It was super hard. But I knew I had to do it in order for the surgery to go on. Looking ahead at the future was a huge motivation because after the surgery I knew I would be on a road to success!

After surgery have you tried foods you used to eat? I am so nervous I will never get to eat the foods I enjoyed (but only in moderation and if a homemade food, only made with fat free/low fat food) Heres my worries: tamales? enchalidas? pancakes? waffles? Pasta? rice? tortillas? I know some have said it depends on if the person can tolerate it or not... if thats the case do you just have to eat it and find out??? Surgery is Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So if the white potatoes are not that good for us what about making red or purple mashed potatoes??? Or even using the yukon gold potatoes?

I plan on logging and I have already started looking up healthy alternative recipes for the food I want to eat. I will do all in moderation and hope I make wise choices in the future since my choices in the past have got me no where good

I'm getting banded this Thursday 6/28 and I was wondering if you can help... After surgery what can I expect the pain to be like? What will happen if I go to a Mexican food resturant again someday with my family what can I expect to eat? what about a Chinese food resturant? What can I expect to eat in the weeks, months to follow. I have been doing so much research but I feel I am not prepared ( I actually am) but my mind is racing. I am getting nervous and anxious about the surgery but it has been a long time waiting so I am ready. Thanks for any and all help!!!

What about pancakes and waffles (of course no butter and light syrup) have you tried them?

I need a Protein drink I can actually get down... I bought some whey Protein powder and needless to say It wont be my source of protein. Have you ever tried Ensure or Boost??? If so, which one is better by taste ( and I mean actually drinkable and taste good). If you could please send some advice, stories, recepices, links it would all be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got approved June 7th, went in for testing June 12th, and now I am scheduled for surgery ON JUNE 28th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels like this journey has taken forever but really only since March. I am so excited to finally get my life back on the right healthy track. Started my pre-surgery diet today! Any tips on recovery, food to eat/not to eat or just some good ol' advice would be greatly appreciated

Me!!! I just got approved today after waiting a long grueling month. Nurse said I should hopefully get banded the last week of June I'm getting so nervous now but so stinking excited!!!!

I am the same way. I have tried every diet under the sun and only loose a few pounds and gain it back. I have been overweight for a few years now, with it at its highest ever. I have currently gone through the whole process with my doctor and I have heard back from my insurance and all they need is a medical clearance from my PCP. I am doing that Thursday so hopefully after that I will be on the road to surgery. Good luck to you and this journey you are about to take!!!!

I too am new and have enjoyed this site so much. Everyone who posts has had great advice, helpful tips, and put some of my worries to rest. I have gone through all the doctor visits and am awaiting to be approved by insurance. It will be two weeks on Monday and I hope to hear an answer soon.
