Before and After Lap Band Surgery - PICTURES ONLY
lo2us replied to DeLarla's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Highest weight down 80+lbs Hope they come out. Let me know if you can't see them and I'll try again. -
Well, I FINALLY get to move this danged ticker! I've lost about 8lbs these past two weeks. Granted, last week I had a horrible time with a fill that was WAY too tight and had to go back twice and get some taken out. I could possibly be at my "sweet spot" (knock on wood) since I haven't been hungry at all, or even thought about food. It's been over a year since I've made significant progress and I'm ready to get moving again! How is everyone else doing?

I tried it this evening in potato soup and couldn't tell it had a supplement in it. Hopefully, everything I put it in will be this good! I'm feeling better now that I have some liquids in me.

It's been a while since I posted, because of crazy bad lunch the past few weeks. I had a fill yesterday and spent the evening/night throwing up everything and slimming even when I hadn't tried to drink anything. I called Betty and got in at 9am this morning for an unfill. Dr. H took half my fill out, I'm feeling better, but not at 100% yet. This was my 1st time seeing him since that awful visit in July, I'm glad it's over with, now I don't have to worry so much about how I will react next time I see him. Hopefully my BP won't be up because of nerves eveytime I'm in the office now. I went by Jow Smoothies and bought some ANYWHEY flavorless protein powder. You're supposed to use it in cooking, anybody tried this?

I don't know, I've had a crazy 4 weeks and just haven't felt like posting much. As far as everyone else, I have no idea. I do teach at Fouke, who was your sister in law? I live down here too. I've lost about 80lbs, but have about that muc more to go. I don't know how many fills I've had! I'll post about my experience getting a unfill today so we can keep the thread going.

Plain, I ordered the Nectar in Cherry and it's good, but I'm still working on it. I get tired of the same flavors all the time. I've found that the AnyWhey bullet/test tube things with 42g protein really help. Especially since they are small portions witha big punch and our pouches can't hold a lot. I take 1/2 tub before and 1/2 after a work out...they are ok tasting, kind of like jello, but have an after taste that I have to chase with water. I bought mine at Joe Smoothie, and you can order case of them too there. I think the docs have these or something similar too on their site. $.02 down.

Had a fill from NP yessterday and have a hugr bruise this morning. No problems other than bleeding more than usual after the fill and a very sore bruise over my port.

Thanks for the messages, I appreciate them. I hope that didn't come across to harsh. I've just had strong feelings lately about that visit, and I hate feeling apprehensive about going to my fills. I feel like what we post on here should be honest and forthright and that was my experience. No trouble the past two times I've been. I was disappointed in myself and I guess that was the worst part that day. I still highly recommend the procedure and our doctors to anyone who realizes what all it entails. They've changed my life for the better and I'm glad I found them. It was worth every penny I've spent even if I don't lose another lb. Though, the $15000 loan I'm paying off smarts a bit at the end of every month when things are tight at our house. You know what? I lost that darned 12lbs and I think about 5 more since then anyway!

I know I haven't posted in a while, everything is going great here. I thought I would post my 2 cents on Dr. H. I gained 12 lbs after an unfill this summer and was absolutely humilated to go in and "face the music." My bp was up and I got upset on the PA when she mentioned my weight gain. I asked to ask Dr. H to give me a couple of minutes because I was so embarassed. When he came in and we talked, I thought he was OVERLY almost hateful when lecturing me on my failuer...especially since I was noticably upset. I just sobbed until he was finished talking and got up and left. I have not seen him since. I really hope it was just a bad day on his part because I don't easily cry unless I'm ashamed of myself. I hope that if I see him again I can voice my disappointment in being scolded like a child by someone I paid $15000 to help me. I think he could have encouraged me and tell me tomorrows a new day. The last 2 times I've been my bp has been high because I worry I will have to see him again, and this time I KNOW I won't cry...I might just do some scolding myself!

I just thought I'd catch y'all up on my saga of being too tight almost since the day I was banded. We've finally got it figured out! It was an undiagnosed case of gastritis in the lower part of my stomach. I've finally lost some weight after a year of a pleateau and struggling with being sick a lot. The docs put me on prilosec and it's making a HUGE difference. I couldn't feel that I was having acid reflux after my band was placed so my stomach was irritated often. I've lost 13.5lbs since my last fill on August 30! I went Monday and didn't need a fill. I am so relieved that we've got it figured out. I am SO much more comfortable!

Just checkin' in. Homecoming is over Friday!!!! I can't wait to have some time to myself again! How is everybody?

I'm still lurking from time to time. TM effects my band, as does everything else. UBER busy this year. I'll keep an eye on y'all but will be post less than last year. I have lost 8 (in 3 weeks!")of those 12lbs I gained, thanks to Dr. K's fill and being on prescription prilosec I'm much more comfortable now. I think we might have figured it all out!

hang in there. You'll be so amazed when you wake up from surgery and aren't hungry any more!
-
I take the bullets when i get done working out. They're called AnyWhey. I'm not sure they are the same ones the docs have. Mine are from Joe Smoothies. I take half of one after every work out, I don't mix it with anything. They have 42 g of protein I think, anyway, you body can only process about 20 g at a time, so i split them up. I'm out of them at the moment so I'm trying to finish off the cherry Nectar I bought from the docs...it's kind of like cherry kool aid...that stinks!

I did water aerobics the fist part of the year and loved it. I wish I had time to do it again! Right now I'm killing myself driving 20 minutes one way to and from the gym!
-
Welcome time4me! Hang in there, the preop was the hardest part for me. Addy, What time do you get up with hubby? Maybe you could exercise instead of going back to bed? Then have breakfast and some water. If you're tired then, take a mid morning nap? For some reason since I've been banded, I wake really early very often. I have my coffee, "Walk Away the lbs" shower and get ready for work. This is on the days I don't go to the gym. I kind of like it because exercise is OUT of the way all day then. I also use protein supplements when I don't have time to eat. I like EAS drinks you can get at walmart and those protein bullets you can get a Joe Smoothies called any whey. Maybe you can try sf hot chocolate or hot tea instead too. Sorry to be so long winded, but I've been where you are.

It's called an EGD test. I was out of it most of the day yesterday and don't remember much except being relieved that it wasn't erosion.
-
I'm re-committed today. I hope to lose that weight I gained by the 12th when I follow up with the docs. I've already lost 2lbs this week!
-
Everything went well. I used the same doc as addy. I didn't even know they had done anything when I woke. I thought I was still waiting to go back. Thye didn't find anything wrong with my band, but did find gastritis in the bottom stomach, that the doc thought was either a little too much stomach acid or the beginnings of a bacterial infection that he biopsied. He gave me an antacid and told me he would call in antibiotics if it proved to be bacterial. I guess I actually KNOW now that I just let stress get to me too much and my band gets too tight. I'm going to make an extra effort to relax!

I had a horrible day at the docs. I was so embarassed of gaining, I cried. Lots of stress hitting me from different sources all at once lately. My hubby helped a lot, he's a good guy! I have the endoscopy at 6am Wednesday. I'll let y'all know what they find. I'm slightly nervous, but at least we'll really know what's going on then. I'm not sure who or when I follow up with, I will call tomorrow if I feel okay and ask. Thanks for the encouragement, addy, I needed it!
-
My doctor is concerned that I haven't had consistent fill volumes, anyone else experience this??? Any idea what the problem might be???
-
My doc is having me have an endoscopy on Wednesday morning to try to figure out why he can't give me a consistent fill. Sometimes it's .4 CCs sometimes I tolerate less. From the beginning I've been very tight, and can tolerate a "normal" half fill on average. But we can't seem to figure out an amount I can tolerate every time.

It's been a little over a year and the burning/pulling in the port comes and goes a little less. I think I've gotten use to it. I've gained at least 10lbs since May. I have no excuse...I didn't do a darn thing I was suppse to except take my vitamins and go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I overate just because I could. I go to get a fill tomorrow (I hope), I guess I'll own up to it all. I have no one to blame but myself. Since work starts next week, it should be easier to get back on track. I thought I would just confess to y'all because I'm feeling bad that I fell off the truck for the first time. I knew when Dr. H took so much out in May, I would go hog wild...literally. Nothing to do now, but pick myself up and get going again!
