Pattern or a Problem: Your Thoughts (long post SORRY)
LadyMaggie replied to LadyMaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
CATFISH87, I simply asked my surgeon if we could please do my next fill under "Fluro Fill" and he said no, that research did not support its use; he said people had more problems with it and he refused to use it in his practice. I have two insurance companies (mine is primary; hubby is secondary) So, the doctor is charging $150.00 per fill; but I am not out of pocket any money on the fills. I am about 99% sure I am changing doctors. I am going to have a serious discussion with him about all of this during my April visit. Thank you for your input. -

I agree with you DULCI; but boy when I mentioned the word "Fluro Fill" it must have a struck a nerve because he gave me one heck of a lecture. I did request a copy of my medical records and if we can't make forward progress and get on the same page during my April visit; I also believe it is time for a second opinion / new doctor. Thanks for the feedback guys -

I agree with you LauriGee; this is when I asked my surgeon if we could use the Fluro Fill to take the "guess" work out of the amount of cc's to fill with; the end result was a lecture I do not tell my surgeon how much to fill; I think they should at least ask for patient feedback; we know / listen to what our bodies and bands are telling us -
Questions I wished I had asked.....
LadyMaggie replied to erinkenben's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I have several. I did NOT know anyone that had lap band surgery to ask. . . considered myself very informed. * how long will I have hair loss after the surgery; does it get better * is constipation an ongoing issue and why? * why my surgeon refuses to use fluro fill * lots more questions about the length of time expected for "bandster hell" * how long it will take to get to the green zone ~ good luck on your journey ~ -
Same story; I had lap band surgery in April 2012. Every time I get near the 'green zone', I have MAJOR bouts of reflux, with it being worse at night. I taken Nexium daily (and did so BEFORE the band), my lap band doctor's only suggestion was a complete UNFILL. So, I asked my family doctor about it. She added omeprazole (morning) AND prescription Zantac 150 at bed time. My question is how does the lap band help me do the work if it is going to stay empty ** urgh **

Not Eating Enough
LadyMaggie replied to CajunPrincess83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My two cents . . . get on this web page (LINK: http://www.lapband.com/en/mylapband/recipe_box/my_recipes/) and find some mushie recipes that you can tolerate. You can sort them by meal (lunch), ETC. good luck -
I had lap band surgery in April 2012; I have an AP Large Lap Band that will hold 14 ccs; currently have 7 ccs. My daily Protein count is around 60 and my calorie count is 1,200. I drink around 60 ounces of Water as well. My energy level has plummeted and I am VERY lethargic. I went to my family doctor for lab work. All is well (except I still have high cholesterol). Does anyone have TIPS or TRICKS on increasing energy level? Feel like I am missing a piece of the puzzle. Thanks for your positive input

You can diagnose a Hiatal Hernia with an upper GI or a scope. I had one which was repaired with my lap band surgery.

Tips and Tricks to Increase ENERGY level ?
LadyMaggie replied to LadyMaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the feedback. My doctor did a VERY thorough blood work up (thyroid was okay; no vitamin deficiencies) The vitamins I take are Bariatric Advantage (chewable) Multi Vitamin / Vitamin D / and Calcium Chews (daily) I teach school so I am awake each morning at 5:45 a.m. I am NOT a coffee drink and avoid caffeine for other health reasons. My normal bed time is 10:00 p.m. Thanks for the responses Yes, LEE my triglyceride levels are a tad high and I do have sleep apnea. This was an issue before surgery and I am not sure when it will get better ? -

Green Zone...who's there?
LadyMaggie replied to klr2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a Large AP Lap Band that will hold 14 ccs; I have had numerous fills and see my surgeon each month since my surgery in April 2012. I am not in the "Green Zone" (yet). I have 7 ccs in my band. I am going in for a fill tomorrow. We shall see . . . Good Luck on your journey -
Well, I like this website (LINK: http://www.lapband.com/en/mylapband/recipe_box/my_recipes/) because you can sort recipe by texture (liquid, mushie, etc.) or by meal (breakfast food, lunch, etc).

Unflavored Protein
LadyMaggie replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I am a regular user of the UNflavored unjury and a big fan of this Protein powder. I add it my morning o.j. each day. -
A glass of wine will do the body good (sort of like that milk commercial)

Nope . . . but I am drinking a glass now

very slow digestive system...has anyone else experienced complications from this
LadyMaggie replied to Rteest's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, the pineapple thing makes sense to me because my surgeon told me when I had major "stuck" episodes to drink pineapple juice. I keep it on hand at all times. Good Luck. -
why do I feel like I'm still on a diet?
LadyMaggie replied to brannewmee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
TO: Brannewmee: I echo the sentiments in your post; this definitely feels like a diet; I had surgery in April 2012 and I am still looking for the Green Zone. I had an amazing amount of will power the first 6 months; weighing food, journal-ling, working out at the gym, etc., etc. ----> but it is fading F-A-S-T- Sorry I do not have any easy answers. Good Luck on your journey -
Well, my doctor says laxatives are a BIG no-no; I use the fiber gummies (2 per day) and take a stool softener (Colace) every other day.

I think I must a Protein bar SNOB. . . there are so many I could NOT eat I found these at Sam's Club "Think Thin Protein Bar"; there is a variety pack and they are awesome. The white chocolate ones taste just like a zero candy bar. Here is the nutritional information: Chunky Peanut Butter Brownie Crunch White Chocolate Deliciously natural nutrition 0g sugar 20g protein Gluten free Kosher dairy I also like the Nature Valley® Protein Bars -- 10 grams of protein.
