    First Weigh-In

That's so true I did the same thing. Then they told me I had to loose 5% of my total weight. I did it but your right I should have wore a snow suit and boots lol
  4. Went to my pre-op appt. today and I'm getting excited and scared at the same time which I'm sure is normal. But I found out my dr. Uses Realize band instead of lap-band I'm not sure how I feel about this. For the last 4 months preparing for surgery I have only researched lap-band. I start my 9 day liquid diet Sunday so I have a little time to look into this but if anybody has any info to offer I would appreciate it. The dr. Did tell me it has a smaller low profile port which I have to admit I like the idea of that.
  5. Congrats!!! I got my approval on the 3rd of August and then my surgeons office called to set up my surgery (aug.28th), and pre-op and that's when it really set in that I was actually going to get banded. And I have been a nervous wreck since lol.
  6. I Finally have my surgery date (August 28) and I was fine till I actually heard the nurse say "we scheduled your surgery ". I got off the phone and and felt sick because of fear. I have never had any kind of surgery, I just don't know what to expect. I'm worried I won't be able to handle it? Anybody have any words of wisdom that will ease my nerves? I'm afraid after all this work to get where I am I will back out because of fear? Please help?

    Question About Diet

I have BCBS I had to do lab test, chest x-ray, urine test, liver and gallbladder sonogram, 2 nutrition meetings, 2 psyche exams, sleep study and had to loose 5% of my weight. They have scheduled my surgery for Aug 28th and I still have to do pre-op meeting and bloodwork on the 16th and start my 9 day liquid diet on the 19th. I started this journey on April 23 with my initial meeting, it's been a long tedious road but I am finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck and just go with the flow.
  8. I like the GNC total lean shakes and BSN Dessert shakes are low carb and lots of great flavors.

    New Here And Question

My insurance (BCBS) required me to loose 5% of my weight before the dr.'s office could send my papers in for approval. I did the "liquid pre-op diet" to loose my required weight. I figured it was a good way to get used to the diet I was gonna have to do later on.

    August Roll Call

Got my date Friday August 28th guess I'm going to be an August bandster after all.
  13. My surgeons office called today and my insurance approved my surgery!! I was hoping to be a August baby but guess they are now scheduling into September. I guess it will give me time to loose a little more weight and wrap my head around they whole thing. I will say though it only took less than two weeks after my paperwork was faxed to approve my surgery. This is one VERY Happy girl!!!!
  14. As far as your water consumption, I got a "hydracoach" on Amazon and it's my new best friend. It keeps track of the water(or whatever you put in it) and lets me know how much and how often I drink. I am thinking it will help me after surgery even more One of my best tips so far.

    Awaiting Insurance Approval

I also have BCBS, my dr.'s office sent all my paperwork in on the 23rd of July on the 30th I called insurance company and they expected to have an answer by August 3rd and said I should call back then. I have did all the required testing just waiting for approval and I assume I schedule my pre-op stuff. I have a 2 week liquid diet as well. The clock is ticking and am anxious to get it done in August as well. We are getting closer, it's been a long road I started my first appointment April 23rd

    Sleep Study For No Reason?

My dr. Requested the same fore me. I said the same thing you did, that I don't snore or anything. But to my surprise I have sleep apnea and didn't even know it. For your own safety it's better that the surgeon knows this going into surgery. I had a hard time getting to sleep in a different bed but my family dr. Gave me ambien so I could sleep long enough for the study. I left the hospital at 4 in the morning.
  19. Hello, I'm just staring my journey. I went to my seminar april 28thand my first dr. Appointment was May 8th. I know I have a long journey ahead and would love a "buddy" to help me through. The whole idea of surgery is freaking me out, I just hope I stay strong and don't syke myself out.

Is Anyone Else Scheduled For August?

I think I might be banded in late August. I have to loose required 13 pounds before they send my papers into my insurance for approval. The dr. Office said they don't foresee any problems and my insurance company (BCBS) has a fairly quick turn around. All my appointments are done except for my last nutrition classNd that's when I have to do a weight check so I hope I loose it by the 16th.

    Day 1 Of Liquid Diet

I Love GNC Lean shakes, My dr. is reccomending Unjury shakes. I'm sort of picky about my shakes so the lean shakes are good for the 2 week pre-op liquid diet? I also like the BSN dessert shakes they are low carb but I don't know if they are reccommended. I could use all the help I can get on this topic.
