE YOU GO!!!
