I Did It. Ran My First 5K.

Congrats! I just completed my day 1 week 1 on Ease into 5K app. You inspire me to continue..I'll get there too!
  2. Thanks...I have faced quite a bit, but the healthier I become the more I realize it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Everyone has their own demons to face. I just happened to have mine cut out! Realize people will naturally oppose things or concepts they don't understand. Even with education, some people will still oppose an idea. My coworkers were concerned, but they now see how well I am doing...and believe in the process (it helps I am in the medical field). My family was scared, but realized and know me well enough to know that once my mind is made up..well come along for the ride or get out of the car! I feel I am a success and will continue to succeed. With that outlook, no one can rain on my parade!
  3. Oh I have a temper and perhaps if the student wasn't in front of me, I may have ripped her two or three new ones, but we must be professional in front of students! Besides ...I had a class to teach...like someone else mentioned..it's hard to fix stupid..LOL.

    Straws And The Like...

And btw.. I never get too much air from using a straw. In fact, I asked my nutritionist what was the scientific basis for not using a straw..and she said there was no scientific evidence or studies done on the use of straws and having the sleeve done. It's just a suggestion. Some people gulp air with straws, some don't. I don't, so I use them.
  5. You have no idea just how hard that really was!
  6. Wow..thanks! I never thought of it like that! You made my day!

    Straws And The Like...

I have not had a problem with extra gas. Everything was normal for me. As far as fluids, that really isn't that much if you think about it.
  8. I have officially reached the century club! I plan on posting pictures at my 6 month surgery anniversary which will be October 3rd. If anyone is contemplating surgery or getting ready to have this surgery, I would say do it. Yes, it is hard. Yes, you must commit to the whole process. Yes, there are always setbacks, but isn't that what life is about? It is these experiences that make us stronger as individuals. Did I have complications ? Yes while my team felt it was minor ( a small hematoma), it hurt like hell for 2 months, but I prevailed. What has change for me? I no longer have prediabetes or high blood pressure. Alas, I have high cholesterol still, but mine is a genetic condition having 2 of 3 genetic markers for heart disease. As an aside note, the Boston Heart Lab checks for this if you are interested in your own makeup. So as for the cholesterol, well..some cards you are dealt you can't change, but you can manage them more easily with this surgery...exercise, diet, and medication. The nice part is that I have freedom. I can do things now without thinking. For example, table or booth? Who cares, I fit in both! Daughter has a function at school in the auditorium? No problem...sit where you like...you'll fit. Amusement park you say? Sure...I love to ride! Oh no...can I fit? You betcha I can! Plane ride? I have myself covered...no extra fees or seat belt extender for me! Anyway...I am on my way. My journey is only at my half way point. I still have a long road ahead, but I will only go forward, one foot in front of the other until I reach my destination. Until then, I have you all as company. Thank you for your support. You all will never know how much it is greatly appreciated and definitely part if my continued success! Each and every one of the people who respond to my posts, I thank you...positive or negative..I know that I have a band of sleeve family out there to support or give me a dose of reality...see it really is like a family..good and bad. I feel like a caterpillar in my cocoon not ready to emerge yet, just still transforming into a butterfly. One day, I will emerge and be as beautiful on the outside as I feel on the inside!
  9. Tell her her prayers for healing, comfort, and happy thoughts are on the way! Congrats in the surgery! I'll dust her off a seat on the loser's bench!

    My "wings" Are Gone!

Looked at the picture enlarged..yep..that's a people of Wal-Mart picture. I am beginning to think people dress nutty on purpose to get their 15 seconds of fame on that site.

Not Losing Any Weight! Upset And Fustrated!

That's pretty awesome! I only lost 26# my first month. I am 5 1/2 months out and down 99#. It will come! Remember...it didn't take over night or even 1 month to put on weight...it will take some time. It sounds as if you are doing the things you need to do. Keep up the great work!
