Thanks for the info! Did you have your port moved?

I'm traveling for business this week and have not been able to eat since I landed. Does flying cause complications? I tried to have dinner tonight but vomited several times. Only able to tolerate broth. Cold liquids come right back up. Does this mean I have a slip. Should I go to the ER? My co-working know nothing of my surgery. How do I explain this? Need all the advice I can get. Surgery date 5/8/12 6.8cc in 10 cc band

Help!!! Can't eat - just got of 3 hr flight
Divine_swoman replied to Divine_swoman's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks hazelsbliss. And my last fill was in early August (only .2cc's) I'm sipping Vitamin water as we speak. So glad to hear this is not related to flying. One other concern for me is taking my heartrate meds. It's a small pill but at this point I'm scared to even try. I'll break in half and take with hot tea - can't miss a dose. Wish me luck. -

Thanks everyone....I'll stick to warm liquids tomorrow. I have never vomited so much in my life, I'm sure there's irriation. Will call my surgeon's office for official Dr's advice too. Thanks again...You guys are awesome!!! -
Going for my 3rd fill next week. Thanks for the advise!!!!

Thanks for the tips. I'm feeling discouraged too. I've only lost 17lbs since having lapband w/plication on May8th. But I too have not been good about getting all my calories in and I've been off my food plan too. To make things worse I'm traveling for work next week (1st time since I had surgery). Thinking about going on a 5-day juice fast to reboot my system when I get back. Any thoughts???

When Did You Get Your First Fill?
Divine_swoman replied to newskinnygal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Sandrie, I got my band on May 8th. Also had the plication. I thought it would be a while before I got a fill but my weight loss had stalled and I was starting to get hungry pretty quick. He added about 1cc for a total of 2cc's in my 10cc band. The process was easy and painless. Congrats on getting down 29lbs. I've only lost 17lbs, but I'm hoping this fill will help. Finger's crossed -
Left Side Pain When I Take Deep Breath
Divine_swoman replied to darsand's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You probably already know this, but you should check your temp whenever you've had surgery. I too thought I was having headaches because of the lack of caffeine. As it turns out I was actualy running a low grade fever a couple of days after surgery. My largest incision started looking really ugly. Red, swollen& warm to the touch. I ended up on antibiotics the next day. Make sure you take your temp. -

I had the same pain. Are you still using the spirometer? It really seemed to help, but time will be the biggest help. -
Lap Band With Gastric Plication
Divine_swoman replied to Calamity Jane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Melinda... Did great today. Had a protein shake for breakfast, 3oz of grilled tilapia for lunch and having anothe protein shake for snack. Will probably be too full for dinner if not I'll have another small piece of tilapia. Doesn't sound like much but I haven't been hungry as long as I get my water and protein in. -
Lap Band With Gastric Plication
Divine_swoman replied to Calamity Jane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to hear other people are eating in small portions. I think my surgeon is really conservative because the procedure is still in clinical trials. And yes I had a very small portion of salad and two very thinly sliced pieces of Turkey. It felt so good to have regular food!!! -
Lap Band With Gastric Plication
Divine_swoman replied to Calamity Jane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally blew it today. We had an all day meeting off-site where I ate a little salad and turkey lunchmeat. I should still be on liquids. My dr says full liquids for 4 weeks (had my surgery May8th) because of the plication. My question is for those of you who have had plication for a while, should I be worried that I messed up my stitches? I feel fine but now I'm totally stressed. I'm going back to shakes only for a while. -

Lap Band With Gastric Plication

I've gained three pounds too. I'm hoping its just fluid. I haven't started exercise yet but I'm watching the scale like a hawk. One thing I noticed last week didn't get enough water in because I was so focused on getting protein in. I'll let you know how it goes this week but I think if I get all my water in, my body will stop holding on to it. We'll see :-) -
Are you still on liquids? I've been cheating a little- by that I mean dr's orders were no solid food for 4 weeks....but I was so fatigued I asked my mom to make homemade Chicken Soup. No rice or noddles, just peas, carrots & bits of chicken. Lifesaver!!!! Also if your dr put you on Reglan - beware it causes drowsiness.

If you're getting a hiatal hernia repair you may need more time. I was in more pain from my hernia repair than anything else. I got the hiccups one day, it was so painful I thought I was going to die!!!!!

I had the Lapband with plication on May 8th. A thought crossed my mind that I didn't ask about before I was banded. Will still be able to ride the awesome six flags rides or that fun something of the past?

No. Clear liquids for 7 days, then start protein shakes. If you start them too soon you could get diarrhea.

Left Shoulder Pain
Divine_swoman replied to 2012Enoughisenough's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You might want to try Gas-Ex Strips Extra Strength. I use them 2-strips at a time. Also I have masasage heating pad that helped with the shoulder pain. Feel better soon! -
My surgery was May 8th too. I had plication with the Lapband and I don't think I've had real hunger, more mind hunger. Have guys noticed that almost every commerical is related to food!!! No wonder loosing weight is so hard inthis country ) I've only had broth & Popsicles until about 30 min ago, I tired roasted tomato soup. It was soooo good!!! Starting protein shakes tomorrow, I need some energy. How many calories are you getting in? You might check with your doc to see what you can have that has a view more calories.

I'm 3 days post op with the iband (Lapband w/imbrication) and I'm having the same type of pain. It's been worst part of the whole experience so far. Please let us know what your Dr. says. I have a follow up next Thursday, I'll let you know what he says. Almost forgot I had a hiatal hernia repair too.

Hey May Banders, I'm 3 days post-op and feeling pretty good. Had to go in to my Dr.'s office yesterday. My port incision starting looking really bad (red, swollen, firm & warm to the touch) & I spiked a temp @2am. The Dr. 's office was awesome. I was able to see him a couple of hours after I called. He prescribed Keflex and my wound already looks better. The only other thing is occasional pain when drink something cold. It hurts so bad I'm already thinking about getting an unfill next week when I go in for a check up. Not sure how many cc's are in my band but I feel super tight!! I'm able to get thin liquids down but sometimes it feels like my band is squeezing my stomach. Which sends this unbearable pain across my chest. Anyone else with plication have this issue?

My Pre-Op Diet Instructions Stink!
Divine_swoman replied to Chamie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I really like the EAS Carb Control shakes both vanilla and chocolate are great! They have 17 gm of protein. Sold at Sam's in a 24 pk case for abou $27 in my area. Also the Myoplex Lite are really good. They have 20gm of protein! A little more expensive, the case only as 18pks also at Sam's. -
Best Wishes...I'm right behind you on Tuesday. Let us know how you're doing.

Suzanne, Did you get the iband? I'm scheduled with Dr. Wilkenfeld on May 8th. So excited I can't stay off the message boards :-))
