How Did You Feel After Your First Fill?
brlgirl replied to Banderina's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't really feel too much after my first fill. I felt the "full" feeling for a few days but then it went away. Sure...I was eating less, but I didn't have near the full feelings I have now as I am close to the 7cc mark. Don't worry...you'll find your zone...it'll come. -
Is Soda Bad Once In A While?
brlgirl replied to kittylove32's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I may be in the minority...but I will say that once in a while I drink a soda. I have given up dt. coke-it just doesn't taste good-but when I was sick I did drink 7-up (although it did get flat) and lately I have been craving orange soda...which by the time I finally drink it it's flat. I get very tired of water and iced tea and like you, I don't want to drink much juice because of the calories. Generally...only a couple sips of the soda and I'm fine...so I have started sharing one with my husband or my son...which makes us all happy. -
Teachers...how Long Did You Take Off
brlgirl replied to 4sweeties's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am an itinerant special education teacher and I had my surgery on April 26th--which was a Thursday. I went back to work on Monday--mostly because I had an ARD/IEP meeting I had to attend and it was near the end of the year and I really needed to be there. I was very sore and really should have taken half a day off, but didn't. I will admit that I went home and took a nap before picking up my son from daycare. I didn't tell anyone that I had the band surgery...I told them that I had a hernia repair (which I did). If I were to do it again I would have done it the same way...it felt better to get up and get back into my usual routine. Good luck to you. -
Congratulations on your recent wedding. No...you aren't at all crazy. I didn't start feeling the "full" feeling until my 3rd fill--that's also when I had my first "stuck" feeling as well. Even though you may not have that "full" feeling this is the time to start working on those behaviors such as not drinking during meals, eating slower, chewing lots, and being mindful of good habits such as eating protein first. Don't worry...you'll "feel" the fill soon...don't stress out....you have so much going on.

Gas X Thin Strip Vs Gas X Chewable For After Surgery
brlgirl replied to MissPYT's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I loved the Gas X-strips. They didn't taste all that great, but they dissolved quickly and were easy to carry in my pocket. -
My dr. said that it was recommended to take small sip between bites at it helps to move the food down. I have found that I am much more comfortable if I take a small sip between bites...especially if it is spicy or dry (like the chicken I had the other night). I am very midful not to take huge drinks and lots of times my glass is still pretty full when I'm finished eating.

I ready your question...and since I got banded I have not thought of eating popcorn. It is so funny how different we all are. Hope you enjoyed your splurge.

I love the Muscle Milk light--in the premixed container. I get it at Walmart and it tastes like chocolate milk to me.

Hello everyone. I gained 4 pounds this week--which is up to 200.4--but I am not at all upset by this gain. I have been sick for a month and was not able to eat much of anything--and I lost 20 pounds last month. This gain means that I am FINALLY able to eat again. I am certain that I will get this off in no time--once by body gets used to eating again.

I am looking forward to actually feeling comfortable in my bathing suit and maybe purchase a pair of Victoria Secret panties (this has been a life long dream since they don't carry plus size anything). I think I am most looking forward to walking into any store and being able to find something to wear.

I took the Centrum chewables and they made me gag every day. I switched to gummies and no...they don't taste that great, but I am able to easily swallow them. I think it's amazing how very different we all are. Hope you find something that works for you.

Good for you. I don't know about you...but I really don't care what a nurse says...I am doing this for me!! And boy have you been successful.

How about some mashed potatoes? It's not quite the same, but maybe the taste of potato will help??

Family Driving Me Crazy!
brlgirl replied to Joy1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate. I had my surgery in April and much to my chagrin I had to continue to cook for my husband and son. (My husband has a very strange work schedule so it is much easier for me to fix dinner than to expect him to do it). It was right then that I really got into Crock-potting. I could throw all the stuff together and then it was ready when he was. Made my life so much easier. I also would go for very short walks when it got to be too much. Don't worry...you'll be healed soon and will be able to enjoy meals with your family again. For now...just take one day at a time...and in the mean time plan on alternate activities...such as walking, leaving the house and do something you really enjoy. Don't worry...you'll do fine. -
Ginger Ale After Bad Stomach Virus??
brlgirl replied to mimi81082's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like Ginger ale, but this weekend I got very queasy and out of desperation I drank some diet 7-up...to be honest...I didn' t care about the carbonation...it was either drink it or throw up (and we were at a wedding and I just didn't want to throw up). I felt so much better after just a couple sips. I only drank about 1/3 of the can--my son drank the rest. I know that carbonation is a concern....but I feel that a few sips doesn't hurt anything--especially if it means that you aren't going to throw up. -
I have been taking meds this week due to pneumonia. My pills can be cut in half and I really try to take them with lots of water...but I do get really nauseus. I have had to really go slowly and take 1/2 at a time and allow time between each. I have also thrown up after taking a dose of my antibotic...the pharmasist told me it was very strong and that I needed to be sure to eat with it..well I forgot to eat and threw up. Believe me...I have never done that again.
-
Hello everyone. I am down 3.8 pounds (to 230.8) this week. I have been sick this week and the dr. gave me some antibotic that has literally taken away my appetite...so I have really been losing, but I know that these higher numbers will slow down once I finish the meds.
