  1. Have dr David Kim as my dr and I'm on my 2 week liquid diet. I can't call them right now, but I've forgotten my bariessential shake mix at home. I won't be able to get there during the work day. Could I get a low carb slim fast for lunch?
  2. What should I expect?
  3. So I got approved from United Healthcare at the end of April, now I'm waiting on BCBS TX. The office sent in all my paperwork to BCBS on 5/3/12. Anyone have experience with BCBS TX and how long it usually takes? I'll get to schedule my surgery as soon as we get an answer! I'm waiting {notso} patiently. Haha

    Average Wait On Bcbs?

I didn't bring them with me, I signed the papers for them to receive them at my first visit on the 13th. I was so surprised when I got it in the mail the other day. I know even if BCBS doesn't approve me, I'll still be covered by UHC and have the surgery. But it would be nice to have both working for me. Good luck with yours!!! Hopefully it goes through soon!

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

Ahh that is wonderful news!! I figured my baby will find a way to get my supply back up, he still nurses quite a bit. I know that last fall I got a very bad virus and couldn't keep ANY liquid down for 3 days. Ended up in hospital. And within 15 minutes of the IV fluids going in, my supply jumped back up to normal and he was able to nurse. So I know what our bodies can and will do is amazing, and I have complete faith that while the sleeve may make it harder at first, we will bounce back to normal! Thank you for responding! It's encouraging!

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

Yeah I've been incredibly blessed to have not had any issues with supply or latch or anything. So I'm hoping that is a good sign for us trying to make it through this! And yeah, I think I'll have double the motivation to get the fluids down !

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

Thank you for that ^^ and I meant pain pills after c section and after I had my gallbladder out I only pumped and dumped one time and then went right to nursing him. I had lactation specialists and doctors advise me to just dump the one time. And he was only 5 weeks then. Now he's 10 months

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

Well I discussed the breastfeeding with Dr. Kim today and he didn't seemed phased by it. He just said I'd need to stay on prenatals, and absolutely make myself drink all the water, because the water is key. And then his team would help me make the best choices on foods and meals to keep both baby and me safe and healthy. :] Glad to have a doctor who supports my decision!
  13. Hi, I have my first appointment with the doctor on Friday. Emailing back and forth with his nurses has got both of my insurances to approve and cover the surgery, and she told me I would need a psych eval and one nutrition meeting. What else should I expect? How long before the doctor approves me? I'm so anxious. Haha. Tomorrow will probably be the longest day of my life. Oh, my dr will be Dr.David Kim in Texas.

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

I'm sure there will be set backs but after writing this thread, I searched for posts on similar situations and did find people who had succeeded at continuing to breastfeed. I know he's old enough to wean, but long ago I decided I wanted him to wean himself when he was ready. So I suppose I'll work very hard, pump a lot, try to get every bit of the liquids in and consume as much protein as I'm able. I will ultimately hope for the best and see what the outcome is. ) as far as the medicines in my system, I'm not too worried, and wasn't when I wrote the post. It was more about if anyone had been in this situation and was successful even with the decrease in caloric intake.

    Breastfeeding And The Sleeve

Well, in regards to the having to wait because of the medications used, how do they differ from having your gallbladder removed or any medications used in a c section, including pain meds like morphine and hydrocodone? Because I've had both done while breast feeding and didn't have to wait any amount of time. Was told I could wake up and feed, because by the time I awoke it was out of my system enough. Do they use different medications to put you to sleep or for pain?
