I haven't tried them because the main ingredient is propylene glycol. Propel has the least artificial junk in it among the products available to me.

Bake day old, dried bread in the oven with your choice of spices and you have a crunchy substitute

It tends to stimulate hunger, too.

If I feel too hungry, it's hard for me to fall asleep. Warm milk works both if you tolerate it

Quinoa for breakfast: cinnamon, cardamom, nuts or raisins with SF flavored syrups on top.

What Are You Looking Forward To?
K33 replied to note2bear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
**Not having to say I''m sorry when I try to squeeze past someone in a narrow aisle, and end up bumping into them **shopping for bras online that have the size cup I wear **Being able to sit up in in bed without having to rock my body up so I can hoist my legs over the edge to create ensure momentum to get out of the bed successfully. **Keeping my floors clean because it's not a major aerobics exercise to bend over to pick up things **after a blind date when I am told there's no chemistry, NOT wondering if it's really because I am morbidly obese. **Not having to describe myself on Match. Com as being "full figured." ** ** never having to shop in the Avenue or Lane Bryant. and being forced to buy polyester instead of silks and and rayon. Being able to sit directly on the floor to meditate in satsang. Throwing out my pair of $ 200 custom orthotics because my Feet no longer hurt. **No longer having to order shoes in double wide. Being strong enough to keep up on a 5 mile Sierra Club hike And lastly, enjoy inhabiting my new body. and feeling proud of my hard work. -
I am happy for you that you have internalized listening to your body for true hunger clues coupled with incorporating good habits. You are amazing

Wow thank you so much for your head up on candida and surgery. I did a little investigation and discovered how critical it can be. Most western physicians don't understand canada unless there is an infection after surgery. Unfortunately they give an -ozole drug which just stops the symptoms but doesn't kill the fungus. Why is it is diagnosed I'll go on a round of probiotics, fungus killers and a low carb diet. I am relieved to know this could be a problem so that I can take action.

Does anyone own these boards think they may have candida? I Suspect I do because I crave carbs everyday, Am fatigued and have depression as well as brain fog and poor concentration. I am not going to go into detail about candida treatment other than to say that a food plan limitng carbohydrates is highly encouraged. This reminds me of the post up food plans.

I am wondering after the initial weight drop-- say about 6 months out --is losing weight for you easier than it was before your operation? Or, for any of you, did it feel as if you are on a diet again? I read on the forums that people talk about their weight creeping back up. Since I am no saint, it could happen to me also. How do you define vsg as a " tool? " Does it give you a head start on your weight loss for 6 months before normal hunger returns? Many of us on the boards and I include myself have an eating disorder..... binge eater or overeater. I understand ahead of time that the hard emotional work connected with food obssession and cravings must be done. By Using the method of intuitive eating I have maintained my obese weight for about 3 years. I have not tried to diet in that time. Naturally getting to my pre surgery go weight on a food plan is quite a shock to my system. I Get closer everyday. Some days I am sure I want to proceed and other days I cannot imagine Feeling this hungry in the future.

Less Need For Antidepressant In Post-Ops?
K33 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you were taking anti depressants pre-op, have you found less need for the medicines post op? This does not include changes from XR to Regular absorption meds, or a change in your medicine schedule. But, have you felt less depressed after surgery? I know it's possible PO to feel a let down 6-12 months out, and am not really talking about that either. . I gained 50# in the throws of my depression, probably from carb craving that comes when I am depressed. Yet I was taking medication, too. Hard to get a straight answer from the medical field about to what extent anti depressants provoke weight gain, so I am turning for answers to my VSG buddies. Naturally you may have guessed I take antidepressant medication pre-op. Not counting the mood lift and feeling the thrill of being thin (which could wear off once the reality day to day of living sets in 2-3 years out), I am hoping to take less anti depressants when I am years out as well. What is your experience? Does anyone have research sources about this topic? -
Rudi's bread toasted is tasty (kept in the freezer at health food stores). Also Udi's bread @ Trader Joes. Both run around $5 a loaf.

Did You Or Are You Keeping Your Sleeve A Secret?
K33 replied to letsdothis!!!'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am pre op and approaching my surgery weight but do not have a surgery date. I still go back and forth depending on the kind of day I'm having with my food plan. Once I have decided and get a firm surgery date I will tell my relatives who I hope will come stay with me for a few days. I feel a certain amount of embarrassment and shame having to go this route so have not told anyone else. It's only in my own mind that I fear friends won't be supportive. I guess I still have certain amount queasiness about giving away part of my stomach ;-/ -
1 Year Out An Its Not Good.
K33 replied to Skinnyagain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am pre-op with 4# before I can get a date. Hearing what happens 2-3 years out causes me concern, too. In fact so much so I wonder if I will have the vsg surgery at all. Seems like a big sacrifice for uncertain benefits. Hope I don't put a damper on this post. Forgive me. I am wondering if I have the stamina and patience for this marathon journey. Why did you want surgery in the first place? -
Room For Veggies/full Feeling Down The Road
K33 replied to bnorms's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pre op and following a 1200 calorie plan provided by my dietitian. I average between 50 and 90 grams of Protein per day. When I do the math and I eat 600 calories post op, that is only 25 - 45 grams of protein per day. I guess I worry about eating mostly protein at every meal for a solid year? I am not sure I can stomach that. However I have read on this forum there are people who tried to eat a balanced food. -
Medicare will not cover VSG as reported in Bariatric Times online dated April 16, 2012.

I am pre op was 3 pounds to go before I need my case manager. Kaisers pre op food plan only includes foods I will be allowed to eat post op, therefore giving me and my body a chance to adjust. The last 2 days my 1200 calorie diet is not adequate. It is not staving off my hunger or craving for carbohydrates. I am sticking to the plan but eating more of the prescribed foods I am allotted. The exception is sugar free chocolate bars I have only been on the pre op diet for 3 weeks and already I can't bear the thought of 3 servings of Protein in the morning. I confess I sort of miss the highs and lows created by carbohydrate overload and resulting in of a blood sugar crash in.which I end up falling asleep. Wow, that is a personal secret the way I have used it as a drug. I hope you can relate. I know post up when I feel restriction I won't feel as hungry but today I am doubting my ability to move forward and give up : Drinking liquid with my meal s Gobbling a mini scone when I am hungry Foregoing club soda And heating anything substantial the first 3 months post op Would love to hear your experience with these or other related issues

Vanity, Mental, Health -- Percentages Of Each Regarding My Decision
K33 replied to HondaCivicDude's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My world has gotten smaller the heavier I've gotten so I stay indoors and restrict my activities. I am 61 with sleep apnea and that is the only medical illness I have related to my obesity. And I want it to stay that way. As I mentioned before on earlier boards, I want to be active in my golden years. I have been unemployed off and on for 3 years and think that my weight has something to do with that. So in summary I would say the following percentages: Mobility, activity level: 30% Employability: 40% Pride/confidence: 30%. Thank you for posing the question. -
Do you know any wls patients who attend OA or Food Addicts Anonymous to address head hunger?

Did You Quit Coffee? If So, How?
K33 replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cut my coffee with 50% decaff so it is still dark and strong without as much punch! ( I changed my way of eating 3 wks ago and don't surg date yet.) -
Altho I am pre-op, I have practiced mindful eating and as a result discovered *my* clue that I am full is that I take a deep breath or exhale a sigh of relief during my meal.

Does your shaker have a spherical - type whisk ball that helps to mix it up? If you need portablity, cooking stores have battery powered hand whiskers for creating foam in latte drinks. You can get these online.
