I am a teacher and I am also on my feet all day. Just recently went to the doctor for treatment for this. She recommend ice at night, sleep in a pair of leather keds, and buy a pair on Dansko shoes; this has helped some but I still have an occassional flair up. My tennis shoes are Saucony (sp?) and they allow me to run or walk on the tread mill. good luck

My Mouth Keeps Watering, And I Keep Burping!
LadyMaggie replied to dramastarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
definitely sounds like something is stuck; try drinking pineapple juice; that's what works for me ~ good luck -
I teach; I scheduled my surgery for my spring break; I have heard a lot of folks say they go back the next day; but I am glad I had the extra time to heal and rest because my energy level was so low. good luck

Mine is similiar to yours; my husband is VERY fit, in shape. I want to be able to keep up with him. We went to Disney for our wedding anniversary a few years back and it was everything I had to just walk through the park for the day.

Helping My Mother Understand
LadyMaggie replied to wildrose1966's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate to your situation as my entire family thought I would wake up magically THIN after lap band surgery. After several fills, it has taken me 6 months to get "near" the green zone. They are mostly disappointed that I have only lost 37 pounds. My will power is fading and I am starting to feel like a failure. . . . -
I'm not sure how to exactly answer your question. But I will tell you my "Fill Story". . . I had 1 1/2 ccs put in my band during surgery to 'prime' the band; my first fill was 3 ccs; my second fill was 2 ccs; my last fill in September was 1/2 cc; I have an AP Large Lap Band that will hold 14 cc's and I am still not in "Green Zone" or restriction. My surgeon will only add 1/2 cc from this point forward. I am hoping that my next fill on October 17th will put me at the ever allusive restriction

Day 1 Solid Foods, Don't Know Where To Begin!
LadyMaggie replied to YankeeChick75's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my surgeon said do not drink 30 minutes before you eat or 30 minutes after you eat; for my first meal with solid foods, I had baked fish . . it is a good protein and moist. Good Luck ~ -
I would LOVE to have a glass of wine@! I had lap band surgery in April of this year; however, I need a specific type to make sure I am NOT doing a big NO-NO. . . any lap bandsters have a specific type that is "SAFE" ?

I had lap band surgery on April 9th; down 37 pounds; have an AP Large Lap Band that can hold up to 14 cc's; after several fills, I am at 7 cc's --- still not in green zone; joining AnyTime Fitness has helped. I feel like I have done better with losing inches than pounds (odd?) the weight loss has been slower than I anticipated as I search for the ever allusive restriction; I should change my screen name to "TURTLE"

I can't burp the hiccups . . . shut the front door! when they attack ~ W H E W ~

Also at about 5 months since lap band surgery, I have lost 37 pounds (SLOW but steady) still not sure I am at restriction / green zone; Exercise has helped the most with inches

How Fast Is The Weightloss?
LadyMaggie replied to mzyunique1's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I agree with many of the above posts, my doctor told me that I would lose 1 to 2 pounds per week after Lap Band surgery; I am average more like 1 pound weekly (1200 calorie diet and I go to AnyTIme Fitness 5 days a week); it is S-L-O-W . . . . but steady (I feel like that turtle racing the rabbit) he he -
My doctor only required 1200 calorie diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery and FULL liquid diet day BEFORE surgery. . . they all have their own way
-
My doctor did not promote a 2-week or longer pre-surgery diet. He said to just eat "reasonable" the week before. I researched for an excellent general surgeon who performs lap band surgery; NOT just a surgeon who ONLY does lap band surgery. My 2 cents is that it does make a difference.

I had my lap band surgery on April 9th of this year at Suburban Hospital with Dr. Jeff Allen; still searching for the "GREEN" zone. . . .

I would feel guilty about not getting enough protein; I am obsessed with 65 grams of protein daily

Once a week, EVERY month, I feel like I am battling the PMS cravings vs. healthy eating for my lap band. Any good advice or strategies to deal with this issue? I crave SALT and CHOCOLATE. . .. urgh~!

Just curious if anyone has watched this documentary? My primary care physician suggested I watch it when she was reviewing my daily diet with lap band. You can watch it on NetFlix if you are interested. The movie is basically research conducted two "food scientists". There is a mention of animal-based food and the connection to obesity, diabetes and other diseases.

What Are You Hungry For? It's Not Food!
LadyMaggie replied to meyouus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Interesing. . . . thanks for sharing -
I was addicted to diet coke. I had lap band surgery this year on April 9th; I have NOT had a soda since April 1st. . . but I crave one everyday. My surgeon said it was a BIG no no ~ so this is one rule I have followed with 100% accuracy.

Try These! 42 Grams Of Protein In 3.8 Oz!!
LadyMaggie replied to amyknecht's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought a case from GNC; they are "New Whey Liquid Protein" with 42 grams of Protein; they are Lactose FREE; Gluten FREE; Caffeine FREE; Sugar FREE: and Fat FREE; I just pretend that I am back in college and they are jell-o shots; agree with other posts that it is a good way to get in daily protein. I will occassionally mix it with my morning o.j. because my band will not let me eat in the morning. So, I have no guilt about skipping breakfast. -

They are the same color as Kool-Aid (without the sugar). I have tried the grape flavor and the orange flavor.
