Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread
brlgirl replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello. I've got a question...I am at work, and if I want to keep my job I really can't read through all the "pages" to see if my answer has already been posted so I'm going to ask (ok maybe beg) for you really nice banders to help me. I have really been struggling...I was banded on April 26 and about a month later got my first fill (well actually it was my second because I didn't know that my dr. had put 3cc in during surgery so I am currently filled to just a hair over 4cc). I find when I eat I get full quicker than I did before surgery, but I am still getting hungry and the hunger is lasting longer than a 1/2 cup serving will fill--I have lost about 24.5 pounds and for the last week I have been gaining/loosing the same 2-3 pounds. I have read many posts on here saying that people are following/allotting themselves a 1200 calorie diet...well that's my problem. I have no idea what a 1200 calorie diet looks like. So....I thought I would ask you WW people if you have been able to follow a similiar plan? I have been on WW so many times that if it weren't for the weight I would probably be considered a lifetime member--but regardless I have always found it to be my program of choice. I am familiar with the points and how that works, but before I made the committment (and physched myself up to get a 3 year old to behave during the meetings) I wanted an honest opinion from those of you doing this every day, if this is something you would recommend to help me get on track and be able to "stay the course". Thanks in advance for helping me find a way to resolve this issue. -
Hello everyoney. I am so very excited...I am down 1 pound (242.5). I know this doesn't sound like much, but I went on a girls weekend and am so happy that I am down 1 pound because I could have been up a whole lot more.

To Those Of You Who Say You Don't Have Time For Exercise...
brlgirl replied to Violet953's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Funny...but exercising has never been one of my favorite things...but I have been really trying to start doing it so that my 3 year old son can see that it fun. Every evening he jumps on my lap and tells me that we need to go for a walk. Of course I have tried to make exuses...but he doesn't buy it...we have to go. He enjoys being able to ride his bike while mommy walks and I have to admit that it is fun to get out of the house and spend time with him in "nature". Not exactly sure what we are going to do when the temps in Houston reach 112 degrees (as the weather experts are prediciting) but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. -
Out Of Network W/ True Results Houston
brlgirl replied to cmoody821's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also going through True Results Houston (was banded 4/26 by Dr. Rielly) and I have just recieved the notificiation from my insurance company. They are "paying" for the surgery to repair the hiatial hernia so that left me the cost of the actual band. I am not for certain how much they are going to bill me for Dr. Reilly's services. Good luck to you -

Does The Monthly Visitor Lead To A Famished Feeling
brlgirl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey ladies...I was banded on 4/26 and on Monday started my period...fun stuff. Yesterday I was STARVING. I felt like I could eat everything set before me. I really tried to eat lots of protein and drink lots of water but that seemed to "go" right through me. I am hopeing this famished feeling is normal for a couple of days and then i will get back to the new normal of feeling full after a small meal. All comments wil be appreciated and hopefully I will be better able to deal with this next month. Thanks in advance. -
I have only been banded for a month and I appreciate your story. I wish you luck and you travel down this "new" path and hope you are able to once again find success.

The "gas" caused by the carbonation causes me to feel really full--almost bloated. I have tried soda on several occassions and it just doesn't taste good. Guess I'm finished with it now...which I know is best.

Hello everyone. I got my first fill this week (well actually it was my second as the dr. had already put about 3cc in the band during surgery, but I didn't know that there was anything in there). Anyway...I am down to 243.5...would be more but my "aunt flo" decided to visit this weekend...she'll be gone soon and I'll be back on track.

So very sorry to hear of your loss.

Hello everyone, I am up .5--247.5--I am getting my first fill tomorrow so I hope that it will end this up/down phase and I'll start to see some loss.

Itching At Port Site?
brlgirl replied to nursemarti's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded about a month ago and I had horrible itching. I finally had to take children's benadryl to ease itch. I was never so happy than when that itching finally went away!!!! -
Starting Liquid Diet Phase (Liver Diet)
brlgirl replied to ☠carolinagirl☠'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't experience that during the pre-op extravaganza . Could the headaches be caused from caffine "withdrawl"? Good luck to you. It's only a couple weeks and then you'll be onto the new you!!! -
I think mine has left the building...but...my husband is working 7 days a week and gets home at all kinds of crazy hours. I have been sleeping in another room just because I need to sleep so I can get up and teach little kiddos...and with his crazy schedule I just can't sleep. Praying that this summer he will be able to finally get offered a full time job at the company he's working as a "contract" employee and our lives can get back in sync.

Worried About Slippage Or Band Flip
brlgirl replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let's hope that both of us only have scar tissue and won't have to have the crazy thing "fixed". Good luck to you. -
Oh my gosh...I totally relate...when I got home after my surgery I stepped on the scale (really have no idea what I was thinking but oh well) and nearly cried when I discovered that it was up 10 pounds. Oh my...fortunately after a few days and lots of Water to flush that stuff out those 10 pounds came off and then some. Congrats on this big step!!!!

I totally understand!!! Counting the pre-op, I had lost 25 pounds...then I started mushies and slowly gained about 7 of those pounds back. I am on real food now and although I don't get my first fill until next week, I am making an effort to eat about 1200 calories and try to exercise. I have had to sit back and listen to everyone here who says that the "real" weight loss will happen after you start getting fills and actually feel full quicker. That is what I am waiting for. On the "up" side....I am 20 pounds lighter then when I first started this process AND I can feel that I have lost inches, because my tops are "hanging" better and my pants are getting a little loose around the waist. Hang in...you'll do fine. Here's a hug....

Worried About Slippage Or Band Flip
brlgirl replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have really been wondering about this too. I have my first fill next week and my port area is really sore and kinda lumpy. I am so afraid that the port is turned sideways--maybe it's not...maybe it's just sore because that area is healing...guess I won't find out till I go for my first fill next week. -
Good for you. I had one of those done a few years ago...for a few hours afterward I felt as if I were glowing. )

I have a really hard time waiting between bites when I eat eggs...they get c hold and icky. I eat 3 eggs for breakfast...but I have not had any fills yet so I can eat a bit more...and it does keep me full until about 10:00. I mix some salsa with the eggs to make them moist.

I am so excited that today I get to start on real food, but as i have read other people's posts I have become a bit scared. I understand that we are to really focus on getting Protein first then have some fruits and veggies. Ok...that sounds doable, but...where does one find how much protein a piece of meat has....especially if I am only eating about a cup total? I have started to make a point of looking at and reading packaging, but when I go to the freezer and pull out a package of vension, chicken or pork I have no idea how much protein there is (my husband is a hunter and the meat is packaged by a processing place). I would appreciate any help here that people can offer. Thanks

Thanks for this info. I don't have one of those apps for my phone so i guess I will just get to use a timer...but whatever works...right!!!!

I have done pretty well...and it sure did taste better than the mushies...so good to chew!!!! I have yet to have a fill so I am pretty much unrestricted. I need to really remember to chew and wait between bites.
