My surgeon and dietitian suggested I look into the sleeve instead of the band. I love the idea of the band but now they are making me rethink it. I have about 150lbs to lose to get down to a normal weight for me. They said that much weight rarely happens with the band.

So maybe I'm just being impatient because i feel like I have been going through this Pre surgery stuff forever. It's only been a month haha. I had my 1st surgeon appt... Passed. Had my psych eval... Passed. Had physical therapy eval... Passed. Tons of labs, EKG, chest X-ray done. Had nutrition eval today and she wants to follow up in 5 weeks!! Ugh that's forever. And she gave me a paper to go get Vitamin d supplements. She asked me what I ate yesterday and based on that she told me I'm not getting nearly enought Protein or Vitamin D and I need to eat MORE calories!!! What!!! Also the dietitian and surgeon and trying to talk me into the sleeve and now I'm second guessing myself. She said I needed to be on the vitamin d supplements for 10 weeks omg! Ughhhh

The dietitian said i am eating all the right foods. I eat really healthy 98% of the time. She was shocked on all the fruits an veggies and healthy alternatives I was eating. I rather have veggies than a cupcake anyway. She said I just need to keep doing what I'm doing. I have back problems and I havnt been able to go to the gym like I need but I can't find the motivation.

On my way to my dietitian and psych appt. kind nervous. Not really sure what to expect
-
Well the dietitian was shocked how well I eat. I don't eat fast food. I graze but on fruits and veggies. Salad is my favorite thing. I only eat fat free ice cream, milk, cheese, etc for years. Yes the vitamin d is over the counter. I told her a normal day for me is 2 cups milk and fruit in am, a salad and maybe a sandwich or wrap or soup for lunch and a pasta for dinner. With snacks of tomatoes, carrots and fat free ranch somewhere in there. She was kinda suprised. She said I know about 1800 calories a day. She said if I don't get that my body will have a harder time losing. And with the protein I eat chicken alot but I guess not enough ha.

It went well. They actually told me wrong and I just had my psych appt today and everything else tomorrow. The spot went well. The social worker just asked me a bunch of random questions. Who is my support system? Why am I doing this? Etc. so easy. She said that unoffically I'm approved but I will have to wait a few weeks for offical approval.

I have it too and they didn't look twice at it

What? Is An Intern Doing My Procedure?
Bel12 replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I work in a hospital and trust me the intern will be doing the procedure. I know it might seem scary but interns can be better than a seaoned doc sometimes. They are so scared of screwing up, they are so careful and take their time. Don't be scared if anything happens the attending will r there -
See I'm a grazer with healthy foods. I get chips and dip like once every 6 months. I never eat fast food I don't eat fried food. I graze on cherry tomatoes, carrots, celery, fruit, pickles, 100 calorie cookies. I only eat fat free or super low fat ice cream but rarely. I loveeee to cook and bake but dont really eat what I bake. But still I can't lose weight.

It's for a call and I have my doc consult today!! Ahhhhhhh what questions should I expect him asking.

Fees Fees And More Fees!!!!
Bel12 replied to ecapitini's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yah I paid $300 for a program fee today. Worth it though -
I think I'm a grazer. I don't eat out of emotion I eat bc I think I'm hungry. I eat bc I get cravings and I HAVE to get it.

Saw the surgeon today. He was nice but kind of pushin the sleeve on me instead of the Lapband. I don't want the sleeve and he said that's fine but it was a little strange. I have my psych eval and dietitian eval in 2 weeks. Super excited
-
No bcbs but I did all the leg work before and I know they cover it. I don't know how people can self pay I'm so broke. More power to you though
-
Got my Pre op appt with psychologist, dietitian and physical therapy 2 weeks from today!!! Them the sugeron will either be the next day or a week from that. Super excited to be making progress!!!
-
Wow that is so quick. I was guessing I would be another 2-3 months before I get surgery. Good luck tomorrow

Fees Fees And More Fees!!!!
Bel12 replied to ecapitini's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have bcbs il and I have to pay up to my deductible which will be about 2000 out of 20,000 so I'm not complaining. My dic says the support groups are not mandatory but yours might be different. You have to remember you will have to have labs done and some people are made to do X-rays, swallow evaluation, echo, etc. and it doesn't cover the Pre psych eval and dietitian. You will have to take vitamins the rest of your life and those can be $60 a month with your protein supplements. You will pay for fills which that varies. It all adds up but do worth it when you are healthy. -
Help. Rash After Band
Bel12 replied to Luv2sing920@aol.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you allergic to shellfish? If you are it might be the iodine used to clean you before surgery -
Wondering if I can take my favorite chunky soups or campells and just blending them up and still follow the rules?
-
Has anyone ever had their gall bladder out then been banded? Is the pain of recovery about the same?
-
My t4 was out of whack as well but I don't remember the number but my TSH is 4.98. My doc put me on 50mg levothyroxine. Today was my first day on it so I'll he interested to see what happens. Im tired alllllll the time but I also had a sleep study that said i have insomnia and out of 6 hr of sleep I only 38 mins of deep sleep. No wonder I'm so exhausted and with hypothyroidism I can't believe I can make it through the day.
-
For the people who have hypo what were your numbers before meds if you don't mind. Just want to know where I fall. I'm like right I'm te edge but since there is such a huge "normal" range I'm curious. I hope this all make me feel better bc right now I feel like crap. Taking my first rx sleep pill even though I've had insomnia all my life. Taking my first thyroid med tomorrow and I got an X-ray of my back and might have to start pain injections. It's nice to start gettin answers about my health and start doing something about it
-
Thanks I'm a nurse and after a long day I can't explain the thyroid Hahahha I start my meds tomorrow so I'll let you all know
-
I have hypo. If its under .3 then it's hyper. 4.9 is hypo. I havnt said anything to surgery yet bc I just found out today and I havnt even had my consultations yet but I know someone told me that they wanted your thyroid under control before surgery

Really dreading the idea of sagging boobs and extra skin but the extra fat doesn't look any better than extra skin and at least I would be health. Going to have to sit done with my hubby and warn him. Havnt even had kids yet so that won't help
