May 30Th Sleevers, Are We Ready?
ChristineS NY replied to NewLife2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Best of luck to you!! -
The Pulmonologist ordered a sleep study to make sure I don't have sleep apnea before the surgery. Which is fine, I'd rather know and head off any possible complications.BUT, I have issues sleeping anywhere but home, how the heck am I going to be able to fall asleep in order to do this!! All the while knowing that I'm kinda being watched?! 0_o I know that I am more than likely worrying over something that I shouldn't, I just can't help but to think about it.

Congratulations on making the decision to change your life! I made the decision to get the sleeve in March and my unofficial surgery date is July 2nd. I have days where I question my decision but then I bring myself back to reality and I know that I need to do this for myself and my family. I guess I am alittle afraid of the unknown hence the reason why I stalk this forum! It really helps reading what other's are going through. Good luck with your journey!!

Hi Starshine, I've only tried Muscle Milk, chocolate so far and I actually like it a lot. I have a personal blender called the Big Boss. I mix it with water and ice. I haven't tried it with milk yet. I havent tried the pre mixed ones yet either. I really don't want to go buying all kinds before my surgery because they say your tastes changes anyhow. Afterwards I was thinking of buying a few pre made and if I like them I will buy it in the powdered form. However I am going to buy the Unjury unflavored protein that you can mix in anything and their chicken broth that everyone seems to like post op.

Muscle Milk light chocolate at vitamin shop and GNC -
My surgery date is July 2nd!! Hudson Valley NY at ORMC My preop diet is 2 weeks long. Protein shake for breakfast and lunch. snack - a peice of fruit. dinner is 3-4 oz of lean meat (chicken, turkey, fish) 1 cup of steamed veg.1 bowl salad with low cal, low carb dressing. Lots of water! I really can't complain about my pre op diet. It is doable and much easier than a strict liquid diet that I see many people having to do. My Dr. also recommends walking atleast 30 minutes a day. He also wants me to start my multi Vitamins and mineral suppliments daily.

Should All Pre-Oppers Get A Sleep Study Done?
ChristineS NY replied to made4more's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my pre op appointments were to see a pulmonologist. I took a breathing test in the office which came back fine and he ordered a sleep study test to be on the safe side. He asked me if I snored and I told him only when I'm exhausted and even then it's not full out fog horn snores. It has to do with how your body reacts to being under during surgery. -
You are one brave man to go through all of this alone! I am so glad things are going well. I wish you all the best and loving support after you get home.

New Here - Surgery Date July 2Nd
ChristineS NY replied to ladyarwenrose's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Lady, We share surgery dates, we'll be sleeve sisters! My Mom still asks me if I think I'm doing the right thing. She talked to my husband on the phone while I was out and asked him if he thought I was doing it for appearance wise?! I'm getting tired of being questioned. I know she is very scared and concerned, which is natural and I get that. I know the reasons why I decided to have the sleeve done. I don't want to end up in her foot prints with a heart attack at the age of 48 resulting in a quadruple bypass. Or passing away after many years of uncontrolleable diabetes and passing away of a heart attack at 53 like my Dad. I also have chsen not to tell a lot of people, famiy members included because I just don't need the added stress. My husband and 3 children are beside me 100% in my decision. My Mom and sister are coming around, natually they are afraid of the unknown. We need to do this for ourselves and our quality of life! -

(hopefully) I feel like I've had an appointment every week for the last month and a half! It's getting closer!!!

Good luck to the both of you! Wishing you both a speedy, painfree recovery

Congrats on making the decision to change your life! Your story is similar to mine. Work out like crazy only to play around with 10 lbs. for what seems like forever. I am towards the end of all of my pre op requirements and have a date of July2nd. I am ready but also very nervous. I just want to be on the other side, sitting on the loser's bench. It really helps hearing stories from sleeve veterans. Everyone is so helpful on this board!

Best of luck to you! -
Don't ever feel selfish, the good Lord knows what you need before you speak it and will be with you every step of the way. You will be in my prayer's. I understand your nervousness and can only imagine how I will be when I am in your shoes. I was a wreck the morning of my endoscopy and thought to myself how the heck am I going to be the morning of my surgery?! I needed to shake myself out of it and gain control. (as much as I could anyhow) You're going to do great and I look forward to hearing an update from you! This time tomorrow you'll be on the loser's bench!
