  1. How do you deal with your family eating while you are not? I am only on day 4 Post-Op, and admit that I am a food addict, so watching my husband making Hamburger Helper while I am eating a 1/4 cup of cream of chicken soup with protein powder...it's making me unreasonably mad....and frustrated....and sad....any advice or tips... AND...PS...when does this gas go away?
  2. Did they give you a pre-op diet? I had to do 15 days of shakes and liquids only...wasn't fun, but I lost 12 pounds doing it....can you go to a Vitamin store and get a protein based shake mix and try it for a few days? 4/6 shakes a day and some movement should get those 5 pounds off fast

    Hi Karie! I was banded on Monday...and feel much better today...days 2 and 3 were the worst for me, but day 4 was better and today even better! I think that you should be ok with a heating pad....just keep it on low....and hang in there!

    Trouble With Clearance

    Has anyone here been held up by psychological clearance? I hit the wall with this in October when the Dr. suggested I started to see a therapist, and have struggled for months to get psych clearance. I finally did, the date was set, I started the pre-op diet, and have struggled with it. I mean, we are going from eating pretty much whatever we please to 4-5 protien shakes a day...it's going to be hard at first, right? I had an appointment with my therapist today and really struggled with being honest about how hard pre-op and making these major changes are on me....I REALLY want to have the surgery and keep telling myself that I can deal with my issues after that.....but now feel guilty that I wasn't totally honest....anyone else? (thanks for letting me vent)

I have been using my Cuisinart blender to make my shakes (Bariatric Advantage) but find that they are coming out VERY foamy....granted this helps to keep me feeling full, but lots of bubbles in tummy means lots of gas and as much as my little ones think it's funny...I don't! What are your tips/tricks?

    Docs are there for a reason, and so are ER's.....I would rather go to the ER and have the exray done to make sure it's in place and ease my mind than to worry and make it worse...

    I like Bariatric Advantage chocolate and vanilla....find that I can mix the most stuff in with them.

    It really was that simple...just drink some chalky shake so they can see that everything goes down ok....my radiologist adjusted the screens so I could watch, too....it was kinda cool to see it go down your throat and into your stomach!

    Welcome! You are lucky to have such a short pre-op diet! Most of us have two weeks or more! I am being banded on the 23rd and started mine the day after Easter....Just hang tough...the first few days are rough and then it gets better!

    My therapist and I have been working on finding "new soothing hobbies" and I was thinking about picking up sewing again! When my girls were little little, I would make them matching outfits...now that they are older and playing with American Girl Dolls, I am sure I could make clothes for the dolls a LOT cheaper than buying them.....makes me want to pull out the sewing machine right now!

    I agree....protein is the best "cheat" that you could do....I lost my battle to a Kit Kat, two mini twix bars, and a mini snickers.....but you gotta get right back on the horse!

    I am so there with you...I just pulled myself out of my bed after watching 3 episodes of 16 and Pregnant....having a crappy day and a chocolate Protein Shake just isn't gonna do it... But...I think you did a great a very healthy thing by coming here and posting it; I am glad to see you even said you felt better as you are getting it out! I have an awesome therapist that I can text or e-mail when it is getting REALLY hard for me and she sends back ideas of things to do....one that I really liked was to pick a comedian you like and look up videos on YouTube....
