No Longer Hot? Omg This Is Awesome!
KBT replied to WhoozisAnyway's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have the same problem and my husband is always frozen while I want to turn the a/c down even more. As soon as I got home from the hospital two weeks ago, I turned the a/c up five degrees and sometimes more. I guess I'll be saving on the electric bill! Another sleeve benefit! Besides the constant sweating that others have mentioned, I also turn beat red so it looks like I am going to pass out from heat when everyone else is perfectly normal. I hope that too goes away as it is so embarrassing. -
Hi Sharon, I've asked you to be my friend and would like to join the "secret" May group. My name is Karen T. I don't like to give out full names over the Internet. I've been very busy. My oldest daughter gave birth to her first child and my first grandchild yesterday. She is beautiful, of course. What else could I say. I can definitely tell that anesthesia is still wearing me out.
-
I just had my surgery on Monday knowing that my daughter was expecting her first child, my first grandchild, this past Wednesday. I was a little nervous about having the surgery so close to the due date. I told my daughter we needed to think positive thoughts and that Sunday, May 20th would be the best day for the baby to be born. We had several other things going on in the family and this would work for those things also. Well, guess what! My daughter is at the hospital right now and it looks like her little girl will be born on the 20th! See what positive thinking can do. I planned on getting a decent night's sleep and then head to the hospital in the morning but of course I can't sleep. My husband conked right out!

Thanks Cinemagirl. We are all excited! I have three daughters and this new little one is going to be quite spoiled.

How Much Liquids A Day Should I Be Getting In? 6 Days Post Op
KBT replied to NJsharon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I thought I was going to pass out last night. Had some gatorade G2 today and feel much better. It was not on my allowable list but it was obvious that was what I needed. I will keep it incorporated in my daily liquids for now. -
I have had that problem too, Cinemagirl and was feeling really light headed yesterday and this morning. I was afraid I would have to go to the ER for some Fluid but hopefully I've gotten over that. Feeling pretty well at this point. Either way, I plan on spending the day tomorrow at the hospital. My oldest daughter is having her first child, my first grandchild and her Water has started leaking. She is headed to the hospital tonight. I can tell she will be a good baby because about a month ago, many of us in the family had several things going on, like surgery, and I said it would work best for us all if she were born on May 20th and look what's happening! How about that? ha, ha..

I think we are all hoping we are doing it right, huh? I started feeling light headed this afternoon and have started to push the liquids even harder. It's amazing how much more I can drink each day and hopefully I can beat the dehydration and not have to go to the hospital. I use a cane to walk and with my physical issues, I can only walk short distances. I am really worried about the exercise part of weight loss. Ellis71, Walking a mile already is great! Do any of you have a pain ball? Its kind of hard to describe so I'll attempt to attach a link here. I've had relatively no abdominal pain up to this point. http://www.skincaidmd.com/pdf/painbuster.pdf I have to carry this little bag around but it's really not a problem. My husband will pull the tubing out tomorrow as its supposed to last five days. No biggy for me or him to do this.

This must be the May 14th thread! I too was sleeved on Monday and feeling a little better everyday. My surgery took over three hours. I have a ton of scar tissue and my surgeon spent an hour finding his way around the tissue before he could even get started with the surgery. Tuesday was my worst day. Every time I took a sip of anything, I would start vomiting violently but of course there was nothing in there to come up. My daughter and her boyfriend were visiting and I think I scared them a little. Luckily this passed by the next day. I would guess that I only got about 10 ounces in today which is probably double what I took in yesterday. Does this seem normal? I'm trying...

Four Days Away From Surgery And Feeling "blah" :/
KBT replied to Delta_35's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Delta, my surgery is Monday with Dr. Halmi. I understand what you are saying and you are definitely not crazy. The office staff often asks me if I'm excited and I can't EVER say I'm excited about having surgery. I think the excitement will come when I see the weight coming off and it becomes more of a reality. -
Wow! So sorry you had to be in that small percentage and hope you are getting better. I know about being the one fitting in the minute percentage though mine was not life threatening. I have drop foot from hip revision surgery which happens to only 1% of people. This is a partial paralysis of my foot which is NO fun to live with. Hang in there and keep us posted on how you are doing. I know your cats need a crazy lady to take care of them.

My 2Nd Nutrition Appointment- Waste Of Time And Money
KBT replied to pdog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm excited about getting it going! I just saw Dr. Halmi this morning for my pre-op visit and everything is just about done. I can't do the Optifast because I'm allergic to milk Protein. I'm doing okay with whey so it must be Casein the allergist had tested me on. Those pre-made liquid Protein drinks make we really sick. I am supposed to do about 1,000 calories a day, drinking Protein shakes and one lean meal a day. Dr. Halmi said he wanted me to lose 10 lbs these next two weeks. I'll have to pull out my hand weights. That's a good idea, Debby. You are right too.... he is a really caring man. I knew that upon our first meeting. -

Just Cleaned Out My Closet (Pre-Op)
KBT replied to Melissa D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is May 14th too! I haven't touched my closet as nothing in there is too big for me. I am at my highest weight. As an incentive, I want to go out and buy a pair of jeans that I hope to wear once I hit my goal weight. -
My 2Nd Nutrition Appointment- Waste Of Time And Money
KBT replied to pdog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Delta! I've not really had any problem with Bluepoint. They have been very accommodating getting me through the insurance requirements. Even though I found the required nutrition classes a waste of my time, I figured it was just the insurance requirement and I checked the boxes. They submitted my request for surgery to my insurance company last Friday and I got the approval on Tuesday. Now that was fast and I am very excited to have my surgery scheduled on May 14th. Do you have your surgery scheduled? -
Not only are you nervous about the upcoming surgery and anticipation of changing your whole life, you are also off sugars, carbs and the fat that got us all in this place we are in. Add that all together and it's only normal to feel grumpy and out of sorts. My liquid diet starts Monday and I fully anticipate feeling this way.

2 Weeks Pre-Op & Headache... What Can I Take?!
KBT replied to NJsharon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only have to go off my anti-inflammatory meds, to include aspirin, motrin, and so forth one week before surgery. DId your surgeon tell you to go off of them so soon? -
I'm May 14th so it looks like we will all be going through this together!
-
Put a couple of weights in your pockets or strap some to your ankles the first time you go see the bariatric surgeon. That should take care of it.
-
You have every right to feel sorry for yourself! No one wants to go through ANY type of surgery and knees are definitely not a fun surgery to have. I hope you enjoy Bonesmart and maybe I will see you over there. I'm an advisor on that forum but have been a bit absent lately preparing for wls. Actually, I have had two knee replacements, a hip replacement and a year later, a revision of that same hip. I will be having an ankle replacement 6 months to a year after my sleeve which will be in May. I've got the surgeries lined up, unfortunately. You are doing great with the weight loss!
-
Hi Kathy, Since you are a forum veteran, I'd like to suggest you go to www.bonesmart.org to get better acquainted with others going through knee replacements. I have had four replacements in total and Bonesmart has been an excellent resource for me. You are right that knee replacements are not the easiest thing to go through and it really takes a full year to recover from. I wish you well with both your continued weight loss and your upcoming replacement. Oh and by the way, it seems common that most have one difficult knee replacement and one easy one. Hopefully you got the difficult one over with first.

My 2Nd Nutrition Appointment- Waste Of Time And Money
KBT replied to pdog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My 90 days as required by BC/BS Federal Plan will be up on April 20th. I'm hoping to have my surgery early May as we get busy at work toward the end of May and it doesn't slow down again until November. I see Dr. Halmi and really like him. How about you? When is your six months up? -
Good luck tomorrow Deb.

My 2Nd Nutrition Appointment- Waste Of Time And Money
KBT replied to pdog's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi pdog, I bet you are with the same surgical group that I'm with except that I'm on the three month plan. My second nutrition meeting was a group discussion about how bad the food is at TGI Fridays and Bob Evans. Can't say I've eaten at either in many, many years. I was mistaken in thinking she would discuss proper nutrition, both pre-surgery and after, rather then the calories in restaurant food but what would I know compared to a 19 year old! Okay, she was at least 22. I'm with you.....$50 wasted. Fair Oaks-Bluepoint, right?
