May 15Th...anyone Else?
MG in SD replied to beautifulnewme2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
May 14 th for me. Down 33 lbs total, 12 of which were from the pre- op diet. Went back to work this week and I am working out or walking 30-45 min every day. Got a long way to go, started at 320 and presently at 287, but I'm feeling a lil better everyday. -

My surgeon said to expect a stall 3 or 4 th week, because you lose some muscle the first few weeks bc of the full liquid diet. He said once you start adding protein in ur foods and shakes, you gain some of that muscle back so you hit a stall. He said no fear, and to expect loss again the week after. So keep ur head up!

5 Days Post Op, When Can I Start Working Out & What Should I Do?
MG in SD replied to NJsharon's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I am 12 days post op. I walked 3 times a day for the first 10 days. Each day a little longer and faster. I was cleared on day 9 to hit the gym (no weights yet) so yesterday and today I did just that. I got in 30 min cardio before I started feeling light headed. I did 10 min stationary bike, 15 min walking with incline, and 5 min elliptical. Felt great, but it wipes me out bc I'm still on liquids. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using VST -

The Nastiest Stuff I Have Ever Put In My Mouth
MG in SD replied to Candyman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, never had to do one. My surgeon said he did the test during surgery. -
I was sleeved 10 days ago and I just went to the gym in my condo complex!!! I walk by it everyday on my thrice daily walks, and today I decided WTH, I'm going in there. I didn't know if I would have the strength to do much but I did 25 min cardio. I was headed for the elliptical and realized I was dizzy, so instead I chilled out and then headed home. It felt good and I am so happy to be active this early after surgery. More good things to come! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Epilepsy Medication (Depakote) And Vsg
MG in SD replied to MG in SD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I just got sleeved and this was my biggest concern. So on the day of the surgery they gave me a liquid dose of my depakote, but it wasn't an equivalent dose. That first night in the hospital I kinda freaked out on my nurse bc the does wasn't equivalent. Long story short, after calling my surgeons main nurse they gave me my regular pill with a sip of water. It went down fine. And it's not a small pill, it's coated and oval shaped. I'm almost 2 weeks out and have not had any problems. You will b fine -
Oops, hit send on accident. Anyway, I lost 12 lbs over the pre- op diet. But holy crap, almost 30 lbs already!! Got my stitches out today and feeling great. Sent from my iPhone using VST

May 15Th...anyone Else?

I just didn't care about posting right after the surgery. I was so drugged up anyway! I kept falling asleep like a narcoleptic! I don't know how some of these people post right after surgery. Big ups to them for being troopers! Lol Sent from my iPhone using VST -
May 15Th...anyone Else?
MG in SD replied to beautifulnewme2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my surgery Monday and was released home Tuesday. First couple of days sucked, but I followed directions, walked a lot & took my pain meds. It's been 5/6 days and I'm feeling pretty good. I'm sipping liquids all day but have got them all in. The gas & indegestion are bearable and the surgery wounds are super small, I have 5 in total. I'm going to drive to my friends house tomorrow to watch Game of Thrones, I have to get out of my house! But doing great! Down 20 lbs including the pre op diet. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
I was sleeved on Monday and on day 6 I'm doing pretty good. Yeah slow sips, frequent walks, and rest. Surgery day and the day after sucked for me too. Sent from my iPhone using VST

Protein is supposed to help, but it's a crap shoot. I did Optifast through kaiser in 2007 and lost over 100 lbs and 5 months in i started losing a ton of hair. It sucked bad. No one else could really tell but it was obvious to me and when it started growing back in I had short hairs shooting straight up all over my head. Apparently your body reacts to the weight and nutrient loss by redirecting other protein sources like hair & nails to more vital organs. Or so they say. It will come back tho. Thx guys. Emailed my NUT and she said start with 1/4-1/2 cup of full liquids and see what I can tolerate. I think everybody's advice would have been fine. I'm just still in week one so I am obsessing over everything!! Sent from my iPhone using VST

Hi guys. I got sleeved Monday and am supposed to progress to full liquids today. I know the goal of the clear liquid diet was to get in 64 oz of liquid, but my guidelines say nothing about how much full liquid I can tolerate. For example: yogurt or creamed wheat, how much can I tolerate? Anyone know? Sent from my iPhone using VST

Any May Sleevers Here?
MG in SD replied to chicagochic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I guess all doctors have different diet requirements. I was allowed to add full liquids at day 4, protein drinks at day 7. I'm excited about full liquids but worried it won't go down. Even propel is tough sometimes! Sent from my iPhone using VST -

How Are Those Of You That Are Post-Sleeve?
MG in SD replied to NJsharon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Had my surgery Monday too. Doing pretty good, I walk every hour and am getting in all my liquids. I am a bit fatigued, have intermittent gas and stomach pains, and my stomach muscles are definitely sore. But if those are my major problems, that's not much to complain about! I'm still taking it easy week one though. Besides my hourly walk abouts i am resting the majority of the time. Looking forward to being more active next week. Sent from my iPhone using VST -
Any May Sleevers Here?
MG in SD replied to chicagochic's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi guys. I was sleeved Monday morning at 10 am, and discharged from the hospital the next day at noon. I'm doing well. Walking every hour or so, got in all my liquids yesterday. I will say this much, day one sucks, especially if you've never had major surgery like me. Pain, nausea, no stomach muscle strength ( and u use those to laugh, cough, sit up, lay down!!!). But it does get better every day so keep your eye on the prize! Today I get to add in full liquids like yogurt and creamed soups. I don't know how much I'll b able to get down but I've been on just water and propel so far so I'm excited for change. Good luck to everyone! Sent from my iPhone using VST -
