I also have to meet with the dietician which is understandable. But there is nothing wrong mentally with me as it is the band just does not work with my body -
Well waiting for date to remove and revise to bypass

Since my body doesn't like the band I will be having it out then converting to bypass But I had to take the psych test again and meet with the psych Did that and the psych wants to meet a few more times as I apparently have a high self esteem. I think his is a waste of time. But will play the game -
After years of success, my body is rejecting the band - cany anyone else relate?

My surgeon said if you have reflux issues the sleeve is not a good choice it will not take care of the issue My insurance approved my band to bypass but they advised me that it was like starting over as my band was placed 6 yrs ago also some insurance plans do not cover the sleeve as there is not enough data to show success as some sleeves end with the bypass -
What Percentage Of People Have Acid Reflux Issues Post Surgery
rocky900 replied to marketingdude's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have my band for about 6 yrs. I had an ulcer about 2 wks after surgery and took protonix for about a yr after. Then insurance changed and then had to take Prilosec once a day then acid got worse the PA advised to take 2 a day. The insurance and pharmacist questioned it but that is what the PA advised. Still got the reflux. He deflated my band and did the barium X-ray and GI. The dr that did the GI stated that the band seems to be making my stomach mad. Went back to the PA he started to full the band again and will then fill again well the reflux is still there but not yet as bad. It is not what I have been eating or that the band is tight I think that it is the band. I go in on Friday to talk with the PA again. I am think of removal and going with the bypass I read that with the by pass this will (may) take care of the reflux -
Here is my issue I was having a lot of reflux and taking the Prilosec (generic) twice a day still had the reflux. They took out all the fluid Had the wonderful barium swallow and the went in for the scope. After the scope the dr said he did not see any issues from the reflux. He just said the band is pissing my stomach off and probably should have it out Come to see me in 3 weeks. Well I saw the PA ( he is the one that we see for fills and such). As I had an appointment scheduled with him for follow up after the tests Well the PA looked at the test results and said everything was fine and he put 3ml (whatever measurement) and we would work back up to were I was before deflation. Well that was a week a go I stopped taking the Prilosec to see what will happen and sure as heck I had reflux. Well it felt like the start of reflux. So I started taking the pills again. So basically I am frustrated. Sick I the reflux I have yet to make the appointment. With the dr that did the scope. (he was the same surgeon the place my band 5-6 yrs ago). So I am thinking that u will be calling him this week to schedule something. But don't want to piss of the PA that I see (they are in the same office) Even with the rapid fill that the PA did I still am hungry and have slight acid Think I am kind of done The most I have lost with the band is 50 lbs have kept it off.

Correct I don't know you and you don't know me I am glad that you are doung your research amd looking into to the pros you also need to look into the cons also You can research all you want and follow the rules to a T but complications can still happen. I have had my band for over 5 years and have gone through the ups and downs, fills and unfills following and not following the rules. Also went along time just giving up So it is kind of hard to have someone say you need To follow what the doctor says when they have not been there yet. I wish you luck in your journey and hope the band works for you if and when you ever or decide to get it

Also not sure why someone who is not banded would even advise anything about this

Hi I had all or most of the fluid out of my band last month but mine was due to reflux issues. I had a scope of my stomach and everything looked fine but the doc said the band is pissing my stomach off and should be removed. Haven't yet decided what to do But i think with the band being deflated I don't think it will slip. If any thing it may put the band back in the correct place if it slipped b4 the removal of fluid. But not 100%. I just know I wasn't hungry a lot at the start of the month and now I am hungry and could eat a lot but trying not to

If ur insurance is through ur employer they may not have lap band coverage under the plan If it is individual insurance (u pay all premiums) then it would depend on the plan u choose if it is covered and any waiting periods check with the broker or the ins company
