I agreed with all that's being said but I found that there are a couple of dietitians at my drs office and the one I have SUCKS! So don't depend on that! Thank god for the good before education and my will NOT to fail! But I use Myfitness Pal and keep the calories to 1000cal and try to do 60-70 grams of protien, I find that it's all about will power, I'm pretty fresh to thus scene though, I was banded on April 10th and i have had two fills andI have lost 43lbs. Good luck.

I think it's the app itself and I ignore it! I'm suppose to take in 1000cal and excercise according to my lapband program so I use my fitness pal to keep a good diary but don't listen to its "suggestions"! Good luck!

I always learn the hard way too! This all a learning curve and as long as I learn I don't get too hard on myself! Good luck the journey has just begun! -
I take a daily fiber chew - I have NO problems - plus they taste like gummy bears so I feel like its a treat!

That's the idea.

Hi I also had BMI of 36, active ie gym goer with a very very active job - ER Nurse with gestional diabetes which turned to Type two and HTN that couldn't loose weight and since April I'm down 38 lbs and feel awesome - yes life style changes but only apparent if I share them and really necessary. But every journey is different - this is mine.

Every pre op diet is different but the diet I was on was similar and it's was specifically no dressing.

I get shoulder pain when I'm too full. So I make sure I weigh my food and portion it better.

Banded Yesterday - In Pain Today - Terrible Day Yesterday
bets70 replied to MemphisFan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My experience on the hospital was not as bad bit had none the less and I'm a nurse and work for the hospital I had the surgery at - my surgeon was and is awesome but the post op care was less the amazing! I woke up and felt like crap and she said ok let's get up - lets get drinking - my eyes were barely open! I ended up telling my father I could help myself more at home and asked him to take me home! The first three days were hell - I wondered what I did to myself and the third day is the worst - it gets better! By the fifth day I felt like myself, hang in there - it gets better and then the journey begins! Goof luck! -
I like the lean shake by GNC - I prefer the chocolate. I use the ready made for work - I also work in a ER so I drink it when I'm hungry during the shift and the powder is good and I mix it with different things in the am for a hearty breakfast shake. I have some PB which is a peanut butter powder or sugar free puddings and fruits to mix flavors that I like - its a daily experiment!

@cleescrugs - It can't hurt to call but I believe from all my reading - we are in "band hell" and it's going to take a little bit and a few fills to get us where we need to be.... And it sucks! I was banded on 4/10 could of had a fill four wks out but "your loosing so lets wait another four". Yikes! Cause I can eat too much I think for being banded and lately 1000 cals is more then a little hard - so hard that I'm tired of journaling and I found myself eating with my kids last night and not healthy choices! So bring on tuesday before I fall off the side of this cliff!

4 Weeks Post Op And Can Eat Everything...help!!!
bets70 replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm six wks or so out and use myfitnesspal to keep me honest with calories and protien but could - and could is the key - way whatever but I try and be really careful and think of this before folk time as a learning curve - I'm learning to take smaller bites and chew really well and get ready for the journey ahead. -
Halt - excellent!

Has Anyone Decided To Not Fill Their Band/?
bets70 replied to newme0617's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went on Tuesday - I was suppose to get a full but we talked about it and I was down 3.5lbs and I was staying around 1000 cals and though I get hungry its no where as bad as it use to be and decided against - I can call during the month if I feel like I can't wait until the beginning of June - that's my next appt., you get seen once a month times six months. -

N G Tube After Lap Band
bets70 replied to Rebecca Cain Salpacka's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a ER nurse and if a person has a band or a bypass we generally don't pass ng tubes unless it's a matter of life or death. As far as a medical bracelet - it couldnt hurt. NG tubes are generally used in the ER for gastric distension, gastric bleeds or bowel obstructions, they are however very small - could be compared to a straw. The garden hoses are for gastric lavage and well unless the over dose was witnessed and within in minutes of arrival we don't really practice that anymore. Hope this helps. -
Monday I could move onto mushies - I was banded 2 wks then - on the list was thinly sliced deli meat - so while making lunch for my daughter - I woofed a piece of ham - bad idea - stuck - got it free a little while later but now I still have a odd sensation - yesterday sore throat today odd sensation. I can drink and feel fine - no heartburn or pain - I think I'm just paranoid - I have backed up my diet and I'm being very careful - does this last long should I calm down? I saw my surgeon on Monday for follow up and she didn't seem bothered....help!

bets70 replied to REDsparkles11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
As a newly banded person I don't have much room to give advice but there are alot of people on my fitness pal - its free and there's a app for smart phones we keep each other honest and encourage each other - maybe logging you'd food and excercise would help. Best of luck! -
9 Days Post Op And Suddenly Covered In Hives- Soy?
bets70 replied to MadcapMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been drinking pure protein shakes and there's no soy. I prefer the chocolate to vanilla but will drink the vanilla. But your right sounds like your allergies! Sorry - hang in there! -
I was banded on 4/10 and I am on liquids but am allowed some mushies like refrozen beans, melted cheese and such. But I have been so so so hungry today - stomach growling, weak and well hungry - so at dinner I had turkey and carrots all ground up in the food processor - I mean what else do you do when your that hungry? It was less then a half of cup and frankly I'm not hungry anymore! I had protien shakes and yogurt today and LOTS of water but....any suggestions?

I had my band in Tuesday and today is the best day yet! I still have some left shoulder pain but slowly everything is getting better! The gas-ex isnt going to help much because it's for gas in your stomach and this is all over, keep at the walking....that does help with the gas and I find that the heating pad does too! Hang in there!
