Sleeping On Your Back
rodswife replied to sleepysleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I never slept on my back after surgery. As soon as I got out of recovery I curled up on my side and I one said a thing. It was never an issue. -
My Plan Of Attack For Post-Op Food Cravings.
rodswife replied to slimthickens's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anyunghaseyo. Hello in Korean. Good luck with it. My husband, kids and I just got back to the states in December from a two year tour in Korea. It's such a hard language to learn because things have many different meanings. I have faith you will do fine. -
I feel blessed to have nothing but support from people. I didn't care one way or the other because I did this for me but it feels good to know I have a support system. I gotta say though, one friend came to visit me the day of surgery and she came in eating nachos and Chinese food. I felt that was a bit insensitive but it's life. People are always going to be eating around me. I can't stop the world just because I have weight to lose.

I Feel Like A Bottomless Pit Today
rodswife posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I feel like I could eat every 2 hours. I feel like a bottomless pit. On the upside, I've only been eating protein and haven't even come close to my caloric allowance for the day. But dang, hated days like this prior to surgery and am not liking that I'm having it today. -
I Feel Like A Bottomless Pit Today
rodswife replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made a pot of pinto beans and ate about 4 bites. Then an hour later I'm hungry again. I've been sticking to proteins though. I really want something sweet so I had a sugar free Popsicle. -
Omg isopure is so disgusting. I can't even choke it down. I bought a container of the vanilla and today I went out and bought stuff to add to it cuz its just that bad. Body fortress is pretty good. I got the chocolate peanut butter. You can get it at Walmart and is way cheaper than isopure

I was sleeved 4/2/12 and am already down 22lbs. -
So I am 4 days post op and I am feeling really guilty. I keep reading all these posts from people who are losing mass amounts of weight and I feel like I should be out there running marathons and exercising to the point of exhaustion. I walked around the block once tonight with my husband and we did it fairly quickly and thought that was an accomplishment but now im not feeling that way at all. I have been adhering to my liquid diet and I guess im just worried that I will not lose weight like everyone else is doing. Am I the only one who feels this way or am I alone in this boat? I want to be successful at this since I went through the surgery and made a conscious effort to change my life. I just dont think I can dedicate as much time as some people do to working out. I have 6 children that keep me busy as it is. Sigh. I feel like im just being lazy and it's making me feel very bad about myself.

Thank you everyone. Gramaof4, im actually very anxious to start the water aerobics here. As soon as these incisions heal, im so there. lol I walk a lot during the day but I want to increase my activity.

I am one week post op today. As of today I am 15lbs down from the beginning of my pre-op. To most, that would be quite an accomplishment but to me, I feel totally depressed. I took pictures the night before surgery and took pictures again tonight, 15lbs down and you can not even tell the difference. When will I finally be able to see even a fraction of a difference. I don't like to look in the mirror and I detest taking pictures because I know exactly what I am going to see...Jaba the Hut. I just want to be beautiful and thin again instead of this monstrosity I see in front of me. I know it will happen because I am working hard and following my doctor's orders but I can't help but want to see results now. Patience was never my strong point.

Uh every time I lay down it feels like someone is squeezing my stomach and twisting it. It hurts so bad and wakes me up every night. Anyone else have that feeling? On a brighter note, I'm 9 days post op and down 20lbs.

Post Op - 2 Weeks For Speciality Food
rodswife replied to hgor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are welcome and I would say no on the rice. It expands in the belly and could cause you to leak. I would stick to the soft foods, liquids and mushy foods if your doctor allows. Solid foods like rice really aren't allowed until 4 weeks out or so. -

You can try tofu. It's high in protein as well as Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is an acquired taste. Tofu is bland. You have to find recipes for it to make it have some taste. It's not bad though. -
Thank you everyone for your words of wisdom

Hang in there girl. When you least expect it, that scale is going to move again. I know easier said than done but I have faith it will move again for you. Just try to really increase your proteins just a little more or as I heard another person say, drink a cup of decaf coffee. It has a laxative effect. lol ]

8 Days Post Op And Starving
rodswife replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I refuse to eat mashed potatoes because of the amount of carbs they have in them as opposed to the amount of proteins. They dont really equal each other out in a good way. I like the greek yogurt as well. I just eat the plain though and Breakstone low fat cottage cheese has 11 grams of protein in just 4oz plus it tastes good to me. I had 2oz of it tonight and was really full. -

Aviiva, you can have more than 2 protein shakes. The more protein the better I was told. -
How Do You Get In Your Protein?
rodswife replied to kayte819's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is how I get my protein in. I have a protein shake for breakfast. Im up around 8am. It takes me until 11 or so to drink it all. That's 26 grams right there. Then I drink some water or propel zero. A little later, I have a 4oz container of Breakstone low fat cottage cheese. That's 11 grams right there and fills me up to boot. A few hours later, I puree 2oz of chicken with some soup that I make even more liquidy with low fat, low sodium vegetable broth and drink that as well. That's 13 grams of protein. Then a few hours later, I make another protein shake which is another 26 grams of protein. That's a total of 76grams. I usually dont get done drinking until 10:30-11pm but I get them in. In between I sip on water or propel zero but because everything I am consuming is liquid, I dont worry so much about getting in extra liquids because it's all adding up. -

8 Days Post Op And Starving
rodswife replied to rodswife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No once you start eating dense protein, you will feel the restriction. The first couple of weeks are the hardest because you are just on liquids to give you stomach time to heal. Liquids run through you faster so you feel hungry. It's only the first 2 weeks. Don't be scared. -

I just puréed some broccoli cheese soup with some chicken and veggie soup broth. Here's hoping it works and it is protein. Lol
