Lap band to Sleeve (BCBS HORIZON?)
cleescruggs replied to lori72492's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I loved my band and lost 95 lbs but I threw up a lot so the the doctor suggested the sleeve. Well she took all the Fluid out of the band 6 months before the sleeve so I gained 45 lbs back fast. I now am down 65 lbs. Still not back to the original amount I lost with the band. I would not do it again. I have never been the same and its been 2 years. My fatigue is horrible and Ive aged a lot. I follow the guidelines and take all my Vitamins. My check ups are great and all levels are normal. Just can't figure out what happen to me. I seem to be the only one when I talk to a lot of other women. Maybe some one on here is facing what I go thru. I don't know -

I am 53 and lapbanded on 9/20/12.
cleescruggs replied to Annette Corrado's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was also banded in 2012 lost 90 and gained 25 back from stress eating. Need to get 50 off but no motivation. I'm the type of person that if I fail I have a hard time getting back up. Carbs are my downfall. Do you count calories and carbs or just go by what your band lets you do. -

Feeling So Discouraged! No Restirction, Band Almost Full!
cleescruggs replied to honeydew008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am in the same situation! I have never reached my green zone. I am now at 8 cc's and can still eat an 8 oz steak and a baked potato like its nothing! I ask my doctor about another fill and she said she does not want to fill me because my stress level is off the wall. I need to mentally get fit before my band will work properly. (I've had a bad year with a sick grandchild that almost died). Does stress really effect the band. I've gained 20 lbs this year when I really needed to lose 30. Now I have 50 to lose. So scared I'll gain my weight back. And all the weight I've gained is in my stomach only, I look like im 9 months pregnant. Before surgery my fat was distributed differently. This is so scary. Any suggestions! -

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
cleescruggs replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been reading the post and I was wondering what everyone thinks. I have 8cc's and can still eat anything and have no restriction. Doctor says that can't be possible. I'm stress eating but I tell you I am hungry all the time and can eat anything. -

Is The Band Really Failing You, Or Are You Failing The Band?
cleescruggs replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
food addiction is a sickness no different then alcoholism or drug addiction or being bulimic or anorexic! And I'm sure there are people who have the band that are suffering with food addictions. I was one of those with a food addiction but the lapband helped me be satisfied with good foods and small portions for a long time and I lost a lot of weight. Well I am up to 8cc of fill and I can say I cannot lose anymore weight and I have exercised and ate only Protein and veggies for months and months and everyday I fight because I am never full or satisfied. I wake up hungry and go to bed hungry so what do you say to someone who follows all the rules and struggles because the lapband has not helped to keep them full or satisfied. My doctor states I should be able to go 4 hours and not be hungry because the food goes in your stomach and stays in the area where the hormones tell the brain I'm full now I don't need anymore. Well those hormones are not working in me. I struggle everyday since I've had my band. Watching the clock for my next protein and veggie meal. Any thoughts on whether the band is not working, My doctor says I should not need a fill with 8cc's in there. -

18 MONTHS OUT AND GAINING WEIGHT
cleescruggs replied to cleescruggs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, some great ideas and encouragements plus a great song! I am going to do all three. Missy God Bless you! I do need to think of me. For some reason I grew up thinking everyone was more important then me. We were taught to look out for others and do for others. I need to learn all over again that no one in my family can take care of me but me. Thanks for all the inspiration! -

18 MONTHS OUT AND GAINING WEIGHT
cleescruggs posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I just wanted to get some feedback from people that are having a rough year. I know this might not be a good excuse for gaining weight but I've had a heck of a year when it comes to taking care of me. I did great the first year losing 85 lbs. I went to the gym regularly and was toned and looking good. Well my 5 year old granddaughter had a simple outpatient surgery that went wrong and spend 2 months in the hospital fighting for her life. Her being the light of our lives almost did me and my husband in. During this time I was gaining weight like crazy. I also didn't go to the gym anymore my days were spent watching other grandchildren so my son and his wife could be at the hospital or us at the hospital. To make a long story short my granddaughter is getting better each day and Ive tried to get back on track to lose the 22 lbs I gained. I got a fill so I now have 8 cc's in my band, which I think is a lot, but I am constantly hungry and can eat like I don't have a band. Yesterday I get the new from my sister she has breast cancer and it is not good. I will be going thru a lot to be with her during this stage of her life. My questions is HELP!! Someone please give me some advise on how I'm going to keep my weight off and take care of me during this time of my life. -
Three Weeks Post Op & Pain Under Left Rib Cage - HELP!!!
cleescruggs replied to jennifernj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had this left side pain also. I am due for a fill today but of all times I am constipated. I have tried stool softners, laxatives, MOM and now suppositories and still can't go. Its been a week and I am getting worried. Also did Miralax all weekend, nothing. I guess I am impacted and don't know what to do. I have had my band a year and lost around 80 lbs. I have never been able to go unless I take something. This time is the worse. Any suggestions before I see the doctor today. I need this fill. I have no fluid in my band, doctor took it all out, because of reflux so this is my first fill since October. -

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
cleescruggs replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
No I've never been there. Was stuck all the time so I have no fluid in my band and its been a rough 4 months. Maybe I should call the doctor and ask for one, stuck or no stuck. My cravings are horrible. Thank God I have managed to get about 2 more pounds off in March but that is it. -
Any bandings in April???
cleescruggs replied to gg83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am interested in a reply of the April bandsters from 2012. I am down 85 lbs. I am really beating myself up because my anniversary date is April 6th and I was hoping for 100 lb loss. Can I hear from the April bandsters and your weight loss so I can put my 85 lbs in perspective. Is it normal or am I falling behind. Thanks Cindy -
Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
cleescruggs replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't know about anyone else but the Carb Cycling broke my plateau but now I get to where I can't go without carbs even one day. I don't know whats wrong but I crave carbs terribly. How do I get off this merry go round??? -
I wish I could lose also. I have lost 2 lbs in 3 months and workout regularly and stick to 1200 calorie diet. Get all my protein in and use myfitnesspal to track religiously. Im at a loss for words how depressed I am about this. I have 50 more lbs to go. I have tried to go back to the protein drinks then mushies but don't have the willpower I use to have for that. I start out great then by day 4 I want to eat everything in sight. I have no fluid in my band because I was getting stuck with everything I ate. Not even two to three bites and I was stuck and vomiting all the time. My doctor says if I can lose 4 lbs in 6 weeks that is good. I can't even do that. I have lost 80 lbs so far. I think I will go back to my support groups at my hospital. I think I need it.
