Hi, I was sleeved August 21st. Since surgery I have lost 34 pounds. Over the past 3 weeks I have maintained the same weight... it might go down a pound or up a pound... but it really hasn't changed. Is this normal so soon after surgery? Should I do anything to kick start it again? I am eating regular foods again, mostly protein and veggies, taking all of my vitamins and trying to exercise more.

Sleeved August 21st Lost 30 pounds pre-surgery and 32 pounds since surgery (62 pounds down!) I am eating solid foods... have tried whatever I want (healthy choices) and nothing has been a problem. A day for me is : 45 oz Water a day minimum 1/2 greek yogurt for breakfast at 7am a V-8 for a snack ( 10ish) A small salad (1 cup) (iceburg, cucumber sliced very thin and tomato) a bit of turkey or tuna on it with Fat free dressing for lunch (12:30ish) a cheese stick for a snack (3pm) a small portion of protien (beef, chciken, fish) with about 1/2 cup veggie for dinner (5:30ish) Italian ice for snack (8pmish) I get really full fast, but then am hungry within 3 hours. I am going to the gym and walking, walking walking. I feel great! I had no complications after surgery, no pain meds, no vomiting, all is good!

Should we be counting calories? I know proteins are important and I am counting those and getting as many as I can in, but I am having a difficult time eating more than about 400-550 calories a day. is that enough? I am almost 4 weeks out from surgery and try to eat enough calories, but find it tough. My protein is about 40 to 50 a day,, but that is difficult to get to unless I drink it.

Thanks everyone! I have an app on my phone too...which I have been using since well before surgery to keep track of my intake. Maybe I need to take a break from it and concentrate on protein amounts!

I had my first piece of sushi at 3 weeks.... Tuna and avocado. It was no problem. I also had a sushi grade piece of tuna seared and with a wasabi mustard dip.... and that was heaven. It was very easy on my stomach. I could only eat about 3 oz, but it was sooo good!

Has Anyone Prepped For Sleeve By Exercising Months Pre-Op?
wnnd replied to Malisima69's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I walked 2 miles a day, every day for 3 months up to my surgery and lost 30 pounds pre-surgery. My sleeve was done on Aug. 21st and I have lost another 27 pounds since! I am also back to walking 2 miles every day. I have my 30 day check up this week and then I plan on hitting the gym! -
I was sleeved Aug 21. I lost 30 pounds pre surgery and since surgery I have lost 20 more. I went back to work after 2weeks and so I plan my daily food intake accordingly. I have a protien drink for breakfast, a 1/2 chobani yogurt at about 10, about 1/2 a cup crab salad or egg white salad at noon, a v8 at 3 and for dinner I experiment. I eat fish, cooked zuchini with ricotta and sauce, etc. I need to ask my nut how many calories a day I should be getting because I am only averaging 500 - 600. I also try to walk 2 miles a day.

I drank 2 muscle milk light protein drinks a day for 3 weeks pre-surgery. They are lactose free...so I didn't have to pop an enzyme everytime I drank one. Loved the chocolate.... the vanilla not so much! I couldn't drink the EAS brand.... they tasted chalky and tinny to me. Funny how we all have different tastes. I do like the designer whey powder though.

. I tried ading Protein powder to my coffee and it appeared to curdle! It was lumpy and looked like cottage cheese in my coffee.... is there a trick to adding it to the coffee?
-
use egg whites only - hard boiled. I use miricle whip.... just a tiny bit. Right now can't have raw onion so I use onion powder and some mustard to flavor it up.

I am one of the freaky ones.... I experienced virtually no pain. My Doc did a great job of removing most of the gas they pumped in me and said that I flew through surgery. I started walking the day of surgery.... 5 days after surgery I walked a mile and have been walking a mile every day since. Hard to explain why everyone is so different.... but we are.... so like everyone said, listen to your body and take the pain meds as needed, It can only get better!

what part of Maine are you in? I just moved from Maine to Southern NH.

I completely understand! my surgeon is allowing me to have cream based Soups and yogurts (with no chunks of fruit) so I have a bit of a choice....

Gnc Total Lean, Carnation Instant Breakfast, Sugar-Free Jello
wnnd replied to Angelmom's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I am 5 days out and having sugar free carnation instant breakfast, sugar free jello and puddings, cream soups (strained if needed), plain yougurt with strained fruit (or natural no sugar added peach sauce, apple sauce, etc) I can have small curd cottage cheese too. For protien drinks I really like the designer whey brand powder and Akins. -
I had my surgery on the 21st. I have been lucky! I was up and walking the same day, my pain level hasn't gone above a 2 (if that) and I have had worse cramps I think. My question is.... is it normal to not feel hungry or even full? I am eating the 2 ounces of recommended food 5 times a day, but I could take it or leave it... I don't feel hungry and after eating I don't feel full. Is that normal? Thanks!

Thanks everyone! I am so grateful that I feel so good so soon. It can onlyget better from here!

Recovery Room Pain Level?
wnnd replied to slimthickens's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't the surgeons remove the gas that they pump in? Wouldn't that make it less uncomfortable? -
Making It Through The Shakes.
wnnd replied to mjrevel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same thing.... started the protein shakes 2 months before I needed to. I wanted to experiment and find the right powder/drink. I am now "officially" on the 7 day pre-op diet of 2 shakes and a light dinner diet and it is a breeze! -
Any August 21St Sleevers?
wnnd replied to MrzPhillips's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also scheduled for the 21st in Boston, Ma. area. Let the journey begin! I am on a 7 day 2 protein shakes a day and a small dinner diet. -
I started the sleeve process at the end of April and just got my surgery date for August 21st! Insurance approved and ready to go!
-
I'm new here too..... just had my first visit to the surgeon. My insurance doesn't require the 6 month precertification, but I am certain it will be a journey! My surgeon is out of Wellseley Newton hospital in the Boston area and he has a good strong background in sleeve surgery. I met with a nutritionist and psychiatrist as well as the surgeon. They asked me to lose 5 pounds (that seemed like a small amount of weight to lose) in the next month, keep a food journal, cut out soda completely, exercise 20-30 minutes a day and attend at least 2 more group meetings. I have another appointment on June 1st and I was told that if I do well, they will set a date. Very excited!!
