I Rarely Get On The Scale; Clothes Falling Off
NancyJerry replied to Jesusislove's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Good for you Cali. I've gone from 18's fitting tightly to 14's fitting loosely. I can't wait to be in a 12! -
Ouch! Note to self, right? LOL I read about this a lot!

I know what you mean, DD. The "truth" is I'm losing weight because I eat very little and exercising more. But I couldn't eat so little if it hadn't been for my sleeve. So it's tough sometimes. Good luck to you and your sister!

That's great, Tracey! Keep up the great work!!

OH YEAH! The Water is a biggie. I do better when I get that in! Thanks Lissa!

I find that I get muscle fatigue rather quickly. For me, I think it's a combination of low Iron and too few calories. I push myself in spite of the fatigue and I've found that has helped me raise the bar of what I can make myself do. But I get what you are saying!

I Can Drink A Lot More Than 4 Oz.
NancyJerry replied to pinkiguana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're what? Almost 2 weeks post op? I think you're just fine. We can fit a whole lot more liquid in us as Rod's wife and Mr. Worm mentioned. My protein shakes are 11 ounces and while it would take me 30 minutes or so (at 2 weeks) it was no trouble getting it down. -
Um....YUMMY sounding! Thanks!

I used to be a HUGE water chugger. It was no big deal for me to tip up a bottle and slam 16 ozs or more. The surgery has taken care of that for me. If I take too big of a drink, I feel it! Nothing really terrible, just enough discomfort to remind me to slow down.

Cardiologist Appt. Tomorrow, Is It Safe To Assume
NancyJerry replied to ChristineS NY's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a lucky one too; no stress test was ordered for me. Although, I have to laugh, the cardiologist was SO VERY HANDSOME that I thought my heart was going to leap out of my chest. I kept thinking he was going to get such awful readings, they'd have to admit me - LOL! Seriously, I don't usually get that way, but he was SO VERY HANDSOME. My goodness!! Good luck! -
Cocktails And Alcohol
NancyJerry replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know. I haven't had a specific time set to when I can have alcohol, but I'm about 6 weeks out and don't think I would try it yet. But then again, I'm a chicken LOL! -

Talk To Me About Medicines
NancyJerry replied to StrangelyNormal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no problem with tablet form. In fact, because the liquid pain meds made me so sick to my stomach, I started on tablets before I left the hospital. Small sips of water work - but it is a pain to allocate the time to take a sip and a pill, wait and repeat. It's also difficult for me to remember to spread taking pills out throughout the day. I'm lucky that I was never on a ton of the to begin with since I have enough trouble with the vitamins! Good luck!! -

Wendys Chili Went Down Well
NancyJerry replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think, on this forum, you'll find opinions vary greatly, but I was told by my surgeon that it will take 8-12 weeks for the stomach to heal. He told me that he has seen many patients make the mistake of eating too early, because their impression is, "if it didn't make me hurt or get sick, it must be ok." But there is so much healing going on that you can't feel. He told me I can't follow that philosophy until about week 10 (4 more weeks-grrrr). Just me spouting the 2 cents that I was told (I'm not trying to judge or preach to anyone! -
Good to know. I'm on such a restricted diet (still at 6 weeks and will be for another 4-6 weeks) that I just keep imagining that when I actually get real food I'm gonna yak! Thanks!!
-
Good. You've got to "stay behind the pain." Take them on a regular basis and keep them in your system. I hope you get relief from your pain very soon!!

Wendys Chili Went Down Well
NancyJerry replied to Anewlifeforme23's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even if you don't get a leak, there is a ton of internal healing that has to take place. Small bits of food can get trapped along your staple line and cause an abscess or infection. Take care!! -
Ugh! I'm not looking forward to my first time - which I'm sure will happen!
