Piplula replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved April 3rd and I am down 75#! -
So does anyone else have gum problems? My mouth was very healthy prior to surgery ..gums and teeth etc. My gums now are tender..even when I brush Sometimes I have an ulcer occasionally..I following the prescribed diet and brush twice a day..just wondered if this is a side effect similar to my vision changes that have now returned to normal. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Now..last week I did drink my water with a splash of cranberry juice..but it never did that before ..weird

I regretted the decision 48 hours out from the surgery because of the hellish nausea I was not prepared to endure. (yes..i was told nausea could be slight to moderate)..I even had hyperemesis gravidarum during my pregnancy with my daughter..so I am no stranger to nausea with eye popping vomitting) Nothing..and I mean nothing seemed to settle the nausea..I had a scopolamine patch, and phenergan and Zofran giving every two hours alternatively. Some nurse shoved an alcohol pad up my nose thinking it would help and completely choked me. I literally told my husband that I couldn't live with the intense nausea I was experiencing and wanted the dear Lord to take me home if it didn't subside. BUT at the 72 hour marker ..it got better..and better every day. Now..the only time nausea hits me is if I try a food I know probably won't suit ..and honestly..I dislike the nausea so I stay away from foods that I know I don't tolerate. Anyway..I don't regret my decision now..down 75# since April 3rd. Life is way better!

I didn't know until you spoke..you look great!!!!". So..that just made my day..lol!

In addition that I didn't mention..their vitamins , in my humble opinion, are garbage. They taste nasty both multivitamins and calcium. Don't waste your time or money! -

Ok..well here's the deal with diet..it's different in every doc's office you go. Some do pre-op liquid diet before surgery ..I wasn't required to do that..I started full liquid diet at 1 week..mushies at 2-4 weeks then real foods at 1month..some people are recommended to start solids later..since you are farther out..try to shoot for 50-60grams of protein per day..others will tell you more for weight loss ..my doc recommended this range..it's working for me. I was told no sugary, carbonated beverages..anything sugar free that is not carbonated is fine. I prefer water and unsweetened tea..I drank this before surgery. I would recommend protein shakes to boost your protein intake...I like EAS Carb Advantage shakes..they are 17grams with 2.5 g net carbs. Always eat your protein first..then veg or fruits..then if you have room..have some carbs if you have room...I would see if you can make an appt with a nutritionist that deals with sleeve patients. You can pay out of pocket for the service..and she/he can help you. Check with your local hospital that does weight loss surgeries. Good luck to you!

Hey guitar819, Injury is a whey Protein powder. You can add it to any liquid that you think it would taste good with. My favorite flavors are vanilla and chocolate splendor. It also comes in strawberry, chocolate, unflavored, & chicken soup. It's 20 grams of protein per scoop. I also enjoy EAS Carb Advantage shakes which come in chocolate, rich dark chocolate(I dislike this one), vanilla and strawberry..and are tasty and convenient! You can purchase Unjury from their website: www.unjury.com..they also have a sample pack to can purchase to see which flavors you will like..I would highly recommend doing that first. If you wan to try the EAS it is easily found at Walmart, Target,& at our local Kroger. Hope this helped! -

Fat Clothes Sure Take A Beating!
Piplula replied to chitowngirl's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Chitowngirl..you must be my sister from another mister! I did the exact same thing!!!! It's a wonderful feeling to be able to purchase clothes that fit. I am enjoying just going to regular stores and shop..how cool will it be when I can shop in the regular section instead of plus size!
