Michigan Barix Clinics Dr. Jamokay Taylor

Agreed! Dr. Taylor did my sleeve 8 days ago and I feel great. I can't say enough about the entire staff. They took such amazing care of me.
  2. No problem! Just be sure the chicken is always covered by the water...if some simmers away just add it to the pot. That stock is fantastic and can be used for the base of any recipe that calls for stock which is why it's great to freeze. And it makes the house smell wonderful!!!
  3. Ingredients 4-5 lbs. chicken parts W/bones (legs, wings, thighs, whatever's on sale) 1 med. onion peeled and cut pole-to-pole 1 carrot, peeled and roughly chopped 1 rib celery, roughly chopped 7 peppercorns (optional) 10 or so stalks parsley Couple sprigs thyme Bay leaf Put chicken into a stock pot (at least 8 qts.) and add just enough Water to cover. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and let boil for 2 minutes, remove from heat and drain. Add enough water to cover chicken again and bring to a simmer (not a full boil) for about 2 hours. Add onion, carrot, celery and peppercorns and simmer for another hour. Tie parsley, thyme and bay leaf with twine and add to pot and continue to simmer for another hour. Remove from heat, strain into another pot, then cover and set in sink half-filled with cold water and a few handfuls of ice. Once stock has cooled, let sit in refrigerator overnight then remove and skim fat from surface of stock. Remaining stock will keep for about a week in the refrigerator, but should be brought to a boil again after 3 days if doing so. Can also be divided and frozen for about 6 months. You can halve or double this recipe. I would reheat a half cup at a time during my liquid phase. You will want to salt to taste as there will be none.

    I Hurt!

The belly binders for pregnant women work well and are comfy.
  5. My husband made me homemade stock, but if that's not an option for you try Swanson low sodium chicken broth. You can of course use any kind of broth, or ramen, many people have. Just watch the sodium if that's the route you take.

I was only in one night and even though I didn't sleep (too itchy from the Morphine) I didn't really feel like doing anything but lay there. I didn't shower before i left but if I had wanted too they had shampoo and conditioner.

    Sick Sick Sick Sick Sick

I'm six days out and had a bad day too. Hang in there, it will get better!
  9. 6 days post op and I took a colace caplet. Had results and no problems.
  10. Headache , shaky, sweaty panic attack crappy feeling today. I'm so crabby. My incisions hurt and itch. Can't stop thinking I've made a huge mistake and ruined the rest of my life. I know it will pass but holy hell what a day.
  11. Feeling better. Had a long conversation with my BFF who had surgery a year ago. That and everyone's posts definitely helped. Thanks to all <3

    Protein Shake Combos

I'm five days out and put 1/2 c OJ, 4 frozen strawberries and two frozen peaches in a blender, add protein powder and make a smoothie. I've done this twice a day for the last two days and I've lost six pounds. I average 400 calories a day, I'm supposed have 600. The fruit contains pectin which will make you feel full and adds vitamins without stacking a lot of calories. Good luck to you!
  13. No, it's tomato based. Tomato soup has a lot of acid and can be tough for some sleeves to handle.

    Didnt Do Endoscopy!

I had to do clear liquids the day before surgery. Some have to do 1 to 2 weeks.

    Didnt Do Endoscopy!

I didn't need an endo and only had to do one day of full liquids pre-op. my pre-admission testing consisted of an EKG, full blood panel, urinalysis, and nutrition class.
  17. I know it's difficult to do, but try not to focus on the numbers. This surgery, this journey is about being healthy and living a healthy life style. Don't base your success on the number on the scale or bmi. Judge your success on how you feel. Set your goals based on what your comfortable with, not what some calculator or website tells you. Best of luck to you!
  18. I did the same exact thing except I used a heating pad. I'm three days post op and still pretty sore. The heating pad helps with the muscle pain and gas x strips help with those gas bubbles. Hang in there and good luck to you!
  19. Call your surgeons office ASAP.
  20. Sounds just like me this morning! Hang in there!
  21. I've been researching and planning for this day for a year and a half. My brain can not possibly retain any more information. I'm lucky that my husband is supportive (though terrified) and my parents are so proud of me. I've been nothing but super excited until about an hour ago. The nerves are starting to creep in. I had a brief "Oh my God what am I about to do" moment that quickly passed. I think I'm mostly dreading the whole hospital stay. I know its only one night and it will pass fairly quickly and I guess if I have to be nervous about anything, why not my very first hospital stay?
