Any VSG people in Hampton Roads?

My nicotine test was blood. Most everything that is tested is tested by blood. Blood is more accurate, urine is used mostly for glucose, ketones, and protein. I'm 18 weeks post op and just now starting to tell when I'm getting full instead of all of a sudden feeling really sick because I ate too much. Oh what a difference one bite can make. I've lost 80 lbs and average about 3lbs a week. Keep up the good work girls. The loss will come. Next thing you know, you will be looking at that little red dress thinking "wow, I can really buy this now". -

I had my surgery April 23rd of this year. So farive lost 80 lbs and I can now eat pretty much anything however only in small portions. But what I don't eat I put away and eat later. Down to a loose size 14 and Large shirt. I would not change anything and do not regret doing the surgery at all. -
Hello everyone, sorry I have not been on here as much as I should. I have been extremely busy with my boys and work. Alex just finished a baseball season with all stars and Travel baseball. I also had some visitors come and go a few times in the last month. I have lost 70 pounds so far and have only 35 more to go. Weight loss is starting to slow down a bit but I'm ok with that because I have been eating a little bit more. I'm so sorry to here about my co-sleevers having problems with their GB. Like Joni, my doctor also put me on actigall twice a day thank goodness! I wish you guys well and a speedy recovery. Mean while I will try to be more consistent with my updates.

Well, tomorrow is my birthday and yesterday I have officially lost 60 pounds. I weigh 182 and wear a Loose 16 pant and XL shirt. I have been an inspiration to some of my coworkers and now get picked on due to my extremely healthy eating habits (junk foods literally make me fell sick to my stomach for an hour or so and quite frankly not worth the hassle). I have been slacking on the excersize as well due to the extremely hot temperatures here in Virginia. Think I will go and get a membership to my employers gym. My snack foods consist of Colby jack cheese slices, cucumber slices, seedless green grapes, Strawberries, and cottage cheese. I'm loving life a do not regret my dicision to have the surgery one bit. Eating healthy is really not that difficult anymore and I get full and satisfied faster and stay that way longer. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their weight loss and summer as well.

Glad to see your doing better, time will go by and before you know it you will be eating regular foods. I was sleeved on 4/23 and just now able to eat a 1/4 of a sandwich and have lost 60 pounds. Some things that I really enjoyed eating at your stage (and still do) were yoplait smoothies, Greek yogurt, Panera soup (well blended), Herbox chicken brooth, and bariatric choice banana pudding (12 grams of protein per serving) which was about 6oz. I also experimented with a protein powder that you mixed with water (kind of like Kool aid mix) that was not too bad called Nectar. I would also check out some of the Unjury protein products. Some of my fellow sleeves have rave reviews about it but I didn't try it. Also, Myoplex by EAS has a protein shake that had 42 grams of protein for 17oz. And I found that at my local grocery store and at The Vitamin Shoppe. Hope you have a good recovery and good luck. And just an FYI I would not trust a fart at this stage trust me!!! -

Good luck tameka... You'll do just fine... -
Sorry I haven't been on here in awhile. To add to my already busy schedule I now have my 14 year old son out of school for the summer and have baseball almost everyday between tournaments and practices ugh! Just a quick update since my insomnia is starting to go away. I have lost a total of 54 pounds, went from a 22 to a 14/16W in pants and a 3X to an XL in tops. Still having trouble digesting meats as it just seems to churn in my stomach for about an hour in turn making me feel crappy. I have no problem eating cottage cheese and cheese sticks which tend to be my favorite snacks lately. I tried some philipino pansit (not sure of the spelling) and was surprised at how much I could eat. I ate a small cup (8oz.) and didn't get a stomachache. I love it! I did however, stay full for a while after. The old me would have put away a whole plate full of the stuff! Well getting tired. I will keep everyone posted as I get a few moments! Have a Happy Wednesday all!

Just hit my first goal to get below 200 mark! I now weigh 197 which is 44 pounds lost since April 9th. Woo hoo!

It depends on height. I have a friend who can fit into a 14 and weighs the same as I do and I can only fit into a 16/18 however, she is about 4 inches taller than me. I weigh 200.5 she weighs 201. I don't squeeze into my clothes they fit just right, not to tight and not too loose. I consider it a good fit as long as I don't have the "muffin top" when I wear them. I have not lost any weight for the last week and a half. Hoping I at least see a pound or two gone before the weekend.

Finally feel better after I sat up in chair and took a nap. it took about two hours to start feeling better. i am just now feeling good enough to do some laundry and yes it probably was a mixture of different ingredients in the salad (too much, too soon). Notime--My doctor said the very same thing about exercise too. My next checkup is in two months. I am going away for the weekend and will keep everyone up to date on how that went when I get back. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.

I went for my 1 month follow up with the Doctor yesterday and he said I was doing great. I can start taking my meds whole and start eating solid food but not dry. I need to try to avoid rice, pasta and white fluffy bread. So I went out today and got a salad and topped with hard boiled eggs cheese ranch and sunflower seeds shook it up and ate about 5 bites and was full. At first I thought well that went down ok. But then about 15 minutes after I felt horrible and so sick to my stomach I want to throw up. I slipped into my PJs and laid down but then woke up to horrible acid reflux. So I sat in my recliner and drank some water and still feel awful. I will never eat salad again. What an awful feeling

A good friend of mine told me about a recipe he makes for his family called no carb chicken pesto pizza. He takes canned chunk chicken and mashes it down into a crust in a skillet. uses olive oil spray and browns both sides in pan. Put it on pizza pan and spreads pesto as a sauce (instead of pizza sauce), and mozzarella cheese. I guess you can go with your own variations of sauce and toppings if you stick with low carb. I plan on trying it when I can eat more solid types of food. Also found a recipe that includes ground chicken and buffalo sauce to make buffalo meatballs. These are all protein and zero carbs! Gee can you tell I am craving solid foods. My question for today is: I get the hiccoughs after I'm done eating. Are any of you getting them?

I do about 10 minutes on the elliptical every day and I walk around the blocka few times too. I like to do it early in the day because I feel much better afterwards. I'm so excited today. I went shopping for some clothes yesterday and was able to fit into 16w in pants and a 1x in shirts without sucking in and feeling like I was going to pop. I can still fit into my older clothes but they are very loose (part of me is having a hard time giving them up). I guess it's because I've been that size for so long that I don't know how to dress in smaller clothes. Maybe instead of getting smaller clothes I will get them altered!

I asked my Doctor why bread was bad and he's aid that it will sit in your stomach in a blob and take up space when it could be utilized to consume more water and protein. Bread takes a very long time to digest and with the new sleeve at this stage it is very important to avoid the extra carbs because it will also hinder weight loss. He also said that eventually I would be able to eat bread but should never include white fluffy breads because they are not good for me and preferred I eat whole wheat or multi grain breads. Toasting your bread also reduces the carb content. Joni I had seen earlier your dr. Prescribed Actigall. My dr told me to take it after surgery and I started that the next day I came home. It is to prevent gall stones due to the rapid weight loss. I see my dr for my 1 month check on Wednesday. I hope he is not disappointed that I have only lost 20 pounds. I guess I was expecting a little more weight loss within the first month.
