Getting Banded This Thursday- Question
LadyMaggie replied to GodsTyro's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did spend one night in the hospital; but I was very aware of everything about 2 hours after surgery. I walked around the hospital several times without assistant, went the bathroom with no help, etc. -
Sorry, but I don't understand your question.

Wedding Meal Decision 10 Weeks Out From Surgery..
LadyMaggie replied to Banderina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, my band had 1 1/2 cc when my doctor did the surgery; he said this was to "prime" the band; at my first fill he put in 2 more cc';s; I have an AP Large Lap Band that will hold 14 ccs; my band currently has 9 ccs and I just hit the green zone; took 6 months. -
Wedding Meal Decision 10 Weeks Out From Surgery..
LadyMaggie replied to Banderina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It really depends upon your restriction; at 10 weeks out, I could eat ANY of that without issues; it took me 6 months to get to restriction; -
I have only had my lapband for 6 months; but, I will tell you that I have a Large AP Lap Band that will hold 14 ccs; I have 9 ccs and I am just in the green zone; do you by chance need a small fill; this may help you so you can have a liquid diet for a couple of days to help jump start foward progress toward weight loss; good luck

Going For 4Th Fill Tomorrow..still No Restriction..normal?
LadyMaggie replied to Sophie99's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I also have an AP Large Lap Band that will hold 14 cc; just went in for my 5th fill (doctor added 2 ccs) -- so, now, I have 9 cc's in my band; I am six months post-surgery; I think I may FINALLY be in the Green Zone; -
I can also relate to your situation. I only initially told my husband (did NOT tell my parents, kids, or sisters/brother). Once I had the surgery, I did tell my children and my mother. My mother took it upon herself to tell my entire family. I live in a small community and I am certain that EVERY ONE knows. . . . which I don't really care about. But, there is a post about "I'm Tired" of people asking every day how much weight I lost and why at 6months I am not at goal weight. I think my family thought I would wake up from surgery "skinny" and this would be a fast weight loss process ---> it is NOT; I am 6 months out and after several fills just now in the green zone. I am TIRED of the questions and criticism. So, I understand your caution in proceeding with who knows and who doesn't. Good Luck ~

I Dont Need To Be Criticized
LadyMaggie replied to futuresize8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if people are honest . . . we all have an occassional "oops" it is impossible to do everything perfect just because you have had lap band surgery. it is not failure until you quit trying. tomorrow is a new day ---> move on -
Officially Banded Today W/important Question!
LadyMaggie replied to Deevee0927's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes, I asked my doctor the SAME question; he said that ALL lap bands MUST be "primed" during the surgery. He put 1 cc in my band ~ good luck -
I'm not sure if this will help answer your questions or not . . . . but, I have an AP Large Lap Band that will hold up to 14 cc's. I had sugery on 04-09-12. I currently have 7 cc's in my band with NO restriction. I asked my doctor at my last fill what happens when I get to 14 cc's. He said that NEVER happens. He also said from this point forward he will only add 1/2 cc at a time. . . desperately seeking the ever ellusive "Green Zone"

It Is Like I Never Had Surgery Sometimes
LadyMaggie replied to prettysmart1913's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand and can relate to your post; I am 6 months post op and still NO restriction; going for ANOTHER fill this week. . . frustrating -
I can relate to your post; I was banded in April 2012; weight loss has slowed; I am going in to see my doctor THIS week to see if I am missing something. . . sorry not to have an answer

agree that the Kashi brand is the BEST way to go and they now have several different types of cerals to choose from; lots of fiber and decent amounts of protein; I add UNJURY to mine to get in extra protein.

Is anyone out there from Kentucky?
LadyMaggie replied to carmillejoanita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree that Norton Bariatric Center AND Suburban Hospital are AWESOME! My physician was Dr. Jeff Allen. I have no complaints at all. -
Can Not Tolerate Protein Drinks!!!!!
LadyMaggie replied to Lmi346's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the UNflavored Unjury . . . everything else tasted bittered or really bad after taste -
So This Is Bandster Hell!
LadyMaggie replied to Disney Nut's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the above post; as I have had several fills and I am 6 months out; still in Bandster HE** and not at green zone or restriction; I had no idea it would take this long -
Can You Ever Drink Too Much Water?
LadyMaggie replied to farmgirl04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, it is possible to drink TOO much Water. My mother did this recently. She does NOT have lap band but she has always been a BIG water drinker. It depleted her electrolytes (potassium, sodium) levels and she was hospitalized for two days. There is a medical name for it . . . but it escapes me at the moment. My physician told me to drink one-half of your body weight in ounces (example: if you weigh 200 pounds; drink 100 ounces of water each day) -
That happened to me a couple of times; I put an ice cube in my mouth and swished it around . . . I CANNOT drink either while eating. So, I really try to avoid spicy foods.
-
I bought the Bariatric Advantage vitamins (they are all chewable); one is a multi vitamin; one is vitamin d; and the other is the calcium chews. I can tell a BIG difference with my hunger and energy level if I forget to take them.

The surgery and prep was not bad; my c-section a few years back was more painful

Im At Like 7.5 Cc And Don't Feel It Working
LadyMaggie replied to latinamom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had lap band surgery on 04-09-12; I have a Large AP Lap Band that will hold 14 cc's; I am also at 7 cc's and not in the green zone . . . yet; I asked my physician what happens when I get to 14 cc's and I still don't have restriction. He said that never happens. He is now only adding 1/2 cc at all future fills. The one thing I did NOT realize about the lap band was that it would take 6 months to get near the green zone. There is a VERY wise lap bandster on here who will say "Lap Band without restriction is just like another diet" . . . the more I think about that, the more I agree. -
try drinking or eating something WARM; like oatmeal or soup; that helps me the most with a tight band
