    May Sleevers...

I started my 2 week per-op diet at 320, surgery day was 5/14/12 and I was 307, down to 269. 51 lbs and counting!
  4. I had the sleeve because it was less complicated than the bypass and less risk. There are also less restrictions on types of foods you can eat when healed because we don't have to worry about dumping syndrome which sounded nasty to me!! I have been totally happy and successful thus far, but to each his own. Good luck with whatever you choose!

    San Diego, California Anyone?

Awesome! Dr mueller did a great job and the nurses at sharp are great. I'm down 50 now and 2 months out. Feel free to send me a personal message if u have questions. Good luck!!
  7. I work at a college and I was very open with my co-workers and bosses and they have all been super supportive. Some people had questions, but when I tell them the surgery is a tool to help because I haven't been able to keep the weight off on my own, they ultimately understand. I explained that it is about heath, not vanity (or at least not all about vanity ) and they get that too. But, I am a very straightforward person and I don't know any other approach, and I do understand that everyone is not comfotrable with that. Now when I come to work I have a ton of supporters, who are constantally cheering me on and encouraging me. Feels good.

    Fruit

I am 2 months out and have been able to eat several types of fruit, but I avoid the peels. Mango, watermelon, canteloupe, strawberries, bleberries, raspberries, bananas. Yum-O!!

    Got My Surgery Date!

Good luck! It has been nothing but positive for me. I am two months out and down about 50 lbs! You are going to be full of questions for the next few weeks, but before you know it you will be on the loser's bench. I did the Bariatric Advantage high protein meal replacement drinks for my 2 week pre-op diet. Whatever you drink you just have to remember that you will get through it, and the whole goal of the diet is to shrink your liver so you will have a safer surgery. That was all I though about and cheating was not just not an option. Good luck again!!

    Hospital Stay?

I only had to stay one night and was released the next day by noon. Walk as much as you can around the hospital. They had me up and walking around within an hour of surgery. I walked a loop around my floor every hour, even through the night. It helps absorb the surgical gasses and it honestly makes you feel better. You have to walk around with your ass hanging out of the surgical gown and your IV pole in tote, but who cares? You definitely won't care about appearances!! Good luck!

Fellas... Keep It Real With Me!

I was peeking into the man's room! I am sure you will get more attention, I always do when I lose weight. But I don't think you need to overthink what your friend was saying either, I think she was just trying to be positive. I have noticed that people always want to try to say something encouraging even when they have nothing to say. And I think you will deserve more attention once you have lost a bit, it shows that besides having a winning personality, you take care of yourself. And that is sexy too!
  16. Yeah, relax. It's done & there is no going back now anyway. My first waking thought in the recovery room after surgery was "what did I just do?!" First week sucks, second is better, and it gets better every day after that. I am 6 weeks out and I feel like a normal human agian, maybe a human who eats like a bird, but normal nonetheless. You will get through.

    May 15Th...anyone Else?

Had my surgery 5/14. Feeling good now. Lost 40 lbs total, 12 during pre- op diet. I may have finally hit a stall because I haven't lost anything in close to a week. I am hoping it's because I haven't been able to work out since Monday because I smashed my shin and ankle up bike riding on Monday . Didn't break anything, thank god, but that's the risk when you start getting more active!!

  19. One of my incisions got infected 2 weeks out. Long ( gross) story short, after antibiotics it drained and it was left exactly like yours. Even the measurements sound the same. it healed from the inside out once I started letting air get to it so it could scab. I would cut a regular size band aid in half lengthwise and put it crossing the wound so there was an open gap on either side for air. It healed up and it's not indented or anything. You will probably be fine. Sent from my iPhone using VST
  20. I guys. Im four weeks out and i am doing 25-45 minutes of cardio daily. I'm allowed to add weight training 6-8 weeks out, but it's not mentioned anywhere when I can start working out my abs. When did you start?? What did your surgeons say? Sent from my iPhone using VST

When Did You Start Working Your Core?

That sounds like great advice, thanks
  22. My Dr. signed me off for 3 weeks. I probabally could have gone back after two, but appreciated the three. When I came back I was on soft foods and had no problems wityh mobility, so I think 3 is best.

    So Tired

I am 4 weeks out and lost the same amount. I was super lethargic first two weeks, but I gradually started adding in cardio and now I feel almost 100% and I workout everyday. I started with 10 minutes stationary bike and 10 minutes treadmill with incline and everyday I added a little more and now I am up to 45 min of cardio daily. I always eat protien first and drink my 2 protien shakes daily. I know everyone is different, but it will come around, just keep moving.

    Struggling Postop

Yeah Chocolate Premier premixed drinks at Costco are the bomb. Plus they have 30 grams of protien per shake.
  25. Everyone is different. I lost 25 lbs in the first month. I am 4 weeks out and doing great. But I workout every day and my calorie consumption is between 500-750 daily. I made a huge commitment when I decided to go under the knife, and I intend to follow the rules. I think if you want to lose all your weight, you can and will.
