You look amazing! CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done! -
Today I drank my 1st whole beer. It was a Cornita 7oz! I never liked the taste of beer prior to my surgery and after my surgery I CRAVED it. I've had sips here and there, but not a whole small bottle by myself. So being a beautiful warm day, Tuesday being my 6mo mark and my son coming over I thought I'd try one and it was so good. I had no problems with carbonation

Day 5 Post Sleeve and still nauseous!
nanaspez replied to jessinoz4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That did the trick for me too. Doctor tried couple of meds that did not work, my friend who went through chemo told me that the pot brownie was her life saver. So, got a hold of one and my stomach felt so much better the tightness and pain all relaxed. I tried this 2 months back and I still use it time to time to help. I do not get the "munchie" effect, it just settles it down enough to eat. By my weight loss you can tell I have not over eaten! My doctor at Stanford also agreed to use the pot brownie..his words "What ever gets you eating..DO IT!" -
6 MONTH MILESTONE - WE MADE IT!
nanaspez replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was a long hard road to get here but things are getting better everyday. Haven't been able to exercise due to multiple medical issues and not eating enough calories to exercise. My doctors do not want me to lose anymore weight. Hard when you average 700 calories a day! -
How about ice chips? They saved me at the beginning Good luck, it does get better

Day 5 Post Sleeve and still nauseous!
nanaspez replied to jessinoz4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved Oct 30th and I still have periods of nausea but it is SO much better than before. Hang in there because it DOES get better. -
So size DOES matter! (Sorry could't resist )

I am 3 days away from 6 mos and started losing my hair around the 4 1/2 mo mark. I believe it is inevitable, there are people here that did everything by the book and still lost hair. I prepared myself because I had a hard time getting protein in. Thankfully, it is only temporary!

nanaspez replied to djchase's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Believe me, it gets better and because of your age your healing will probably be faster than some of older sleevers. I was dead to the world for the 1st 31/2 months, (sleeve and other medical problems that arose made it difficult) I would recommend you get protein powder, such as Unjury Strawberry Sorbet, it is not thick and it is refreshing especially with lemonade. I also mix the unflavored one with my milk in the morning and mix it with protein cereal. I am 5mos out and feeling so much better, especially my energy. It is still low but so much better. Hang in there, you'll be dancing that happy dance really soon! -
How the sleeve saved my life

You look amazing, congratulations on a job well done! -
I only told certain people, not out of embarrasement but out of personal choice. I do tell people NOW that the surgery is done. I did not tell anyone because I did not want people to try to talk me out of it. I have many medical issues and I knew that people would worry about my health. I just did not want to hear it!! I needed to stay positive and surround myself with supportive people

I was on a emotional roller coaster for about 2 mos. Yikes giving up smoking and this surgery, no wonder why your miserable. Hope things get better soon for you

Not to be gross.. Does anyone have lots of diarrhea 6 days after surgery? Is it unusual?
nanaspez replied to birdie1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 mos out and I had the runs all the time until one month ago. Turned out I had become lactose intolerant and even though I cut out all diary the runs continued. Turned out my protein powder had milk in it. Since I changed to lactose free protein powder I am now regular. Good-luck -
what do you eat for breakfast?
nanaspez replied to MK1986's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5mos post-op-----1/2 scoop of unflavored protein powder mix in 1 cup milk and cereal. Toast with 2 tbls peanut butter, or a protein shake. -
Is anyone critical of their body more now?
nanaspez replied to compass75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am more critical of myself. I have saggy arms and thighs. My tummy really isn't too bad. I think sit-ups should help tighten it up. My size 6 pants are getting baggy and that scares me, I'm happiest at size 9-10. When I go into the dressing room, I just get sad, looking at my arms, thighs and breasts! The only good thing is people tell me I look 10 years younger! -
"Eating-too-fast syndrome".... anyone else?
nanaspez replied to racoon_439's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 months out and I do have to remind myself not to eat so fast. I sometimes take a bite and get up walk while I chew then sit down and do it again. I am really bad with waiting too long to eat and then I eat too fast. Good-luck -
I'm back and mad as hell!

Good-luck on your surgery. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is to have more than one protein powder on hand. The protein powders I loved prior to surgery, I could not stomach. Unjury has a chicken broth powder that is yummy and the plain I sprinkle on my food (no taste of the powder at all) and the strawberry sorbet with lemonade/water is so yummy. Those are now the only ones I drink. Keep us posted on your surgery!
