How Long Before I Can Stand Pressure On My Tummy?
beefalogal posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sleeved on 9/20. I need o go back to work on Monday and I can not stand any pressure on my tummy. I have been wearing my elastic waist pants and choosing ones that will stay up but have plenty of space in the waist. I have been wearing my grown up work clothes for several hours a day but the panty hose ( tmi I know) and pants with defined waist and tucked in blouse is very uncomfortable after a couple hours. Any one here just have to just suck it up and wear it? If so, how long does it take? -

I am fine in my knock around clothes. It is just the dress up stuff. -
How Long Before I Can Stand Pressure On My Tummy?
beefalogal replied to beefalogal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did major cleaning of my closet today and tried on many clothes. The skirts (size 16 - 18) are very loose in the waist and I can maybe stand a blouse tucked in them. I am thinking about getting some thigh high hose. I have tried them in the past and I did not like them as well as the panty hose but I may buy a pair and give them a try. I also have 4 insect bites on my trunk that are itching like heck. I have been using a spray on them. -

thanks for the heads up! I recently had to change passwords to stop some phishing attempts. -
I had just picked up some sticks today as well. This afternoon I was just above trace but I think the morning void is the most telling if I remember correctly. I can not get my teeth clean either -- so fuzzy feeling.

Dr David Kim Colleyville
beefalogal replied to berthaeaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my EDG done in my home town (about 3.5 hours from Trophy Club Hospital) and was told that I had one but I just assumed that it was a small one. Dr. Kim and his team said that it was large and old. Not sure how they tell how old the hernia is but glad that it got repaired. I have had very few bad days since the surgery. -
Dr David Kim Colleyville
beefalogal replied to berthaeaster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 9/20/12 and have done very well. He had to fix a large hernia during the surgery so my time in OR was increased by about an hour. He is very conservative about his pre and post op diets but it was worth it to have the successful outcome that I had. I have Aetna insurance and his requirements seem to be more than what Aetna requires. The psych visit and NUT was insurance driven but I don't think the EDG and sleep study necessarily were. My local PCP was very pleased with the pre op requirements but my co pays were as much as it would have cost me to go out of the country for the surgery. I strongly considered leaving for it but I took the advice of my PCP and I have no regrets. I am still on FMLA until Wednesday. Not sure that i am ready to go back to the work that I do but I guess I will find out next week. Good luck to you. -
Are Any Of You Stii Using Your Cpap?
beefalogal posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought that I had researched carefully but hear two things I missed: 1. No one ever told that I could not use my Cpap machine after surgery. I am very attached to mine. I always use it for maps even. This did not come Dr. Kim's office but from the nurses checking me out. Any one else get this advice? 2. I bought some Tylenol pm but completely forgot about the powdering of all medicines. Wish I would have been smart enough to buy a mortar and pestle. -
I am no expert in text talk but I always thought it stood for dear hubby.

I loved water prior to surgery but now it does not sit as well. I have been drinking a lot of green tea. Especialli since I found green tea with mango at HEB. sf of course. I have been counting towards my water. is that acceptable?

Bariware - Portable Portion Control For Us!
beefalogal replied to delta_girl's topic in Food and Nutrition
Just ordered one along with the insulated case. Wish it did not say bariware on it! -
I have read the label carefully and no caffeine listed. I have learned my lesson with root beer for the grand kids. Bought the wrong brand by mistake.

Suggested Read For C-Pap/bi-Pap Users
beefalogal replied to IrishEyes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The day I left the hospital the nurses casually mentioned not to use my Cpap any more. I was shocked due to not hearing anyone mention that before. I did manage to go without for several days but really missed the quality of sleep it provided. I emailed the doc and was told I could use it if I needed it but they preferred that I not use it. I compromised by using an older machine that I have that Is programmed to 8 rather than my new setting of 11. So far good. -
Eas Advantage Carb Control Protein Drinks

What is the protein amount in them? -
I travelled 3.5 hours to work with Dr. Kim. He made me crazy with all the pre requisites but I went into surgery with no calms. Because of my insurance I had to use Trophy Club buy the staff there were great to me and my husband. He spent the night in the hospital and they were as concerned about his comfort as mine. THe most uncomfortable items are going to happen at any hospital or with any doctor. The nothing by mouth until after the leak test was hideous. I had brought a mouth pray to keep my mouth feeling moist but they would not let me use it. Just grit your teeth and put up with it until it is 'legal' and ou will not be regretful. Just my two cents worth!

I Tucked My Shirt In Today
beefalogal replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Way to go. How far out from surgery are you? I am 12 days and my tummy is still so swollen I hate to wear underwear unless I am leaving the house. Pants are big on me but I hate the pressure on my tummy. -
When Did You Return Back To Work Post Op?
beefalogal replied to N/A's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery was 9/20 and today I hurt more than I did a week ago. My FMLA papers arrived in the mail and I am surprised to find that Dr. Kim has me going back to work on 10/10. I am not looking forward to getting on a plane and being gone from home for 4 or 5 days at a time. I was expecting at least 4 weeks. We will see how it goes. -
I am 8 days post op and had my clinic visit this morning. I am down 16 pounds since surgery. I was very proud of myself for being so compliant with the diet (and that is not typical for me to be compliant!) but come to find out only now am I to add back the Bari shakes with almond milk. I have been making those since about 3 days post op. I confessed to my slice of cantaloupe made into a smoothie and they were not real impressed with that. Oh well, my recovery is going strong and for another week I get to have what I have had for most of this week. Minus the cantaloupe smoothie! It is OK to add strained, cream soup. No regrets about the surgery. In fact, I go long stretches where I forget I had it and think I am still waiting for it!

Your Scariest/funniest Moment In Your Journey Of Vsg
beefalogal posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had a near heart failure yesterday but can look back with humor today thanks to dear hubby. Surgery was 9/20/12 so not quite a week out and recovery has seemed unbelievably easy. Still on liquids with protein added, jello and frozen SF Blue Bell bullets. Not necessarily happy with that choice but I am doing my best to be compliant. Yesterday was red jello day and for those of you who have been through the post surgery diet you will understand what I mean when I say -- Do Not Trust Farts!. I felt the need to 'pass air' so was hurrying as fast as I am able to the bathroom but did not get there in time. I literally had red fluid running down my legs, my underwear went straight to the trash. Fortunately hubby was home so when I cried out that I was 'bleeding' he came running. I literally thought that I was bleeding out. There was that much red goo to deal with. Calm Jerry just said, Weren't you eating red jello today? My mind had not gone there. It had run straight to disaster and how was I going to explain this to the small rural ER that we have in this hometown. When my heart rate returned to normal, I sprayed with peroxide and no chemical action occured so I knew that Jerry was correct in that it was only red jello. I believe I will pass on the rest of my red jello packages. What is your story? -
I did hear from her today. Nausea and pain better controlled but struggling with the protein.

My Friend Died Last Night - Complications Of Sleep Apnea
beefalogal replied to Catracks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Sept 20 with Dr. D Kim. When released from the hospital the next day the nurses casually mentioned not o use my Cpap. I was shocked but complied until I was abl to get an email off to doc on Mon. They responded that they preferred to not use it while healing but if I needed it it was ok to use it. I did use it for the next night but I have to say I did notice more abdominal pressure the next morning. I have compromised and used my older machine with a lower pressure. I am more cautious with it now and do not use it for every nap that I take. Thanks for reminding us about the importance of it. -
