    Frustrated!

Your thread is so bitter sweet. I know what you mean about for the first time ever WANTING to run (without someone chasing you with a weapon)! I started the C25K and will be starrting week 3 tomorrow. I'm sorry you ran into this snag! I'm sure with the right medical interventions you'll be up and running in no time!!

Why Does The Elliptical Kick My Butt?

Emily, what week are you on with the C25K? I start week 3 tomorrow. 3 consecutive minutes-yikes!! LOL!
  5. True and very funny!
  6. Hmmm. I've not heard of this, either. Kind of a cool idea if it keeps your food in a little longer for a feeling of being full longer. Curious to see what others have to say about this!
  7. Just passed the 1/2 way mark - 42 down and 41 to go!

    July 4Th Challenge

I found it jhansen, thanks! I'm in! I'm currently at 178. I hope to lose at a rate of about 2 pounds per week so I'll shoot for a 10 pound weight loss. GOAL WEIGHT 168 I'm right on track. 2pound loss puts me at 176. 8 more to go!
  10. OH! That was SO VERY VERY VERY BAD!. I had had a rough night of nausea anyway, but then a major break through and I felt great! Took a sponge bath, did my walking and could hold a nice conversation with a smile on my face (can't do that stuff when I'm on the edge of yakking non-stop). Then they came for me and my leak test. Knew it would taste bad, but was looking forward to ICE CHIPS!! Couldn't have anything for the past 12 hours, at that point. OH, it was so much worse than I thought it would be and I ended up throwing it up, right then and there! Thank goodness for a quick nurse and baggie!! I think I'd die if I had to do that again! Laughing my butt off thinking back to that, now. It was almost 9 weeks ago and seems like I'm a lifetime away from that!! Cheers!
  11. At 8 days post I was eating the seasoning packets from Ramon Noodle soup, and Protein drinks. I tried to strain a chicken noodle soup and it hit my intestinal track hard! So I backed off to more of the bouillon-world. SF Jello saved me! :-D Good luck!
  12. Soon will be on my way NORTH for the holiday weekend and festivities in Mackinaw City, Michigan! The countdown it ON!

    Sleeving And Alcohol

Congrats on 2 years sober!! I am certainly no expert, but most people seem to find relief, at least to an extent, for their constant hunger. I was a food addict and I think the very long (8weeks) of not having any food that wasn't liquid or pureed has helped me break the head hunger. It is very common that people will transfer their food addiction, though. Similarly the way that you shifted from alcohol to food. You may want to prepare in advance with a support group - like this one!! And meeting group or therapist to support you through this. My sister went through wls and became addicting to shopping - a very expensive habit!! She has joined a support group and is back on track. Some transfer their addiction to exercise - as long as you don't become obsessive/compulsive with it, that could be a good transfer!! Welcome and best of luck!!

    Water Intake.

ForMyFamily - I'm the same way. I used to say I was a water-aholic. All post-op results are different for people, but for me it actually changed the way that Water TASTES. Seriously. It's like it leave an aftertaste and it doesn't matter if it is tap, filtered, purchased, etc. Water tastes funny so I don't reach for it like I used to. I'm now one of those people that has to remind myself to drink water. Also the sheer quantity. I was such water guzzler. I could just tip up a bottle and down 16-20ounces. Now I have to sip and I hate it. It's the only think that causes me pain (very short-lived). I really don't think it's like this for everyone - this is just my experience and probably the only thing I really miss

    Question

Maybe caused by acid reflux? Are you on an antacid like Nexium or anything?
  20. I have one of the most restrictive and slowest phase growing plans of, I think, about anyone I've come across on this forum.... I'm at 8 weeks post (OK on TUESDAY I will be), but FINALLY get to add in fish, eggs, cheese and Beans. Oh Good Lord it's been a haul. I had salmon (all of about 1/4 cup) and it was wonderful!! Also had some chili. YUMMM! I know a lot of others have been eating this stuff since like week 2, but I vowed to follow my surgeon's orders and I made it! To be honest I think it helped to break a lot of my head hunger in the past 2 months....Hmmmm...maybe that's the method to their madness. Anyway, just wanted to share that I made it!!

    Too Thin...ha?!

My starting weight was 218 and I'm down to about 179-ish. Almost 40 pounds in 8 weeks. I wouldn't consider that slow - but you will (as everyone does) go through stalls. I had one at week 3 then again week 7 (I'm just now coming out of it). Eat right and move and the weight will come off. Best of luck to you and I bet your husband comes around. Tell him to come to support group meetings and post nutrition classes with you. Bring him into the fold and educate him. He'll come around.

    Water Retention

I just had the same thing happen to me this past Friday and Saturday and I'm 8 weeks post op! I'm getting my fluids in too. I was so bummed because swollen ankles and calves was a real pain for me pre surgery and when all that edema went down that first week I spent a good portion of my time just staring at me feet and ankles! I hope this is just a short phase!
  23. Started COUCH TO 5K tonight. Can't believe I didn't die from it. Tried it once, pre-surgery and thought it would be the death of me; it was almost easy tonight :-D
