My surgery was June 8th, 2012, so I am just over 10 months out. I have lost 82 pounds and have stalled. I have been tracking what I eat and exercise. I try to stay around 800 calories a day but definitely under 1000. I try to exercise an hour a day, not including chasing my kids and house work (lol). I have been at the same weight for close to 2 months I believe. I always struggle with water intake, but I am trying to improve, just not a big drinking in general. I have been laid off since March 1st so that has been an adjustment, but I started tracking food and exercise to make sure I wasnt going nuts now that I had a kitchen available to me at all times. Any advice, suggestions, etc would be great!

I was sleeved on June 8th. I have done pretty good so far. I just have not found a Protein shake that I can drink. I have been doing the New whey shots but it can upset my stomach some. As far as I can tell the powder is cheaper too. Any suggestions? I am also having issues with drinking enough Water. I have never been much of a drinker. :-(

Ive tried all the mix with water stuff, it makes it worse for me. Plain water is fine its just to drink it. I tried a PB cup shake mixed with water drank once sip. My mom mixed plain yogurt in it still only drank one sip. I just bought 12 of the new whey protein shots that have 42g off amazon. I have tried 2 flavors walmart sells and that are ok so I will see how this does. I can force myself to drink a few onces if it has alot of protein but this 8-16 oz for 14g is not going to cut it lol.

I am not using medical cups. I have tried the luke warm water and i just dont care for it. I tore up the ice in the hospital so ive been drinking iced water. Some days are much better than others. I am just getting back to work so its kinda blah but im trying. I MAY get in 20-30 oz in a day and they told me i need to do 40. I didnt do that much before surgery of any kind of liquid. I have tried the defac tea with sweetener, couldnt do it. I am one that likes tea rarely. Its not that i dont like the taste of water, i just dont drink much. Ive tried the crystal light and all to make it more appealing but that made it worse. I TOTALLY agreee with the bubbles. I never had protein shakes until now.

They are also listed as no sugar added

I am 4 days post op, i have tried 4 different whey shakes in the last 2 days. I can not stomach any of them. Is there another good substitute that can get in 20+ grams in quickly?

I am scheduled for on Friday. I am getting very nervous. I was just wondering what it felt like right after surgery. I have had 2 c-sections with no problems, but thats all I have to compare to.

Thanks everyone! Sitting in pre-admission right now. Very nervous about what's to come! -
What are the best and easy to come by? Did you stock up on the approved foods for after surgery before you went in? I got my food list for what and when I can eat.

April 10th went to seminar for Dr. Bilton in Tuscaloosa, Al only to find out after I paid the $75 that the sleeve isn't done there yet and I'm not about to be one of the first in. April 21st I went to Dr. Dewitt's FREE (lol) seminar in Birmigham, Al. I have to get my 3 years of recorded weight and height as well as recent blood work faxed. Already sent cardio work up. Will have to do physc eval but that should be it. I got on May 9th for the in off consultation and work up for anything else I may be required to do then my submittal to insurance will begin. I'm excited, nervous and scared all at the same time. I have 2 young children to care for while my husband works out of state and my family lives in another state. I have been over weight all my life. I've been picked on, laughed at and felt unworthy of love. I have been blessed with a life I never thought i'd have. Im tried of holding back and not enjoying to the fullest bc of size or embarrassment. I want to do things I never could before, run and play with my kids. Feel attractive and most off all do all I can to ensure that I am healthier to be around for them. Too many emotions Ashley

Surgeon In Tusclaoosa, Al
anm968503 replied to anm968503's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dang. The Tuscaloosa dr requires phys eval and sleep study. I grilled my insurance and they mentioned nothing of the sort so I am guessing it is his rules. -
Has anyone used Dr. Brad Bilton in Tuscaloosa, Alabama for the sleeve? If so, where facility was the procedure done at, what was the experience like from beginning to end??? Any help is a HUGE HELP!

So I started this when I was looking into drs. I have attended a seminar here in Tuscaloosa with the only drs that does it here. While they were really nice, they do not do the sleeve yet and i am no where interested in being the first in. Dr. DeWitt and Dr. Matthews are my 2 other options. Are there any things that Dr. DeWitt requires outside of insurance? I do not have to do the 7 months of weight loss. I have 3 years of recorded weight and cardio test already done. The dr. here requires things like 2 support groups before surgery, 1 after, the seminar, all day class with dietician, BMI under 50, Physc Evaluation and sleep study. It will be at least 6 weeks before i know what is exactly required of me.
