Hey ya'll. I am in the process of losing the preop weight that Dr. Maher wants me to lose. I am down 8 pounds and have 16 more to go. Is anyone else from the Richmond area? I live in New Kent, Va, but am having my surgery at VCU. Thanks in advance!

I am waiting anxiously for my freaking therapist to talk to the Psych Doctor. And she hasn't done it yet! I asked her to do this over a month ago!!!! WTF?!?! GAH!!! So at anyrate, I am still awaiting my date.

Well, I am currently still awaiting a call from Dr. Mahers office. I am thinking I will just call tomorrrow I'm so freaking ready! I am so freaking tired of WAITING!

GUESS WHAT?!?!?!? I GOT TO 292 documented by a doctor and Dr. Maher is HAPPY with that number! I only have 3 things really standing in my way. *Get my therapist to call the Psych Eval Dr. at VCU *Get my gastro doctor to fax all my files to Dr. Maher *Get my sleep study from Norfolk General Hospital faxed to Dr. Maher These are simple things! I am so freaking excited! Will let you all know my surgery date! <3

So this past weekend my husband and I went to an event in Carlisle Pennsylvania. It was at a fairground. A HUGE one! I walked from one end to the other for 3 days. I drank lotsa water and fluids, I ate half the portions of food I usually do because I wasn't hungry. And yet, I get on the scale....and still at 300. W.T.F?!?!?! I am so frustrated I wanna cry!

So far, I am down to 300. I have even been down to 298. But because I have been going through some things health wise. Alot of the medications they have put me on, have hindered my weightloss goal. Blegh! It sucks honestly!

Dr. Maher wants me to get to 285 I started at 311. Thats ALLLLLLLLLOOOTTTT of weight to lose. He suggested weight watchers. So I guess I am going to have to suck it up and do it that way. Ugh! I dunno. I really really want this surgery. And I know I need to do this. But sometimes its hard to get over the hump of food. Know what I mean?

I too am at VCU, and excited, because everyone has been so nice, and informative. No matter how many times you call and ask questions, they never make you feel like a bother. Good luck to all that are undergoing the surgery soon. If only I could lose the weight I need to. Its so frustrating! Have a great day everyone!

I am calling VCU Weightloss Surgery Center tomorrow. I am so frustrated about trying to lose this weight. I have probably lost the same 20 pounds over and over. I have been sick with one thing or another and so its hindering my weightloss. I wish everyone the best of luck on thier surgeries, and on thier adventures in getting to the surgery date! <3

I am with Dr. Maher at VCU Weightloss Surgery Group. I dont know about any other groups doing it. He wants me to get down to 285. It is to prove that I WILL do this. I am actually okay with it. Its just frustrating

I am with the VCU/MCV group of bariatric doctors, and I have heard great things. I am still trying to lose my last damn 10 pounds. Its so freaking frustrating. I swear I have lost this same 26 pounds over and over again. But what can you really do? Im just so frustrated and angry!

That seems kinda odd Alicia. Its your right to know wtf is going on. Doesn't matter what they want to do, its your dang right! I would show up in the office and meet face to face with the insurance specialist!

So just an update. I have lost a total of 16 pounds. Although, I lost the same 8 pounds about 6 times. I am hoping these last 10 pounds come off fast. Thats all thats holding me up from getting the surgery. He wants me at 285. Damn this is hard. Sometimes I really just wanna give up! *frustrated sigh*

I was talking to my therapist today about that actually. Doing a preop diet. Basically doing high protein drinks and whatnot. I guess I will see.

Hey ya'll!!! I went to my psych evaluation. It went fairly well. Although I have been denied for the time being until I get back into therapy. So I called today and scheduled it with my normal therapist. Once she and I have a mental health schedule down, and I fax it to the psychiatrist at VCU, she will release me for surgery. If only now I could lose these stupid 26 pounds. I keep losing, gaining, losing, gaining. Its an unending battle. I sometimes want to just give up.

I sure as hell hope so Its just so frustrating at times. I would sometimes like to give up. But I know in the long run, this is my goal, and I WILL reach it!
