Please dont send the monkeys out for me!!! I seem to be surrounded by monkeys lately or they may be my coworkers but more and more everyday I think they are a bunch of monkeys!!!

Mail Mom I was also worried about putting on some weight when I started back on solid foods. And honestly I did but gain back about 3 pounds but it came right back off because not only are you giving your body more nutriants but also energy. You will be moving around more at this stage so you need the food to continue to lose the weight. If your doctor suggests only 1 meal a day at this point then go with that but if he thinks you should be eating 3 meals then dont go against his word. dont worry about gaining a few pounds back. before you know it the number will be going down again and you may not even see if creep up for a few days.

I dont go out to lunch often but when I do we usually go to Baja Fresh and I order from the kids menu without a problem. When I go out to dinner with friends I will normally have them wrap up half of whatever it is that I ordered so that I have a better chance of stopping myself from eating too much. there have been a few times when I have gone out to eat and shared a dinner with a someone and I've never had a problem from any restaurant staff.

Connie I would definitely suggest some sort of cardio/dance video. maybe hip hop or latin. I do a latin dance class at my gym and you really use your entire body and its FUN!!! I know I have seen various dance videos in target or walmart so they should be pretty easy to find. If there are to many choices just grab a few that you would be interested in and randomly pick one and if you enjoy it then maybe once a week or every 2 weeks you can go back and grab another one. if you have digital cable there may also be some sort of dance workout available through that and you can test out what kind of workout you want to try.

karen - good for you for resisting the urge to binge!!! a treat every now and then is ok well at least to me it is - but you were smart to stop when your band told you to!! and this band is such a mighty thing that I am thankful everyday that I have it

ok I have an odd question...while working out does anyone wrap their abs in suran wrap?? :confused2: I see a few women at my gym that do this and being the odd duck that I am I wanted to try it. so I was just wondering if anyone does it and what does it do for you? does it help you suck it in? help lose weight in that area? can I do this with my thighs also? lots of silly questions I know but if anyone has done this or knows anything about it I would appreciate the info.

Dont worry about the effects of a few pieces of chocolate. as long as you are not eating them all day everyday then you will be ok. Chocolate is my biggest weakness and I still eat some about 4 times a week and I dont feel guilty about it at all. You dont want to deny yourself a few treats every once and a while or you may binge and over do it.

I believe that my loss really have to do with working out. yeah I am sure that I would be losing without the working out but not as much. I dont thing working out can hurt with weight loss. Find something that you enjoy doing and roll with it. For me I enjoy the class that most gyms offer so thats why I joined an all female gym - to me women are the ones that take the most classes so at the gym I go to they offer losts of cardio and toning classes. -
welcome jrzylioness!!! I remember being very nervous pre op and post op actually!!! The only thing I really did to prepare was to do a little grocery shopping to pick up some items for the post op diet. I knew I wasnt going to want to go out right after surgery so I stocked up on broths, ice pops, jelly and items like that. and I also remember buying a few pairs of loose stretchy pajama pants so that I would be comfortable and nothing would irritate my stomach. I only had to do a liquid diet the day before surgery so I am not sure how to deal with that if you have too. good luck on your journey and if you have any questions feel free to ask. I have said this many times before but everyone here is always so helpful and caring!!!!

I too eat EVERYTHING on your "no" list except granola and that just because I dont like it. I have no problems eating any of the listed but everyone is different. I can understand the doctor saying this for the post op diet but not after that is over

I dont have the statistics on failure rates for any weight loss surgery but nothing is 100% but I am sure you are already aware of that. As far as the band migrating in your body...the only thing that I can think that she was talking about is if the band slips. If it does slip its still on your stomach just not in the correct spot and could cause problems. And if you have the correct restriction you wont be able to cheat or else you will vomit or be uncomfortable. I feel that with any weight loss surgery there are risks and the options to cheat not just with the band. if you are set on getting the band dont let anyone else try to change your mind or doubt your decision. you have to decide what is best for you. I meet with both before I had my surgeon consult actually even before I attended the seminar and decided on this surgeon. I had been to a few seminars before and knew that both were required by my insurance so while I was still picking a surgeon I got everything out of the way and it made everything go a lot faster once I finally had my consult with the surgeon. -
we FINALLY have weather of a decent temperature - 60 - here in NJ but that doesnt mean that its nice!!! I can deal with the wind but it is so gloomy and rainy that I just want to crawl into bed and hide under the covers and its only 3pm!!! UGH! where is the spring weather that we all need?!?!?!

I know exactly how you feel Nicole. I was in your shoes a few months ago and I couldnt be happier with my decision to get banded. If you have any questions feel free to ask all the ladies here are always so helpful!!!

thanks Pat!!! my original goal for the DR trip was to hit 225 - thats the weight I was my first trip there in 2003 - but since I am 5 pounds away from that mark I moved that goal up to my little trip to california at the end of April. that would put me at 52 pounds down and even as I type the number I still cant believe that I am almost there already!!!!!!!!! I am determined to hit that goal and I thank all of you ladies for your support!!!!!!!

Kat sorry to hear that you had a rough time. I hope you are feeling better! Pat my trip to DR isnt until July so I have a little time to find that Protein AND to lose more weight. I will be fine with not finding protein if I hit the goal I set for myself by that time. I would be doing the happy dance all the way to the airport!!!!

Nicole - i go to LabCorp but your insurance company will tell you what lab they work with so that you dont have to pay for it. Pat - Happy Birthday!!!! better late then never Diane - thanks for the kind words. I have my monthly weigh in a the gym tonight so I am excited and nervous and I swear if it wasnt for the gym I would not be doing so well and I would probably be on my 5th fill by now Betty - I have not found a Protein shake but perhaps thats because I have not gone to the store and looked yet...it might help to do that! I have until July so I am not in that big of a rush hugs and love to everyone!
