Nuclear Stress Test - Why And What To Expect
beefalogal replied to scorpion509's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Scorpion I understand your worry. It happened to me as well. I was totally in shock as I expected to ace the stress test. I was able to get in about 7days later. Went to the clinic and they started off with an IV placed. I am still in a daze at that point and did not question it. When I got back to the room with the tread mill I overheard them talking that I needed the nuclear version. I asked why and they said that the bariatric clinic had told them I was unble to do the physical test. That was baloney to I elected do the physical test. It did make for a long three minutes on the treadmill but I did fine. They did manage to sneak in a carotid artery test. Sometimes I think that they take advantage when one has insurance. Just my opinion on that. You will do fine. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. -
Unexpected Trip... Can't Take Shakes W/me. Need Help!
beefalogal replied to Geechee Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do not travel internationally often but I have never had any trouble getting a small baby powder in my carry on. Even if they did test it for explosives it would not trigger. Find some good tasting (to you) Protein powder and do not sweat it. At the moment I am enjoying unjury. I picked up some rice Protein Powder at a whole foods and it was gritty. I can drink it in a pinch but would not buy it again. Hope the trip is for a happy reason!!!! -

I will be on lifting restrictions for 4 to 6 weeks. I travel for work and the suitcase pretty much cancels that. I am sure that it will be expected that I travel earlier but even if hubby loads the suitcase in the car I will have to lift out and put it in and out of the rent car.

Is there a thread already for September 2012 sleevers? I am scheduled for Sept 20 with Dr. D Kim at Trophy Club. I had my endoscopy done locally yesterday and still need a clearance from a Cardiologist. They attempted to do it at Dr. Kim's office but for some reason they felt it needed to be finished by a cardiologist. Darn! I am scared but I am also so tired of my blood glucose levels flip floping around. Woke up last ***ht to a 53. Probably a reaction to the endoscopy because I did not take the lantus yesterday evening due to low calories all day. Figuring out how to control the glucose levels while on the liquid diet will be interesting. Any advice from those that have already accomplished this? weight loss is a fine thing but my main reason for doing the surgery is the hope of better control of the diabetes.

Patrick -- Updates?
beefalogal replied to Spirit Fire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been wondering how he is doing as well. He is an inspiration to many. -
Finished my last NUT class today and at the end of the class I was to take my stress test. My blood glucose has been very irradict lately and I was bottoming out so had to postpone the test long enough to get it back up. The tech finished hooking up the wires to run the test and he noticed an unusual heart beat. He called the cardiologist in charge and they decided that I would have to go to the cardiolgist for clearance. They did agree to submit my paper work for approval. Rats! another holdup. The blood glucose did not impact the test according to the tech but still wondering about that.

Has any one gone to Dr. Kim that live outside the Colleyville area? I live about 150 miles South and wondering how long I need to plan on staying in a hotel. Also, what is his pre op diet like? I finish up my BEND classes this Thursday and have my edg next Thursday. That should be the last of the requirements - both Aetnas and Dr. Kim's. I am 5' 5" and currently 230. -
Weigth/clothes Sizes Ratio?
beefalogal replied to KikiCC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clothes shopping is so frustrating. I hate to go to stores so most of my shopping is done on line. I just ordered a wonderful denin coverup in a size 2X and when it came it might fit what I imagine a size 12 would wear. Darn. It was a new vendor for me - Northstyle. Their catalog has some awesome clothes but if the coverup is an indication of sizing it will be my last time to order. -
Threading is a new term to me. Can you explain please?

Can Any One Share Dr. Kim's Poe Op Diet?
beefalogal posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am close o finishing my insurance and clinic requirements. I forgot to ask at my last nutrition class what his ore op diet consists of or possibly avoids. -
Is 15 pounds the typical restriction for one month? I am getting close to a date myself and was hoping to go back to work at a couple of weeks. My work requires travel and I will never be able to limit mt suitcase to 15 pounds.

I am with Dr. Kim as well. Amazing! I m glad to know that it can be negotiated to go out of network. I have been worried about the limited time that he practices at Trophy Club. -

What Percent Of Body Fat To Aim For?
beefalogal posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just purchased the fabulous scale by fit bit. It gives % body fat and it changes slightly on each weigh in. What should I be shooting for? -
I am still having to delete the app and reload frequently on the ipad.

Thanks for all the great advice. I am working in Cinncy this week and took time to go the The Running Spot. Got fixed up with appropriate socks for diabetics and ome great shoes. They are a half size bigger than I would have ordered on line it was what was recommended. Can't wait for the weekend at home and hit my gravel road. I did not buy the trekking pole but will get hubby to fix me up with a walking stick. I do not trust my balance on rocks.

Just caught the end of this thread because I was yahooing Dr. Kelly. It directed me to "alighterme" but no mention of the doc on that sight. If someone were to fill out the info request on alighterme sight it is doubtful that Dr. Kelly to Omar would even get the message. Much better to use the phone.
