Does anyone know of a tourism company that arranges trips to Thailand, Vietnam, etc for the purpose of being fitted and having custom clothes made? Something along the line of the medical tourism company but to help you with a tailor. I would love to take a vacation and come home with clothes that actually fit.

2 1/2 Months Out And I Finally Understand!
beefalogal posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My sleeve journey has been so smooth that I am embarrassed to talk about it! Never been nauseous, very little pain, no adverse reaction to any food. Life is very good but I seemed to be able to eat plenty of calories each day, woke up looking forward to my diluted orange juice and vanilla protein shake (tasted just like creamsicyles from my childhood), greek yougurt with my chia seeds, marina sauce on my spaghetti squash, etc. Everything was great but I realized that I was eating too many calories even tho it was mainly protein. I had hit a plateau in my weightloss but was not gaining any back. I gave up my wonderful breakfast protein shake, my Greek yougurts with the chia seeds and went back to real food. I have been traveling so yesterday and today I had black beans, chicken, brown rice, cottage cheese, avocado and I finally feel the too full sensation. I must say that I am relieved to feel it! Was beginning to wonder if I was always going to be able too eat so easily. Can not weigh myself until I get home in a couple of days but so hope to see some downward movement on the scale. Rock on everyone! -
Semptember 20Th Sleevers?
beefalogal replied to gorjess907's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I hear you! I have slipped into some poor habits. Will get back to tracking my food at least for a start. My exercise needs to be more strenuous than the walking that I am doing. Lost 47 but have another 47 to go! I have not lost in at least 3 weeks. -
Christmas Day Challenge!
beefalogal replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanksgiving challenge was a hit and miss. I did not get to weigh until Monday morning ans I weighed exactly what I weighed before I left on my one week visit back with my family. I only weigh in the morning, fabric free, and on my own scale so had no idea how I was doing over Thanksgiving. Here are my new plans: day of surgery: Sept 20, 2012 highest weight: 243 current weight: 196 Christmas goal: 190 -
Thanksgiving Day Challenge
beefalogal replied to AKSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will not be able to weigh in until Sunday morning but just being careful in the meantime. Whatever my results are I will still need to come up with a Christmas challenge. Rock on everyone! -
I never had the band but I was diagnosed with type 2 about ten years ago. I had progressed to taking glypicide twice a day, 1000 mg of metform in twice a day, and 45 units of lantus at bedtime. Surgery was 9/20 and I m off all three. Had an A1c last week and it was 5.8. Yippee!

I need to begin my walking routine. I live in the country so need shoes appropriate for gravel roads. I will probably use poles or walking sticks as well as my balance is not te best. Thanks

bubles089 are you on BP meds? If so they may have become too strong for you with your weight loss. My meds have been dramatically reduced since losing 45 pounds. My surgery was 9/20/12.

Thanksgiving Day Challenge

surgery date: 9/20/2012 start weight: 243 current weight: 201.7 Thanksgiving goal: 195 goal weight: around 140 height: 5'5" I better do something quick. I have been at 198 for quite some time now. Just came home from a long walk. Feels like I should have sweated off at least 3 pounds!!!! -
Just had my quarterly visit with my PCP. My A1c is 5.8!!!! And that is with no meds compared to the 3 meds I was taking before surgery 9/20 and still not managing it well. High blood pressure is being managed with 50 mg of Toprol and 5 mg of Lisinipril. Pre surgery I was on 75 mg of Toprol and 40 mg of Lisinipril. On his scale I have lost 45 pounds since my last visit in July. I can not believe that I am saying this but I am proud of my results!!! Wish I would have known about this years ago.

OK everyone, it is two months later and surgery done a month ago and I just finished a 2 mile walk in about 45 minutes. Not going to win any trophies at that rate but excellent for me! The local group has a 10K planned for April and I am actually planning on walking it. Of course, it really is not a walk/run but I don't mind coming in last as long as I finish. It is a trail like I walk every day - gravel, up and down hill - and I have a few months to keep at it. The shoes are working out great!

Yeah! Make room on the bench for me. I hit onederland sometime this week as well. When I came home from my 4 day work trip I was 198.1!!!!!! Now I need to look up what I wrote for my Thanksgiving Challenge and see how close I am!

Surgery was 9/20 and have been feeling well. We decided that since DH was leaving for Africa on Sunday we would spend the day together as a family at the fair in Waco TX. Our two grandsons (10 and 8) each invited a friend to join them. I wanted to be sure that my clothes would be comfortable for the day and chose a blouse tha5 I have not been able to wear in several years. I just realized that I really skipped this size as there is more cleavage showing than I have ever had. Means that I will be adjusting my blouse all day. Not a bad problem to have!

Clearing Out The Closet
beefalogal replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Immediately. If it was too big it went straight to the Goodwill pile. I did not find any 16s pants in my closet. I must have gotten rid of them in a mad fit some time back. Have a dozen size 14 pants but they are still a little tight. Hope I pass through the 16s fast! -
Embarrassing to admit but first week out I sharted red jello. Nearly passed out from fright. Fortunately I was at home and hubby was there. I have not had red jello since and yes it was sugar free.

Bm Schedule And Fiber- Am I Going Enough?
beefalogal replied to chad2rad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
how soon did you add the chia seeds. I have stockpiled them but I am only a month out. Is that too soon? Yesterday was my first day to eat off the general economy as I went back to work and that means airports and hotels. I was dreading it but it was not as bad as I expected. -
How long before you were done with the diabetes meds, etc. I am almost 4weeks out and still shoot 15 units of lantus when the blood glucose goes over 160 when I test. Is there still hope for me? I will be so disappointed if I do not get off my meds.

Reading some of Michael Pollan's books will do that to you as well. The Omnivore's Dilemna and the Rules for Eating were very interesting.

Over 60 And Ready
beefalogal replied to Justsleevin49's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 63 and was sleeved on 9/20. I have diabetes II, hypertension, high trigylcerides, bad cholesteral, sleep apnea, arthritis, etc. My goal in this is to eliminate all those 'lifestyle' meds. ( I do know that some of the diseases are not necessarily caused by lifestyle but I never gave them a chance to get better by improving my diet and exercise). My need for glypicide (sp), metformin and 45 units of lantus each day as been reduced to 15 units of lantus when my reading is over 160. I take my blood pressure twice daily and only twice have I needed to take my metropol. I won't know about the A1c, tris, and cholesteral until October 29 when I have my next lab draw. The neurotin has been eliminated as well but I did notice some hand pain and stiffness this morning. Hoping that is short term. Mostly feel good but have had some episodes of pain that they believe are gall bladder related. Trying to hold off on a scan in hopes that it will resolve itself. Best of luck to you. I have no regrets and will feel even better if I can completely empty the pill box except for Vitamins, etc. -
I'll be watching this thread closely myself. Last night was quite a night and I am blaming gallbladder without any other ideas. Right side, front and back, spasms that felt like a tsunami, could not take a deep breath. No nausea or bowel issues however. The clinic is trying to get my local hospital to schedule a scan here so that I do not have to drive the 3.5 hours back to Trophy Club. Stay in touch.
