Dear Stallers And Not Losing Weighters
SkinnyOnMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dear people who are in a stall or not losing weight, Stop weighing yourself everyday. Just my advice. If you are eating right and exercising you will lose the weight unless there is a medical problem... which is not usually the case. Your body is not a machine. It takes time. Maybe try weighing in once a week or better yet every 2 weeks. I got rid of my scale altogether and I only weigh myself when I go to visit my mother which is within the time frame I just gave you. I don't think I have had any stalls... but I wouldn't know because I focus on my well-being and NSV's, not pounds on a daily basis. Now if 1 or 2 months goes by and no weight loss and you are doing everything right- then worry. But besides that don't stress so much. I am only posting this because I feel sorry for those of you who are so stressed out. I am about happiness and optimism and I thought I'd spread it a little. :-) Have a good and healthy day! Sincerely, Shadayo -

Near And Yet So Far, Then I Chickened Out And Decided No Surgery.
SkinnyOnMe replied to AdeleRN's topic in Insurance & Financing
My advice is to go through all the necessary steps and make your surgery date in January. Between now and January get on Nutri-system. Honestly Nutri-system worked for me. The only reason it stopped working is because I stopped working and I couldn't afford it anymore. My stomach got smaller just with me training it to do so. It may sound dumb but the sleeve was a cheaper and easier option. Now maintaining the weight is going to be much harder for u but it can be done. I've watched my mother maintain a 100 pound weight loss for years. The reason I give you this advice is because I truly believe in signs. -
Everybody's doctor tells them differently but my advice is to wait until you are totally off all painkillers and any other meds that you are not suppose to drink with. After that consume in moderation. Many people move the food addiction to an alcohol addition so you have to be careful. My NUT told me to go ahead when I asked at 4 weeks and I probably could have started earlier.

Almost 1 Year Need Help!

Sucks. Get your thyroid checked. I started about the same as you at 244, I'm 2months out and 31 pounds down. How have you been losing since the beggining? Has it always been slow? There may be something going on. -
I went 2 weeks max... maybe a week and a half before liftin.g him. But 8it was limited. At 4 weeks out I was back at my normal all day pick up.

If you follow my posts you will see that I have a very lax NUT who is not strict at all with my diet, just wants me to eat right and adhere to my restriction. So far, so good. Now... I see that many people are appalled at carbs in any form so I want to know what your carb counts for the day are. What should you be eating according to your NUT and how much are you actually eating? How about fats?
-
Wow that's low. I just go by the guidelines of MFP that say 150carbs a day. No... I am usually no where near that but on my high days I just make sure I don't go over that. Hmmmm.... something to think about

Body Fortress Creatin Side Effects
SkinnyOnMe replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Creatine is LIKELY SAFE for most people when used at recommended doses. Creatine can cause stomach pain, nausea, diarrhea, and muscle cramping. When taken by mouth in high doses, creatine is POSSIBLY UNSAFE. There is some concern that it could harm the kidney, liver, or heart function. However, a connection between high doses and these negative effects has not been proven. Creatine causes muscles to draw Water from the rest of your body. Be sure to drink extra water to make up for this. Also, if you are taking creatine, don't exercise in the heat. It might cause you to become dehydrated. Many people who use creatine gain weight. This is because creatine causes the muscles to hold water, not because it actually builds muscle. There is some concern that combining creatine with caffeine and the herb ephedra (also called Ma Huang) might increase the chance of having serious side effects such as stroke. There is concern that creatine might cause irregular heartbeat in some people. But more information is needed to know if creatine can cause this problem. There is concern that creatine might cause a skin condition called pigmented purpuric dermatosis in some people. But more information is needed to know if creatine can cause this problem. Special Precautions & Warnings: Pregnancy and breast-feeding : Not enough is known about the use of creatine during pregnancy and breast-feeding. Stay on the safe side and avoid use. Kidney disease or diabetes : Don’t use creatine if you have kidney disease or a disease such as diabetes that increases your chance of developing kidney disease. There is some concern that creatine might make kidney disease worse. -

I am at the point when Protein shakes give me nausea. Now most Bolthouse Farms products only have soy protein but this has both whey and soy and they say tha this is a great balance because the different rates of digestion and benefits. Anyways most importantly this tastes GOOD. Not the cheapest but affordable on any budget. -

Fet Cycle - I'm Already Gaining Weight!
SkinnyOnMe replied to clk's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
How about you try to lose a little weight before you get pregnant. If I decide to have another child I plan on losing 10 pounds prior. -
That sounds like a dream. If you can get the bread down then it doesn't sound too bad to me as an occasional meal. My philosophy with all this is not to restrict anything- just limit it. Moderation is key!

Has Anyone Backed Out And Tried The Pre-Op Diet?
SkinnyOnMe replied to angelakay2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well...... It would be very hard to stick to the pre-op diet without the surgery long-term.If it were that easy you would have probably already lost the weight. However,if you could stick to it (for arguments sake) then you wouldn't be stuck with an abnormally small stomach that makes you not be able to eat hardly anything forever. I don't think this surgery is for every overweight person. But read into it 1 more time and if you chose to join the sleeve community then here's an early welcome! BTW... I've lost more weight in the past 6 weeks than I could ever imagine! -

16 Mos Out...disappointed
SkinnyOnMe replied to tntransplant06's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When I was told about this surgery my doctor told me that there are 2 kinds of patients that he recommends for the sleeve. 1.) People that need to lose 100lbs or less 2.) People that are excessively overweight like 325+ that are planning on getting Gastric bypass afterwards. Basically using the sleeve as a step 1. My doctor doesn't volunteer a lot of info but this was the first thing I heard. Therefore maybe you should consider getting your step 2.
