I need to ask you a question you were told that you may weigh more when you leave the hospital? Why would this be? No one has said that to me yet

I have my appointment this week. I'm worried about it. What kind of questions do they ask. I have suffered from depression for most of my adult life and I'm worried that will be an issue. Has anyone had an issue with this part of the pre op ?

It was just a recommendation, that would help me with the issues I have and learn how to haddle them.

Well I had my evaluation today, not sure how it went. I got really upset while speaking to her. She said that I really should be in counseling to deal with all the underling things that she believes that is making me have such low self esteem and poor body image. So now I'm worried that she won't approve me. Do they tell you if that is the case?

Yes I had the band from February 2010 till July 2012. I had lost just over 100 lb and was feeling great, I actually liked the way I looked, which I have never felt before. I ended up having issues with keeping anything down even water. I ended up having an emergency surgery to have the bad removed due to the band having scar tissue wrapped around it and making it so tight. I hated the fact that I had to have it removed. Everything that I was afraid of happened, gained all the weight back and having medical issues again. So I'm in the process of getting all the pre op stuff done. Hopefully I'll have my surgery in January.

I can totally relate to you. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm looking to have surgery in January. Have you stated anything as far as the pre op stuff?

I also take these meds, and I was just wondering if any one had issues actually taking your meds after surgery. I remember after I had my lap band ( which was removed in 2012) I had to crush all my meds.

I'm hoping to have my surgery in January , and I have started some of my pre op appointments. I had gone to my heart Dr and because my blood pressure has been going very high with chest pains he has me going for a Nuclear stress test. The heart dr office just told me that the nuclear stress test is only good for 30 days. Has anyone had this issue where the insurance company wouldn't acept this type of stress test?

I know that Stress tests are required for this surgery, regular one. But my Dr had me do the nuclear one because I have had heaviness in my chest along with high blood pressure. So wanted to make sure I was ok. I'll get results tomorrow. But I didn't think it would cause an issue .

I'm in the early stages of all the preop stuff. My first nut appointment is tomorrow. I actually have to fast for 4 hours before for some kind of test that measures the amount calories you take in. I've never heard of this. My situation is a bit different see I have been though all this before. I had all the preop stuff, and the 2 weeks all liquid diet before surgery and all the phases of the food after. Not to mention the recovery after the surgery. I had the lap band before and had to have it removed. I had lost 100 + and I have gained it all back since I had it removed. So I know what I'm in store for and I really hated It all. I just need to keep in mind the results are worth it. I keep on thinking if I really want to do all this again. So I totally understand.

Rudy Woo. I totally understand, see I had all that. I had the band for 2 yrs and lost 100+ lbs, but I had some major issues with it where I could keep anything down even water. So I needed to have it removed and within a year I gained it all back. So now I'm going to this way now. And I want those feelings back. I have been misable for years now!!

Man you said it all. I want the all the same things. I'm just starting out with all my appointments. I'm hoping for January ..

Hi my name is Cheryl, I had mine removed July 18 th and I feel like, I know I have gained weight back. My clothes are tight. I feel like **** and a loser. I had the band for over 2yrs. And lost 100+ . I really hate that I had to have it removed. ( for medical reasons ). The feeling that I can eat anything is really killing me Has anyone else had this happen to them??
