8 Days Out....doing Great
NancyJerry replied to Sleeve & Lean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great job! Keep up the good work!! -
I have the same surgery date and I'm down 3-4 pounds more than that. I think we're doing GREAT! I don't remember any diet I've ever followed that's has resulted in this kind of weight loss, and I still feel great!

I had protein shakes from the day I got home too.

It's easy to get married. It's hard to stay married. I see that you have a lot of support her and through your health professionals; but I'd like to add my 2-cents. Please check out this link....http://www.jayandlaura.com/ Really look at their WebSite and even like them on FaceBook. I know these people personally and they have a passion for MARRIAGE. If you can arrange it, Jay and Laura do a "Destination Event" on Mackinaw Island (Michigan) and it's 2 days of reconnecting with your spouse. They are bringing in an AMAZING guest speaker from Texas. They also travel all over the US, and even into Canada, for their "Ultimate Date Night" Seminars. I pray you get the health, help and guidance to do what is best for you. In the meantime, I highly recommend getting a dog. Spend time training the little guy (get a smart one, like a golden retriever) and certify him/her to do therapy work. I did this when it became impossible for me to have children and I didn't know how to feel "fulfilled." The time I spend with my Charlie bringing happiness to others that are in nursing homes, hospitals, schools and libraries is very fulfilling! Good luck to you!

Help...same Food Every Day For A Week
NancyJerry replied to tmorgan813's topic in Food and Nutrition
Greek Yogurt, Cottage Cheese and Cottage cheese doubles (with like a tablespoon of fruit), tomato soup or other strained soups. To be honest, being sad (then comes bored) with food helps with breaking (for me) the strong connection between needing to eat and wanting to eat. I spent a good portion of my life living to eat and not just eating to live. Know what I mean? I understand, though. I've recently been dreaming about MEAT. Pork steak in particular! LOL Good luck!! -
Spouses During The Hospital Stay
NancyJerry replied to feszyk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband was there during the surgery until dinner that night. I don't remember much of that since I was slow to come out of anesthesia and I was so nauseous that the anti-nausea meds knocked me out. He came back the next afternoon, but unfortunately just after I'd gotten another dose of anti-nausea meds so when I fell asleep he went home again. Really, I barely remember him until day three when he was with me the whole day walking and talking. Its tough to pre-plan what or who you will need and when. -

When Did You Start Intense Workout After Surgery
NancyJerry replied to Jennyg1987fw's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I was cleared to do "whatever my body will allow" after my post op visit (day 8). My only limitations were to not lift more than 15-20 pounds for a couple of more weeks. I went for my first bike ride on day 8! I did find that my muscles were CRAZY FATIGUED!!. That I was not expecting. Now on week 4, I'm still biking, but still working at increasing my endurance and stamina. -

Good to know! Will look it up! -
What you can eat will depend on where you go. If you go out to dinner and there is either a buffet or menu, you can order Cottage cheese, Applesauce, Soup (eat around the chunks), hot tea/coffee. Some people here, during the mushy phase get to eat white fish, maybe that is an option for you? So glad you'll get to show off the "new you" to the old hubbies. I can't even tell you (this is going to sound like I'm 15 again), but I was only about a week past surgery so very near my highest weight, no make up, very, very comfy clothes and ran into an old boyfriend's mother. Why this could/would bother me, who knows. I haven't seen her (or him) in 18 years, but I cannot lie, it would have been nice if I had looked better. I KNOW her and that she told him she saw me. But it would have been great if she could have seen a skinny me! LOL. I mean really!! Who cares????? I'm happily married, but something about the old flames thinking about what they don't have.....:-) Have fun on your trip and congrats to your daughter!!

Trouble Swallowing - 6 Days Post-Op
NancyJerry replied to Sleeve & Lean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup to all the above...Swelling, Walking, Healing. You're right on track!! @Tmorgan - I LOVE your wedding dress!! :-DD -
I've seen lots of posts where people have driven themselves home! I think I'm on the FAR END of the continuum of doctors playing it safe, I couldn't drive until after my first post-op appointment (8 days post surgery). I'm sure others will have stories of driving much, much sooner than that! ;-D

How Long After Surgery Were You Sore?
NancyJerry replied to randalljohn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was bike riding by day 8. But I would have to say I had periodic moments of discomfort depending on the day and my activities. My belly went through a week straight of ITCHING as my incisions were healing!!! I'm 4 weeks out now and have next to no pain. -

LOL, Aviiva! I don't see a request from you. I'm going to try to send you a request, assuming your mfp name is Aviiva, too? Let me know if it is different! -
Make sure you get in your water and vitamins. That should help too. The sugar will probably do more to hurt your gut (diarrhea) than your sleeve!

You just have to do the math by percentages. If you ate 3 tablespoons of a cup then you'd enter (it's approximate) .2 as your serving size. A close estimate is really all you need to give you a good picture. If you want, you can add me as a friend. My Pal ID is njerry
