I had my sleeve done with Dr Alvarez on April 27th and would do it again in a heartbeat. This man is passionate about what he does and his staff is top notch. The compassion he and his staff have are unmatched in my opinion. They take care of you from start to finish. They will pick you up in San Antonio and bring you to and from his office in Mexico. My wife was with me and his assistant Jessica walked with her everywhere, everytime she ventured out and made sure she was good to go. At no time did she feel threatened or scared. I simply cannot put into words how much I would recommend this man. He ONLY does three surgeries a day unlike others in Mexico who are hurding 10 people a day like cattle in and out. I highly recommend you check out his YouTube Videos and if you have any specific questions please let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you out anyway possible.

Mushy Food Ideas
Sergeant_Hotsauce replied to DawnDuke1983's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jimmy, man I'm really sorry to hear that bro. Had no idea. Wishing you well and we'll keep you in our prayer here at the Patin house. God's Speed Bro! -
Today marks three weeks since my sleeve surgery. I have been on "Full Liquids" for two weeks and move to mushies on Sunday. I have to say I have not been getting my Protein in and the past two days I've missed my Water mark as well. I've felt horrible especially at night for some reason. I catch the chills, and am just dead beat tired. I've really focused on my Fluids today and I think I'm close to 64 oz's. I haven't been hungry at all either which kind of worries me.....I hope moving to mushies is a smooth transition. Otherwise, the weight is still coming off. My Stats are: Starting Weight Pre-op Diet - 267 Surgery Date - 249 Today - 221 Stay strong and positive fellow sleevers!!!

Going To Mx 5/28 And Have Question
Sergeant_Hotsauce replied to slatond's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm pretty sure that as per HIPPA regulations are not required to disclose any personal medical issues with anyone inside your place of employment. You can tell them if you want but I'm pretty sure you don't have to. -
So today I'm back to the grind. I flew into DC and damn if I haven't had heartbrun/reflux all day. What are you guys taking for this? I bought a bottle of Tums earlier but its not helping much.
-
I'm not having any problem going to room. I don't go as often since I can't drink a whole bottle of water in one swoop. I'd say I go 4 or 5 times a day. That's about the only way I know if I'm hydrated or not.

Congratulations on your awesome progress and I wish you continued sucess!!

Keep up the postive attitued! It gets better every day, I promise you.

Today is my one week mark since my sleeve with Dr Alvarez. So far its been smooth sailing. I'll be on clear liquids until Sunday then I start full liquids. Don't really have any complaints other than the clear liquids are really getting old but its what I have to do so its really not a problem. Day of surgery I was 249 down from 269. Today I am down to 234!! The road ahead looks good!!!

"mexicans Kidnap Americans. There Is A War There"
Sergeant_Hotsauce replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Its funny how people can be so nieve....I can gaurantee you if you "actually" watched the local news in ANY town across america you will find the same kind of crap being shown. Kidnappings, killings, shots fired, the list goes on and on and on.....tell your friend to grow up and get a life. There are parts of Mexico that are bad, granted, I get that but so is EVERY city in the US. I was just in Mexico 7 days ago for my sleeve, with my wife and low and behold here I am typing in beautiful Colorado and no I was held hostage and forced to come here by Mexican drug lords....my wife walked around every day to get something to eat and never felt the least bit threatened. -
Best of luck to you brother. I'm sure you'll be just fine. Keep us updated!!

Garcia, Alvarez, Aceves- So Confusing!
Sergeant_Hotsauce replied to amytug's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I chose Dr Alvarez and here's why! First and foremost he has dedicated his life to this proceedure by performing over 2800 VGS's. I also found every single one of his YouTube videos to be extremly informative. It showed me; at least that he was dedicated and comiited to keeping his patients informed. Also he ONLY does three proceedures a day unlike others where I've heard they are running people in and out like cattle. One guy posted he was number 10 on the day. You also recover in an actual hosptial, not a hotel or guest house or whatever else is going on out there. This was EXTREMLY important to me. If there was anything that happened I wanted a piece of mind in knowing I was somewhere there was someone who could tend to me. His cost are $8700 but in my opinion it was worth every penny. His assistant Jessica was a heaven sent for my wife. She would take her lunch, dinner and check in on us ALL the time. I was impressed beyond belief with he and his staff and will forever be a champion for this man. Very few people effect me in the way this person has and I will forever be grateful to him. If you have any questions, concerns or need anything please feel free to let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you out. -
Well gang I'm up and waiting on Dr A to come and discharge me. So far so good. A little gas pain in the midsection but nothing too bad. Two and Hal hour drive to San Antonio and we'll get to hotel and try to rest then tomoorw fly back Denver. Yesterday was a little rough but nothing anyone couldn't handle. I'll post more when I get back home in Denver. Thanks to everyone who follows and whished me well. It meant more than you can fathome!!

Heading Back To San Antonio
Sergeant_Hotsauce replied to Sergeant_Hotsauce's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The entire operation was $8700. But that includes the hospital stay and two nights in a hotel if needed. The biggest thing for me was being able to recover in a hospital and not a hotel or guest house. I'd be very weary of those kind of deals. Dr Alvarez is top notch and has performed over 2800 sleeves. If you have any questions please let me know. -
I'm two days post op and feel pretty good. The day of surgery was a breeze. The second day was terrible but I did battle nausea and gas. But the staff was on top it every minute and made it very tolerable. Just make SURE you do EXACTLY what your docs tell you. Don't experiment, or think what if, maybe etc....you'll be fine. I have some post in the first forum from preop to yesterday. Take a look. Good luck and keep us posted and updat the man room often.

What Would Happen If I Cheated?
Sergeant_Hotsauce replied to SkinnyOnMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 2 days out and I can't even fathome why you want to do something like this...don't get me wrong I understand everyone has their own daemons but you just went through a life changing event and " wondering " what would happen?? Have you sat back and wondered what would happen if you weren't fortunate enough to have this proceedure?? Dr give orders because they know what is best and what the consequences are if they are not followed. Sorry for the tough love but this kind of talk just infuriates me. -
Hey guys just a quick update. I'm in San Antonio getting ready to meet Rosie to head down to Eagle Pass. Tomorrow morning is the big day. Be on the look out for updates.

Here is my update to this point my my process. We left the hotel with Dr a' driver at7:20 and came across the border without any problems. As we driving aroun I have to honest I was allittle worried based on the surrounding area but once we got here it wasn't so bad. We had visit with Dr A where he reviews your history then as they say "they" scoot you away. Now when I say scot I mean they move fast. We left the Docs area @8 and by 8:30 I'd already had my blood work X-ray photo taken and into the hospital gown. The hospital is old and it shows but it's not bad at all. Just be prepared for a flashback in time so to speak. I was second on the schedule so I laid in bed until 11. The guy before me had large stomach so the removal took a little longer than usual since they wanted to pull it slowly not cause him more pain necessary. I dontt. Remember much once they gave me my happy juice but my wife says I kissed her and began crying like baby......again I have no recollection of said event. I woke up in my room with very little pain and went right back to sleep. I've been up pee several times today and just finished two rounds down the hall. Dr A and his assistant have both stopped by today and are amazing. I can't have anything today except rinsing my mouth put. No swallowing anything. Tomorrow I start ice chips andping Water. I'll send out another updat to,or row. I also apologize if this isn't the best write up but my eyes are a little fuzzy for some reason. Take care everyone!!

We made it to Eagle Pass this afternoon from San Antonio. The drive is LONG but it's mostly uneventful. Checked into the Holiday Inn and have been chilling all day. For all of you who will be on a liquid diet, I highly recommend heading to the Asian restaurant called Chop Chop. They have about three or four soups on the menu and the Hot and Sour is outstanding!!! I ordered a to go quart and had it for dinner in the room tonight Also there is a casino about 5 minutes away. They will come and pick you up if you call them. We went for about an hour or so and walked out $500 up. I'll update tomorrow after I'm up and about after surgery.
