    4th Fill Coming & FRUSTRATED!!

I was banded January 26th and have had 2 fills - going for 3rd fill this Thursday. I have little to no restriction. I have lost almost 30 lbs. I think alot has to do with food choices and making sure you drink lots of Water and exercise. I walk at least a mile every evening and drink lots of water during the day and that seems to keep me full where I don't eat as much. I am hoping this next fill will give me some restriction so that I can drop more Lbs before summer! Good luck everyone - it wont be easy but we can all achieve our goals! Kim Dr. Spivak Banded 1/26/07 236/208/165 First Fill 3/1 - 1.5cc Second Fill 3/22 - .5cc (total of 2cc in 4cc band) Third Fill scheduled 4/12

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

I had my first fill at Surgicenter and Dr. Spivak did it. I am on my 3rd fill and still no restriction! Fills don't hurt - just like getting a shot really, maybe a little worse but not much. You will be fine! Kim Banded 1/26/07 Dr. Spivak 236/210/165

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

He is still doing fills at both places until he gets all the equipment installed in his office. I am going next week to do a fill in his office. I believe most folks that use surgicenter are for first fills - but not sure.

    Dr. Spivak's patients .....

Hi Everyone, I was banded by Dr. Spivak on January 26, 2007. I had a WONDERFUL experience with Dr. Spivak and everyone at Park Plaza. Did not expereience much gas pain at all! The worst part for me was getting in and out of bed - that lasted about a week I guess. I have had two fills so far. The first one did not work, went back in a week after the fill and it was not there. They told me that was pretty normal for the first fill and she gave me another using the Omni Pak (?) thicker solution. Still not much restriction so going back for another fill next week on Thursday. I am pleased with the loss so far but want to feel that restriction so that I don't over do it. I am exercising every night and I know that helps a lot! Good luck everyone with your weight loss - I know we will all do great! Kim Banded 1/26/07 Spivak - Houston 236/212/165 First Fill 2/22 1.5cc Second Fill 3/1 - first fill gone added another 1.5cc of Omni Pak Third Fill - Scheduled for 3/22
  7. My first fill was the same way. When I went back in for 2nd fill the first one was gone. I was told that is pretty normal that your first fill sometimes is absorbed by the band?? 2nd Fill 1.5cc - still no restriction. Going next week for 3rd fill - hopefully that will give me some restriction. My fills are free for the first year so I plan on getting as many as I need! I lost 20 Lbs the first 3 weeks after surgery but nothing since then - and have not gained any so that is good! Kim Banded 1/26/07 Dr. Spivak - Houston 236/215/165 Goal!

    port placement

My port is directly under my scar. I guess it depends on the surgeon and where he places it. I am sure they are all different!

    Pain in Shoulder

The pain is most likely caused by gas. It really helps A LOT if you walk around when the pain starts. Walking was the key for me. Have not had the pain in my shoulder since about the 2nd week after surgery!
  10. I was Self-Pay in Houston and went in to meet surgeon on a Saturday and had the surgery 6 days later. No pre-op testing required for me. It's been 6 weeks now and down 23 Lbs!

    Newbie Here!

I went in for my meeting with the surgeon on a Saturday and had the surgery the following Friday. I was self-pay as well. Yes, it will be fine for you to have children. All they will do is remove all of the fluid around the band to allow you to eat for two. You won't have to get the band removed. Good luck - best thing I ever did!

    Incision treatments

I use Vitamin E here as well as lotion. I had the Strips on mine as well - no glue.

    First fill on monday

It not bad at all - just like getting a shot really. It only takes a few minutes. Don't worry it will be fine and well worth it!

To band, or not to band....

PBing is throwing up/vomiting! I don't regret getting banded at all. I have been banded since January 26, 2007 and have lost about 25 lbs. so far. I have not had any problems and would get the surgery again in a heartbeat. My sister also had the surgery and lost all of her excess weight within the first 9 months! I have about 55 Lbs to go and can't wait! There is deffinately life after this surgery - a much better one. You can still eat the foods you love just in much smaller amounts which allows you to lose the weight. Everyone is different and not everyone can tollerate certain foods after the surgery but that is a choice you will have to make. I highly recommend it especially if you are having medical problems that seem to be getting worse! Good luck - hope this info. helps.

    Fill Costs

Everyone is different. I was self pay as well but my doctor offered free fills for the first year and the a second year free if you lose 1/2 your goal weight. $250 seems really high for a fill. Here in Houston most doctors charge $100 to $150 for a fill. I had my surgery on 1/26/07 and have had 2 fills so far and will go again in a couple of weeks. My first fill was no longer there when I went back in for another - so, I see where that could get really expense for you. Everyone is different when it comes to fills. My sister and her husband both had the surgery as well and she only had 4 fills and lost of all of weight and her husband has had several and not lost much at all. Good luck!

What is average weight loss before 1st fill?

My doctor gives free fills for first year and if you lose half you goal weight then another year free (Self Pay Patients). I think most dr.'s charge about $100 for a fill.

What is average weight loss before 1st fill?

I lost 20 lbs. the first 2 1/2 weeks or so and nothing since then. Had one fill last week and still have NO restriction and can eat anything. I am going again tomorrow for another fill - hopefully that will work. It is frustrating but I know in the long run it was worth getting the band and it just takes a while to find the right fill to get things going. Good luck all with your weight loss!

How Long After Surgery (1st Fill) ?

Depends on surgeon. I got mine 4 weeks out.
  19. KimFrmSealy

    1st fill

NJloser143, I would go and get another fill. Everyone is different and it takes some folks several fills before they find the restriction they need. I am having the same problem - I have only had one fill but no restriction at all. I am going back on Thursday for another fill. Good luck I am sure you will do great!

After the first fill, how much..

Alice, I think you should try another fill - especially if you can still eat that much. I can eat smaller amounts than before the surgery and be satisfied but I could certainly eat much more if I let myself. I have not had ANY problems with anything going down or coming back up. I can't wait until I get the fills right where I hit my sweet spot and can start dropping the weight. I am pleased with 20 Lbs in the first month but have not lost anything this past week . Good Luck with your weight loss journey!

    1st fill

When I called this morning they said I could come back next week??? Let me know what they tell you. I was a cash patient - not sure if that matters???

    1st fill

Had my first fill yesterday NO restriction at all! I called Dr. Spivak's office and scheduled another fill for next week. I can eat pretty much anything right now and that's not a good thing! KimFrmSealy 237/216/160 Banded 1/26/07 Dr. Spivak - Houston

After the first fill, how much..

Had my first fill yesterday and feel NO restriction at all. I called and scheduled another fill for next week. I can still eat pretty much whatever I want and that's not good!
  24. I was banded January 26th 2007 and doing well but was wondering how long after surgery is normal to wait to get a fill? I have an appointment tomorrow and a little nervous. I have lost 21 Lbs so far and really pleased with how things are going. I don't have any restriction right now and can eat pretty much what ever I want (BUT I DON'T)! Thanks and good luck to everyone! Kim 237/216/160 Banded 1/26/07 Dr. Spivak - Houston Tx
  25. Thanks for the replys. My doctor is Spivak as well. I am going to see him tomorrow morning for my first fill. Will be 4 weeks for me as well. I am excited and nervous. Wish me luck!
