Sick Of Protein Shakes!
tomosia replied to MiriamE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hated the shakes post op, just two sweet. The unjury chicken soup was the best, I also liked nectuar's lemon tea. I got some of the plain powder and it doesn't chane the taste, but doe change the texture which is a little odd. I did great with the shakes per op, bug I could chug them. Now it takes me hours to get one down. -
Sick Of The Limited Choices For The 2 Week Post Op Liquod Diet

I really struggled with this too. Every shake tasted too sweet. I found the unjury chicken soup the best, lots of protein and savory. -

It's Been A Week Already!?
tomosia replied to jessicakesbanded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just over one week out. My problem is getting my protien in. The sweet taste is getting to me. I do ok with savory, but sweet is just too much. I am getting 3 in a day and should be at 4-5. I am doing ok on other fluids. I think my problem is before surgery I could chug the shakes but now I have to sip slowly. I should move to mushies on Wed. Can't wait -
I felt much better day 3-4, and went back to dork day 6. I am tired at the end of the day, but I was before the surgery too. Hang in there it will get better.

It is all up to you. I drank almost exclusively soda, but when I made the decision to do lap band I stopped. I have been off sodas for about four months. I had surgery a week ago. I don't miss the sodas. But it is as much a mind set as anything. The band is a tool not a cure all. You can do it if you want to.
-
My dr said it would cause complications and I am just not ready to risk it. I went soda free about two months before surgery. During stressful times I want one, but it all in my head. I am using mios and they really help.

Day two was the worse, three was better for me, four and five even better. Tomorrow is day six for me. I can do just about anything except bend at the waist. I use the heating pad a couple of times a day, but no pain meds since day four.

Day two was the worse for me, I hurt everywhere!! Day three was better and so was day 4 and 5. Tomorrow is day 6 and I start back to work, which I know will be tiring, but I am moving good and feeling good. I did break out the heating pad and that helped, just remember on use it for about 30 minutes t a time, o as not o make the area hyper-sensitive. I also tried o move more and more each day.

This Will All Be Worth It Right???
tomosia replied to casey11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally understand where you are at!!! I was banded 8/10 and I'm dreaming about food when I not even hungry. I did try a bite of chicken and it hurt!! I am getting plenty of water/diet powered, but struggling with my potien shakes. I think it is more because I am tired of the sweet taste. I do good on the unjury chicken soup, but can only have 2 of those a day. I found having a shake around all the time helps. Aldo the same with water. Just hang in there and don't rush yourself. -
It was so strange, my doctors office called and said they had gotten word from the insurance that I would have to do three more months of dr supervised wl, then 30 minutes later they called back and said I had been approved. They gave me a date 3 weeks out and I had a moment or two of panic, but calmed down. Then they called and said they had an opening a week earlier. I had one afternoons notice to start my prep diet. That was good because I had less time to worry. I am 5 days post op and feeling really good. Can do just about anything except bend at the waist. I am very happy I did it. It is easy to say don't worry, but hard to do. Just focus on want you want your life to be when you lose the weight.

I Have Had It With The Shoulder Pain!!!!
tomosia replied to SabrinaDollar's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also used a heating pad today and that helped a lot. Just use it for about 30 minutes then turn it off for an hour ot two, then again for 30 minutes. If you use it for longer periods you can actually make the pain worse because you will draw too much blood to the area. -
I was banded on 8/10. I am only allowed protein shakes, broth and sugar free beverages. Water make me burp, so for now I am doing sugar free powerades. I get those own pretty well, but am lucky to get in 2 1/2 shakes. Well 1 1/2 shake and 1 chicken soup unjury. What I tried today is o keep a shake beside me all day and alternate sips of it with powerade. It got me to 2 1/2, yesterday was only about 1 1/2. I feel better today, not so sore, etc. But I am dreaming about food, a lot. More than ever before. I o back to work on Wed. Which I think will help, because I will be busier. Aim trying to work my way back to at least 4 shakes a day. I have not been hungry, at all yet.

I am day 4 post op. Day one wasn't bad had a morphine pump, day two was horrible, couldn't drink without burping. Day three better ad today not bad at all. My hardest problem is getting mynshakes in. I tended pre op to chug them, and can't donthat now.

I am being banded on the 10th. Doing good on the pre-op diet, but getting nervous on the surgery.
-
Mine is two weeks, I got a call today they have am opening one week earlier o I start mine tomorrow!!
-
Dr. Office called today they have an opening on the 10th so I start my pre-op diet tomorrow. It is really going to happen
-
I got my date it is august 17th. I go on the 31st for my pre-op appointment and start the liquid diet on the 2nd.
-
I am scheduled for the 17th and am very scared. First never had any type of surgery, the liquid deit scares me and mostly the fear of failure. But I have to do something I can't continue o live like this.

Is Anyone Else Scheduled For August?
tomosia replied to justathing2me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told this week the insurance company would require 3 more months of dietitian visits, which bummed me out. Then they called back about 30 minutes later and said the medical supervisor at my insurance company approved me without the additional time!!! So I go for my pre-op appointment on the 31st and the surgery is scheduled for the 17th. I am excited and nervous!! -
The thought of giving up my diet dr. Peppers is what held me back from even considering lap band for almost two years. I'm in my 3 month mswl phase right now and haven't had a soda in about six weeks. It was very hard at first, and with the on set of summer I miss them even more, but I have decided my life is worth more than a soda. I love the mios especially a mix of tea and lemonade, and those have really helped.

My sister found a recipe that we modified but really like, 1 cup Quinoa cooked, 1 cup of pineapple, 1 can of mandarin oranges (with splenda), 1/2 cup of crasins, and 3 tablespoons sugar free marmalade....makes a bunch but is really good.

I haven't been banded yet but I take 7500 mg daily of biotin because my doctor said it would make my hair stronger. I have been taking it about 6months and I have noticed my hair does seem stronger and less likely to break.

I think this is the main reason I ont plan on telling my mom or most people. They don't realize how thoughtless simple comments are.
