Are Anybody Elses Incisions Still Obvious 3Months Post-Op?
txdee replied to O.T.R. sleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine look just like that and i'm 3 months out. I've used the scar sheets, Mederma and Bio OIl - they still look the same, but I still use the Mederma every day. I am at the point where I just accept them, I have no plans to wear a bikini at my age. -
I've had plantar fascities and torn achilles heal - latter is worse! For it I did acupuncture and Arnica gel. Went to podiatrist, he wanted me to wear huge boot that just was not practical - for me. Actually, staying off of it for a while helps as much as anything, it just takes time to heal. For both ailments, there are splint things you can wear at night that help some. I think there is a catalog called Foot Source or something like that; google websites that specialize or even Amazon carries some stuff. Also, with torn achilles heal, you need special tennis shoes from now on that provide stabilization. I hurt mine doing Zumba! But also common with basketball and tennis, etc. (quick sideways motion). It's hard to self-diagnose foot problems!

He's my surgeon and he and his PA are awesome - but I was self-pay, so I don't know how it works with ins. Good luck to you! -

Freinds...how Many Of Us Have Them?
txdee replied to Jolie_KeMi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One thing for sure can be said about WLS, you find out who your friends are!! That's worth a few bucks! I think we've all "been there, done that". I've sure motivated my already skinny friends to go on a diet to make sure I don't weigh less than them! I love that pre-surgery phrase from friends, "Can't you just go another diet?" Why, because all the ones I've gone on thus far have worked SO well?? -
Help Pls Need Advice !
txdee replied to Ready2Bthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unjury has an unflavored powder that you can add to soups or fruit juices. That and beef broth were the two things that got me through the liquid stage. Good luck! -
Sorry to read this, I hope it is of some comfort that so many people are praying for you. Please do keep us posted!

Help! Will I Be Able To....
txdee replied to futureskinnypants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I sure wouldn't plan anything like that so soon. My instructions were to not ride in a car over an hour without getting out and walking around due to clotting. That in itself would be a big deterrent. -

Surgery In The Morning And I'm Not Ready!

No laxatives for me, but EVERY dr. is different, so that would be your source to find out if you do or not. -
Surgery In The Morning And I'm Not Ready!
txdee replied to wannabeeskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, it's normal to feel that way! Two nights before surgery, I was about 50% sure I'd back out. I posted on another forum and asked for help and when I woke up the next morning, I had all kinds of reassurance, and I felt better from there on in. Also, I kept going over all the reasons I NEEDED a sleeve. We're human, surgery is scary, it's normal! Best of luck to you and all the others being sleeved this coming week! -
So sorry to hear of your ordeal - positiveness and prayers going up - please keep us posted.
-
Hmmm....interesting. I am too newly sleeved to comment, but I am curious - wouldn't you have to chew the heck out of a raw carrot to swallow it after the sleeve?
-
I specifically asked my doctor; he said the odds are one in ten that a WLS patient will have gallbladder issues.

June 2012 Sleevers Post Op Check In
txdee replied to robin33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 06/05, what a difference a week makes! I would say that I made a bit of progress each day. Probably still not getting in all required fluids, but seem to sip, sip, sip as much as I can. Have no idea if I've lost any weight, I don't have a scale right now. Looking forward to mushies in two weeks! I wish a quick recovery to all who have been sleeved and wish the best to all the rest of June sleevers who are pre-op. -
Is there one or two places online or otherwise where I can go and buy a variety of what I will need to sustain me pre and post op? Of course, samples would be good, or smaller quantities because I know my taste may change post op.

Weight Loss Surgery Stigma
txdee replied to StrangelyNormal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Easy??? It's the hardest thing I've EVER done related to weight loss and I've only just begun the WLS journey, but have been dieting for 50 years. WLS is not for sissies! The person who made that comment on Youtube is probably the same moron who gives "that look" when a fat person walks into a restaurant. I say %$@*^ them! -
How Do You Determine Your Goal Weight?
txdee replied to need2change's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about the same as you, only 56 years old. I can't imagine weighing 145! 195 is my first goal, then 175, then we'll see after that. I may eat my words (because you know I won't be eating much else!), but I can't foresee weighing 145! I want to find a balance; I want to be healthy but not starve myself; I'm looking for a happy medium. My dr. quoted me 90 pound loss, as a ballpark figure. -
I probably wouldn't do that, but on the other hand, I don't see anything wrong with it at all as long as you don't get discouraged when there is no change. After all, it's not immoral, illegal OR fattening!!
-
I will, but my surgery isn't until next week!
-
I've been on it almost a week now; none of it is fun, but the first few days are heck - but it does get better. I'd say don't skimp on the protein or any other part of it that you are allowed to have.

Surgery Failed Today!
txdee replied to Sleeve-A-Licious's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Several people have mentioned cutting out sodas, by that I assume you mean diet sodas? Does anyone know if drinking diet sodas has anything to do with shrinking the liver? NUT said it was OK, and knowing I can't have them post-op, I have been drinking up my stash! -
