  1. That's great Kimmy! Keeps you on track I'm sure. For me..I am more of a private kind of person! This particular person is a gossip so I felt the need to fudge the numbers around a bit! But my family and hubby know all my stats!

    How Is Everyone So Happy?

I would definitely ask them to change your meds. How many meds have you been on?? The reason I ask is because I suffered with clinical depression and had to try several different meds before I found what worked for me..you need to go back and talk to your care provider and if nothing changes after you have talked to your provider..find someone else! Please keep us updated..I will be thinking and praying for you!

    How Is Everyone So Happy?

Hi Kala, It sounds like you have clinical depression. Now I am not a qualified professional to make that diagnosis, but I really think you need to get some professional counseling and possibly some medication to help you because if you are catatonic..well that's not healthy either! Perhaps there were undying issues before your surgery that even you may not have known about or used food to cover up and now that is gone ..you wounds are exposed??? Again..I am not a professional..but I know if I felt this way and was 11 months out..I would be seeking professional physical and mental health services ASAP! Please let us know how you are doing if you decide to go to the doctor!

    How Is Everyone So Happy?

Honestly.. We won't ever be "normal" again. It does get better. I really enjoy EAS CarbAdvatage protein shakes. Have you tried those? 17g of protein for 2 net carbs. It isn't thick and goes down easily and is pretty tasty. The only flavor I don't tolerate in this brand is dark chocolate everything else is very good, convienent, and decently priced. I find them at my local Wal-mart in the pharmacy section. I also found them in an out of state Wal-mart when I went on vacation, so I feel probably, most Wal-Marts carry this product. Also, I was unable to choke down any baritric chewable garbage provided on the market which was a complete waste of my money. My dietitian recommended that I try Flintstones Complete chewables. It's been fine ever since. I take two per day and you will find that it is comparable or even better in the amount you get of nutrients when compared to regular vitamins..and I don't vomit these. The tiredness gets better. You are only 4 weeks out. Your body needs time to heal. It took me 8 weeks before I totally healed and pain free. I'm still not able to normal portions but I take my time and make sure I get in my EAS shakes. As far as heartburn goes.. I had GERD before surgery and I had it worse after I I take 20 mg of prescription Prevacid daily...this has helped a lot! Talk to your doctor about taking a acid reducer. This may help with the incessant feeling to vomit. It did me. If you need to chat, you are welcome to pm me. Good luck on your journey!

    Any Sleevers With Pcos?

I had PCoS as well..I had my hysterectomy before surgery and my hair in my chin is still there even after two laser treatments. I will have to have more laser treatments to remove it permanently. I think once it's there..it's there..or at least in my case..it's there..

    Mulitvitamins Make Me Sick!

I take two Flintstones Complete everyday. I couldn't tolerate that nasty bariatric chewable vitina at all, but the Flintstones are fine!
  14. I have lost ... The shelf that was attached to my back side...I still have a booty...but not a huge shelf... I found my chin again.. I lost my feet before my surgery..but low and behold...they are still there when I look straight down..I can see them again..and not just the toes ..the whole foot.. And I have lost what 8 1 gallon containers of fresh water would approximately weigh in 3 months...if you want to do the math..I'll leave that up to you! If you don't want to do the math..just PM me and I will tell you! This sleeve has been truly live giving to me...not only did it save me..it's given me my life back..an most definitely my control!

    What Cant You Eat Now?

I was a large popcorn with butter please kinda person. I am 3 months out and I eat popcorn without problems but instead of the large with butter and only want 3-5 pieces without the butter if any at all..and I loved popcorn! I just don't crave it like I used too..just a handful or less is satisfying for me!

    My First Emotional Breakdown

Please know it gets better! I was a large popcorn with butter eater...I am 3 months out now and honestly..sometimes just 3-5 pieces of popcorn is enough...sometimes I don't need any of it. I don't crave it at all like I did..although I do enjoy the smell of it when I go into the movies..but no cravings! I cried the first week and after that..the tears dried up! I think it's a combination of anesthesia and no sugar whatsoever and once that withdrawal is over..it gets better!!!
  17. I have found that I can't drink because it burns too bad. And I loved beer, cocktails, not so much wine unless it was Lambrusco..so I have given up alcohol all together just because I can't tolerate the burn.

    What Cant You Eat Now?

Ok so right after surgery ..I did soy milk with protein powdered because I became lactose intolerant right after surgery ..so be aware of the any doc said anything puréed and strained was fine as long as it was a protein and was thin..there is a recipe forum on here and their are some shake recipes there..so check them out..have you seen a nutritionist were you are going? She should have some great tips for you!

    What Cant You Eat Now?

Ok..I know I shouldn't have tried this ..but I did and immediately paid a horrible price. I took a bite of Chinese food..worse mistake of my life..I threw up there on the spot and anything that is fried..up it comes..so this is not horrible..it's actually a good thing because now..I eat extremely healthy because 1) it's better for me & 2)my sleeve said "oh hell no you did not just eat that..I'll show you!". It only takes one time and lesson learned for me..not mention ..I feel way better too!
  20. I have had such an improvement in my overall health that my primary care provider cried when she saw me because without her letter I wouldn't be here where I am today! So did I regret it..yes but only for the first 48 hours because I was so sick...but since being sleeved 4/3 and now I am down 61# ..nope I don't regret my decision. It gets better with time. Watching people around you eat that is. It use to bother me, but now I'm like " how can you eat so much?". So I hold my tongue and remind myself I am the one with the weight problem..not them!!! So no I don't regret what I did..yes it does get better..

    My Hair Is Falling Out

I agree with the protein recommendations although every center will give you different recommendations. Have you tried a protein shake? I really like EAS Carb Advantage shakes. My clinic recommends 50-60 grams of protein daily for women and men have a higher value. I have seen other members have higher daily required values for protein... I think it depends on your center's recommendation because the ADA has recommendations for RNY patients of minimum 80 grams per day but with that you are getting some malabsorption issues..and with the sleeve we shouldn't be having malabsorption issues so I feel that is the reason my center has what are congruent with dietary recommendations for Americans. If you can't eat, you need to be talking with your surgeon. If he/she isn't willing to help, find one who will!! Good luck!

    My Hair Is Falling Out

My surgeon recommended that I take Biotin. I have started a7,500 mcg pill 5 days a week and my hair loss has slowed significantly. I also make sure I get 50-60 if not a little more Protein every day. You could take a 2,000-5,000 mcg pill every day as well in addition to your Calcium and Vitamins. I hope this helps! Ask your RD about it!
  23. Congrats on reversing your diabetes. My surgeon felt my pre-diabetes dx would reverse. My hemoglobin A1C was 6.3 and my doc was playing around with the idea of starting me on metformin. But since having the surgery and dropping 60# since April 3rd, my A1C is 5.5 which is normal and I thank God everyday that I was approved to get it done. It truly is life saving! Congrats again!
  24. So why do family want to compete with my weight loss?? Ok you can't...get over it! My MIL and I have a "history"...I won't go into it here. But as soon a we let her know about my sleeve..she immediately starting dieting...and has been "competing" with me since April. She isn't a small person either..she is morbidly obese as well. Anyway..she lost a pound and I of course lost way more because of the surgery. So she announces she is going to look into the surgery ..she is 74. Why?? Isn't there an age limit? Why compete with someone who has had weight loss surgery?? You aren't going to "win"..if you can even win such a thing?? And then...she used my as an example against her oldest, obese son. She asked him if he ever considered my procedure and he promptly told her the many, many reasons as to why he would never, ever choose the route I am on. And I calmly states to the mil that weight loss surgery is a private, personal journey that each individual must take order to live this lifestyle..it isn't the easy road.. I felt so bad for him. He didn't ask to be treated in such a manner..hell it could be against his religious beliefs for all I know! And I felt used.. Anyway..I am climbing down off the soap box..that felt good to get off my chest! MIL will never change..she will find a fault with everyone except looking in the mirror and seeing the truth!
