    Help!

Have been banded for 3 1/2 years; never drink alcohol or carbonated beverages. Did you trying drink pineapple juice? Sometimes the enzymes will help you.
  2. I agree that you should go see your lap band doctor. It is NOT failure until you quit trying. We all have life situations and bumps in the road. Find your green zone and stay positive.

    If you are stuck...

I always try pineapple juice. I avoid vomiting at all costs because of fears of band slips

    Anyone with 12cc band?

I have a 14 cc band; green zone for me is anywhere from 6 to 7 cc

    Juice plus..

I am not familiar with the juice plus capsules; however, I take Biotin (gels) twice a day and they do wonders for hair and nail (in my opinion).

    Stuck

My NUT says hot items (tea, soup, etc.) and also pineapple juice
  7. I also think the lap band is a lifetime committment.

    What was your reason?

Can reverse the lap band; my family (primary) physician would not recommend "altering my anatomy"; so, she would NOT recommend the other options. On a personal level, the only thing I would change is I wish I had the surgery SOONER.
  9. do they offer fluro-fills (sp?) --- big difference in getting you to the green zone my surgeon did NOT offer this

    Help

I think everyone's lap band is different; I don't know anyone who has had the surgery (family / friends); but, I envisioned as I got closer to my goal weight, I would need MORE fluid to keep the band tight; I have actually need less fluid the closer I moved to my goal weight (again, other's may have a different experience)

    Help

my lap band doctor has me take Nexium (you can now get over-the-counter, without prescription) my nutritionist says when I have issues like this to drink something warm (tea, soup, etc.) if it persists over a couple of days, you really need to see your surgeon

Surgery Scar - What do you tell people?

say "female issues" usually shuts people down fairly quickly my lap band scar is similar to my gall bladder (surgery) scar (if that helps>?)
  13. No insurance coverage in the state of Kentucky; it is my understanding that different states and insurance companies have different policies on paying; but it is all cosmetic, so Humana or Anthem paid any money toward it
  14. When I started on this journey a little over 2 years ago, I never, ever considered plastic surgery. My lap band has been challenging, but I wouldn't change a thing (maybe get it sooner instead of waiting for so long); I am five pounds from goal. I can't believe how much the breast lift and tummy tuck helped getting rid of excessive skin. Stay on the journey for you. It is not the easy way out; I have faithfully seen my lap doctor ever 8 weeks. Good Luck
  15. no; my plastic surgery said my pant size would go down at least two sizes; people will think you have "lost" a lot of weight; he said it would not be over a total of 5 pound loss; but well worth in my opinion

when is it time to see the plastic surgeon?

Every lap band patient and doctor will have a different answer to your question for sure. Here is my two cents: I asked my Primary Care Physician, Lab Band Surgery and Plastic Surgeon ---> ALL said once I was within 15 pounds of my goal weight they would recommend surgery. The impression they gave me, it was okay if you lost under 20 pounds AFTER you have the surgery (no issue); the problem is when GAIN weight after the surgery (if that makes sense)... Good Luck on your Journey
  17. I am two years out from lap band. . . . really wouldn't change a thing. My BMI is down over 12 and I am within 10 pounds of my goal weight. I am having a mastopexy (breast lift) and Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) done this June to finish my journey. This forum was helpful from the begining of my journey.

    Question....

I am about 2 years out; my follow-up appointment was similar to the above posts. Lap band doctor walked in; looked at my decision and walked out. . . . took a total of 5 minutes.
  19. I have spent about an hour searching this forum but can't seem to find the answer. Are there any teachers who have had a tummy tuck? If yes, how long was your recovery time? I am trying to decide if I need to wait until Summer (2014) or if I can schedule surgery for my Spring Break (we have a 2-week break). Thanks for any input.
  20. Thanks for all of the input and replies. I have decided to wait until summer. There isn't a rush to have the surgery, and I can wait until June
  21. I really could not extend my time beyond our already scheduled 2-week Spring Break due to State Testing, etc. At this point, I am leaning more towards scheduling it for summer.
  22. I am 45 years old and I teach 3rd grade. I am having a full tummy tuck and a breast lift. I have already had my first consult. Now, I just need to schedule a surgery date. I am getting cold feet about surgery for spring break. . . just not sure what to do (?)
  23. I will be approaching my 2-year anniversary date (April 2014), I am STILL having MAJOR hair loss. I have tried everything. I have resolved myself that I am going to be bald by the time I hit goal weight. My husband said he would buy me a wig ;(
