I agree with not telling "EVERYONE". I had not given it much thought; however, my Nutriionist suggested being caution about who I told. She said that she found co-workers were very judgmental of how, what and when you eat once they knew about your lap band surgery. Initially, I ONLY told my husband and one close friend. The week of my surgery, I told my sister and my children. I had lap band on April 9th and still have not told any of my co-workers and do not plan to. It is a personal decision and I can do without the lectures and non-supportive comments. Good Luck~

I am right there with you!! I had lap band surgery on April 9th. With pre-surgery diet and liquid phase, I lost 25 pounds fairly quickly and then it seemed to stall. I am measuring food; I keep a food journal; haven't gained any, but not losing either. My first fill isn't scheduled until June 6th. I am hoping it will help. . . still trying to be patient and being a trooper. No soda, potatoes or bread since April 1st and eating a lot of mushie things

LadyMaggie replied to cbarreto's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lap band surgery on April 9th and after my surgery, I went from chronic diarrhea to chronic constiplation . . but things have stabilized recently. I did switch to the lactose-free milk and that REALLY helped the most. -

Anyone Have Ky Access Ins?
LadyMaggie replied to donna12's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have Kentucky Humana as my primary insurance and Anthem/BS&BS as secondary. They both had the standard 6 months weigh in, but after that they paid. After pre-op testing and 6 month weigh ins, it really took me a year to get to surgery date. I had lap band on April 9th. GOOD LUCK -
Yes, today is National Teacher Appreciation Day . . . I received the most heart-warming card from one of my students that almost brought me to tears ~ A W E S O M E

thanks for sharing the story . . . makes a Newbie feel more inspired that we can reach our goals -
I was banded on 04-09-2012 and constipation has been my only complaint (it is chronic and painful); At first, I tried Docusate Sodium Stool Softener, 100mg; took 1 first night; 3 days later took 2; had to end up using Fleet Enema and it seemed to "reset" my body; So, far everything is MUCH better.

My energy level is very LOW too; I was banded on 04-09-2012; I keep telling myself that this is considered major surgery and it takes 6 weeks to recover; if it does get better by late May, I will be seeing my doctor. I take the Advantage Bariatric vitamins but they aren't helping with energy level.

I made the decision to have this surgery because I have struggled with my weight for the past 20 years. I have witnesssed close family members go through hip and knee replacement as well as developing diabetes. I did not want to go down that road. I also want energy to keep up with my grandson. I did it for ME. Thanks for sharing

Are You Going To Tell Anyone About Your Surgery???
LadyMaggie replied to Lola Granola's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Nutrionist cautioned me about thinking twice who I tell. She said she found that some people's co-workers and families were too judgemental about weight loss surgery and caused some additional stress. I did tell my immediate family members (parents, spouse, children and CLOSE friends). I did NOT tell any of my coworkers. She suggested when people ask you how you lost weight to tell them you are eating less . . . which is true. GOOD LUCK -
I agree with "Mrs. Monique" my Nutrionist told me as long as I used my blender or food processor, I could add several different foods during the "mushie" stage . . . a few exceptions: NO bread, potatoes. You can sort the food list on www.lapband and search for some really GOOD recipes. Good Luck!

I also teach (4th grade) in Kentucky. I had my lap band surgery on Spring Break; but I did need to take an additional 2 days for recovery. So, I did not work for 7 school days (9 days counting weekends) and I was VERY ready to return to work -- had no issues.

Surgury Soon And All Posts Are Seeming So Negative
LadyMaggie replied to kbliss78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on April 9, 2012. My experience has been 99% positive. I have had (like most others) some pain the day after surgery and some gas issues. Other than that, I have followed doctors and nutritionist's orders to a "T" and I have lost 28 pounds. I go in for my first fill on May 27th. I wish you nothing but the best -

LadyMaggie replied to earthsmile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my pre-op diet on April 1st and was banded on April 9th. As of today (April 20th), I am down 22 pounds and I CANNOT believe it . . . but I am sure it is due to all liquids at this stage. -

LadyMaggie posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I purchased a LARGE bag of the Bariatric Advantage High Protein Meal Replacement Orange Cream (Dreamsicle) and cannot drink it. Is there a way to jazz this flavor up so I don't have to waste it? -
