Way to go Sugarbear! With restriction comes the behavior modification part. The tightness really has helped me. Though, today I've eaten very poorly. Rice Krispie Treats are BAD things! Luckily, I'm scheduled for a fill on Monday. For some reason, I've lost a little weight despite eating a little more than usual...weird. I feel like I need a fill, but I'm hesitant to take a whole or half a fill since the half fill still tightened me up badly in August. I need something because I getting hungry. I'll let the docs decide and if it's too tight, I'll just get it taken out rather than suffer as much as last time. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! REIN IN THOSE GOBBLERS!

I hope y'all will disreguard all the typos...sorry.

Capt. - My lap-band doc suggested a weight that was nearly 50lbs more than the BMI chart told me. He put me on some kind of maching that measured all my stuff (muscle, bone, blood, fat, tissue, fluid) and it spat out this long reciept like paper with the report that told me what it measure and what I should weigh to be healthy. I near fell over when it said I what I should weigh to have a 25 BMI! I questioned the nurse about it and she said "Honey, you haven't been lieing all these years, you really ARE big boned...and muscled too." I think I may go under the suggested weight (212) just to say I weigh under 200lbs for once in my adult life. I would say, do what you feel comfortable with. If they didn't put you on one of those machines, maybe ask if they could? That may give you more insight.

I confess...I have a nut problem too. I'm glad I don't have to be around them all the time though! Maybe you can designate someone the nut-police on the boat for you? I know it's annoying, but my hubby polices stuff like that for me. Also, if you were self-pay...are those nuts really worth $15000? Hope that might help?

Steph - I've had a LOT of negative run-ins with docs over my weight. I've learned that when I have to go to a new one, I mention my weight pu front...as in: "I know I'm severly overweight, and I know all the risks associated with it. I am working on it and that's all I know to do, is my best." I've found that it has helped my relationships with the past 4 doctors I've had. I also made a resolution to ax any docotor that is rude or hounding about my weight. I refuse for them to be rude to me about something I'm doing my best to remedy! I'm paying them, therefore they should treat me with respect. I also don't have a problem letting them know they need to work on their bedside manner if they get damning on me!

I think you could be describing esophogial spasms too or being too tight. Get them to check it out. Are you sliming and getting stuck even though you follow the rules?

The refridgeration thing is lovely when you have company, especailly parents over! I keep it in the butter compartment so noone will have to ask about it.

Smiletracy - We've all been there. I know it was hell trying to make this decision, plus it was complicated with fear. Try to research as much as you can so you know what to expect. Also, try to meet as many folks as you can in person who've had it. That helped me a lot. Good Luck!

I've used Nuva Ring for the past 3 years because pills make me crazy because of the hormones! Nuvaring is low hormone and I love it. You can download a program (Nuvatime) from their website that will send you a reminder of when to take it out and put it in. I'm not having any trouble with it so far. It does take some practice to insert it, but it's not bad. I'm losing weight fast, so I guess it doesn't effect me like that.

I went to get checked out by Dr. K yesterday due to being more sick than usal. I'm okay, but I did ask her what I need to be concerned about slippage-wise and erosion-wise. She said that to be very concerned and come in if all of a sudden you have pain, vomiting that doesn't go away in a 24 hour time frame, reflux at night, or pain that radiated into your back. Arkie, I would get in to see them just as a precaution. I've just been kind of sick on Monday and Tuesday with sharp pain. It's a lot better than it was after the 1st fill and took me by suprise. I called on Wednesday..of course I felt a lot better right after I called and fine yesterday...and we just chalked it up to maybe being too tight. If I'm sick more than once a week, then I need to call them.

I just wanted to wish you guys some encouragement. Keep hanging in there. Lindata - I have a 3 year old too, and had two or three new mommies picked out before surgery...just in case...I know where you're coming from. 1007-I was very tired too the first few weeks and found that if I increased my protein intake I felt MUCH better overnight. I couldn't hold much of anything so I tried to take in one myoplex shake throughout the day and it helped. I think it has like 43 g of protein. You'll be amazed at how good you feel if you try it for about 3 days. Good luck to all!

They are open from 8-5pm. If you just call, they will get you in ASAP!

We use Drs. Paul and Lila Pappas on Richmond Road. They are wonderful. I've never taken Gus there, but (they are family practice physicians) they have a daughter who is his age and they would be great with him. They are really good about being cost efficent too. They give as many samples as they can to help with costs and will make sure insurance will cover any tests they need, as well as having a lab on site. They are on the street beside Sonic. Gus' pedi is Dr. Christina Payne, I'm not sure how easy it will be to get in to see her there at Collom and Carney...she's awesome too though!

GUs got a very mild case of chicken pox from his vaccine....a mild fever and two blisters. I think it more common then they let on. He also have a cyst-list thing pop up under his jaw that stayed there about 6 monhts and has now gone away. The docs told us not to be concerned unless it changed.

I just threw up once yesterday and took some pepto and it helped a LOT! I suggest keeping some on hand. I think I need rest more than anything. I've been messing around with some virtual models on my virtual model from the prevention magazine site. It can show you what you will sort of look like at different weights. You can put in your height and weight, build and face and hair types and it produces a similar model. I searched weight loss virtual model and found it. Y'all might want ot play around with it. I thought my target weight would be too heaving, but that weight that Dr. H set will look pretty darn good and healthy from what the model showed me. I will try to figure out how to post her on here some way so you can see what I'm talking about.

Camoflage = SPANX Okay...I think I may have a stomach bug...anybody been through that??? What do I do? I've never had tummy illness before and I'm not sure what to do with the band.
-
I don't notice them in the mirror either! I was just testing y'all this morning with a little creative spelling! LOL

Julie - I think we've all doubted the foreign object in us. I'm just coming up on 5 months out and it's just gotten to where I'm starting to forget about it being in there...until I eat. It took me a couple of months to find my port too. I kept checking under the wrong incision! Then I had Dr. H show me. The blood blister thing, I don't know about. Maybe you should call and ask? Just hang in there, and in a little while, life with the band will start feeling normal. I hardly even notice my scars in the mirrow any more too!
-
Tp - My band is fickle and sometimes I can eat lunch and sometimes just a few bites and then I'm stuffed. Usually can't eat more than two bites of breakfast and CAN actually eat dinner. I do watch fat and calories, but I eat pretty much anything...or will TRY anything considering I eat such small amounts. Chili is good to me at least going down...maybe not so much on my husband a few hour later. Salad is about the only thing I can eat and it go down 90% of the time.
-
I hope that made sense? I meant when I lose 2 more lbs, I will have less than 100 more to lose!
-
Minor Goal Approaching - I'm 2 lbs away from losing less than 100lbs. That's still a lot to lose, but when I started out needing to lose 160+ lbs and I really didn't think I would lose more than 30...it makes me feel like I wil be able to do this! Thanks to all y'all for helping me along this far, you're encouragment has made all the difference. Way to go Tanner! Sugarbear- How's the leg? Hang in there everybody!

I did the same thing, arkie. It seems to get better each week. Just do the best you can. It took me forever to be able to hold a cup at a time.

The b12 is a little tablet. I got it at Walmart. They told us last month that after we were 2 weeks postop, we could swallow pills. THe b12 is smaller than a tylenol tablet.
-
I too am happy with a few bites. I just had my first bought of head hunger last night, it seems that I don't even notice food that much anymore if I can stay busy. Before the band what I was going to eat was the first thing I thought about in the morning and the last before I slept. It's nice to be able to think about life now rather than food!

I take b-12, multi vitamin, and biotin everyday. The b12 seems to help me have a little more pick up when I'm low on protein. My PCP told me to take it if I felt tired. At first, when I didn't get enough protein, I just drug around, but I'm handling it better now. I noticed the difference when I started the b12. My hair is growing back in thicker too...after about 5 weeks of biotin...as are my nails stronger and have stopped peeling.
