    NJ October 2008 thread

ugh it seems that weight is a problem for most of the ladies here on the NJ thread :-( mine is not going up but its not going down either I am stuck at 191-193 for the past few months. I know I did it to myself for a while because I was picking on the wrong things but I have finally gotten myself back together or at least I hope I am back. So hopefully the scale will be my friend next time I step on it. I know I will not hit my 1 year goal but I am still pretty happy with where I am at right now. I know I will hit that goal soon and then it will be time to set a new one. I go back for my 1 year follow up next month so I will ask my doctor what weight he thinks I should be at....we never discussed that. I am also going to ask him where my damn port is beause I still cant find it - not that I really search for it.

I am almost a year out and 86 pounds down and I still have no idea where my port is! I have not really went searching for it but I have felt around a little bit and cant feel anything. I go for my 1 year check up in a few weeks so I will be sure to ask my doctor where it is.

    This is BS

hi!! please dont give up! 17lbs lost is better then 17lbs gained. have you tried talking to a nutritionist or keeping a journal of what you are eating? maybe you are not eating things that will keep you full longer and that is why you get hunger? sorry i dont have much advise but just keep strong and you can make it work
  8. If your specialist has not requested you go back to see him then I dont see why you should. I am almost a year out and still have not had a fill so it is possible for it to work without a fill. Im sure I will need a fill eventually and I have been thinking about one for about a month now but Im still losing so I dont think its needed yet.
  9. hi! I also had alot of problems with the taste and smell of Protein drinks or powders. Lots of money went down the drain while searching for a "good" one that I never did find. I drink Slim Fast Low Carb which has 20grams of protein in it. It took me a few days to get use to it because its thicker then Water so it was a little weird but I have been drinking it for almost a year now and I actually look forward to the time of day that I drink it. I would run it past your doctor first but if he is ok with it then in my opinion I think its a good alternative.

congrats on your first fill and your great weight loss!!!
  12. I have Horizon BCBS of NJ and had no problems with my approval. I did do the 6 month diet before I even met with my surgeon. I had heard that the insurance required it when I attended another surgeons seminar and figured why not get it done while I am still in the research process. I got my approval from the insurance in about 1 week which was a shock to me good luck

    NJ October 2008 thread

Hi myturn!!! I love Dr Bertha and I go for my 1 year follow up next month so im excited but nervous. I too thought I escaped the gas pains but about a week after surgery I was mixing cookie dough by hand and it must have stirred up the gas because I had the worst pain in my shoulder for a few days after that. I kept a heating pad on it and kept myself moving and it really did help. good luck with your journey if you have any questions please post them here these ladies are the best!!!
