Hello All, So I've had a bit of drama happen to me with my band. I got my band done in Mexico in March, went for my first fill in may, and was fine. Then went for my second fill in july, but was too tight. Being that I got my fills in Mexico, they couldnt help me in an emergency situation such as this because the doctors are only available one week a month in Tijuana. I ended up in the hospital due to dehydration, and had to do some research online to find a doctor in the Los Angeles area or the Orange County area. Luckily, I found one, and he did a complete unfill, and drained my band, and told me to go back in a month. I wasnt able to go back until September, and when I did, the Dr requested an UGI. Once I did that I was good to start over, and get my second "1st" fill. Now my problem is i went on friday, and over the weekend, i had NO restriction. So i went back on Monday, and got a readjustment and still no restriction. But due to being over filled in july from Mexico, I am freaked out about going back to get adjustment AGAIN. So my question is does anyone suggest anything? Please help?!

Well when I went in to get a complete unfill the dr took out 4ccs which was everything in the band. When I went back he put 2.2ccs. He told me I most likely wont feel restriction and told me to exercise more. When I was getting my fills in Mexico I would feel a restriction hours after the fill. I guess because of my experience from Mexico it put me in a situation that it scares me. I am basically able to eat anything and feel nothing. When I eat I am fine for hours. But I know I am suppose to eat 4-5 small amounts a day and I can't even do that. I don't know what's going on. I'm just frustrated. I need to be eating a balanced diet and because I'm always on the go its not helping. If anyone can help me create a menu that would be nice I have my gym pass but haven't been going consistently because I'm not eating enough throughout the day. I try to stick to nutritional snacks and protein for meals. I'm going to start "over" today with my eating so that I can go to the gym tonight. I guess we'll see what happens. Thanks for the responses. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2Cc In 4Cc Band- Little Restriction

I got my Lapband done in Mexico. I had an issue because after my second fill I was too tight that I couldn't even suck on ice cubes. I ended up in the hospital due to dehydration. I found a doctor near me that was willing to take me as a patient. He unfilled my entire band had me do an UGI to be sure my band wasn't effected ad basically start over with my fills. It's been a pain but I'm glad I don't have to go to Mexico anymore because I felt like they didn't care in emergency situations. Be careful and ur band is a 10cc band not 4cc. I thought the same thing but was reassured. I currently got my "first fill" since that incident in July and I was banded in march. Just make sure to take it slowly. I currently don't have that much of a restriction but I've managed to lose 3lbs. It just depends on ur food intake and exercise. Good luck! -
I Need Help!! Slime And Mucus!!

So I ended up finding a different doctor and he did an un-fill. Let me say that I feel soooo much better! I was WAY too tight. I'm going to stick with this doctor bc the doctor I was previously with was a total jerk. They just kept ignoring me! This new doctor offered to monitor me and he is so much closer than my previous doctor. Thanks for the advise everyone. It's much appreciated! -
Hi everyone so I got a fill last Friday, and was fine up until Tuesday. I started to have a slimy in my throat and mouth. It's causing me to not keep anything food or liquids down. I'm constantly throwing up, and spitting up this nasty discharge. Is there any suggestions on how to stop this? I've been without food and liquids for three days and I'm desperate. I've called the doctor and he's not available. Any type of help would be greatly appreciated!!! ((

I don't know if this is a stupid question or not, but as people with the lapband, are we supposed to be focusing on counting calories or counting carbs? I know that my protein intake is 60-80 grams, but which one should be the focus? carbs or calories? or both?? I've lost 26lbs in 2 and a half months, and I've gotten 1 fill. I know it is not time for me to get another fill because I don't feel like it is time yet. Anyone that can clarify please do. I had asked my doctor, and he was not very clear, because I need to get my food intake in order. I need to get down to 190 by september 16th, and i know it is doable, but need some advice! Please help!

Was banded on 03/22/12. I got my first fill on 05/17/12. I was told to been liquids for 24-48 hours than start foods as tolerated. My problem is I can drink almost anything, but today being the 48 hours later I cannot tolerate ANY food. No matter how soft or mushy it is. Does this mean I'm too tight? Or that I'm swollen? I need any advice please!! I'm crusted and a bit hungry!

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses! I called my doctor office and they advised me to give it a few more days so I did, and have to admit that because it was my first fill my body needed to adjust. I'm doing much better, and so far so good!

I've been banded as of 24 days ago. I didn't lose much weight pre-op, but in total lost around 17lbs. I was told my first fill is in 6 weeks which will be may 3rd. I have not been very active but am watching what I'm eating and am feeling frustrated because my weight goes from 234-238lbs which goes back & forth. I'm getting annoyed with my scale and I don't know what the problem is. I have not gotten stuck, but also feel that I have no restriction when I eat. Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong?

Weight Gaining!!! Help!!!
LiLEgYAnGeL03 replied to LiLEgYAnGeL03's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey thanks for the responses. I guess I need to be more patient. I haven't gone for my first fill yet, and have to agree this really is bandster hell. I also have a cold, and coughing causes my large incision area to feel very sore. So I need to go see what's going on there. I'll have to figure out a convenient way to keep track of my calories. Maybe there's an iPhone app I can find. I have to keep reminding myself that this will take time. Patience is virtue!
