OH TOKIESGIRL6 - I think we're twins, separated at birth. I love your attitude. I guess the most notable part of all that is that it runs in my family. My maternal grandmother died at an early age of heart diease but had several other ailments related to her obesity. Her mother died of an infection she got from cutting her toenails, because she was diabetic... My mother had the WLS that was cutting edge at the time, it's my turn. Luckily - at least so far my daughter seems to have gotten her size from her father's side. Either that or she looks at me and panics... which ever, she is a healthy weight and watches it closely.

Love your attitude. Pile up in the middle of the bed with your books and try to relax and snooze when you need to.

Sincerely hope you do better on your pre-op diet than I have. Went to the horse races last night, did great - didn't have anything, not even so much as a soft drink, then went to some friends house, who had a new drink machine, and before I knew it I had an adult beverage in my hand! Now, of course it was liquid, but not on my "diet".
-
My gosh - how much coffee can you have in one day? LMFAO!! BUZZZ I think the next few days I'm supposed to switch to decaf anyway. Sugery in 4 days (4/18/12). Still haven't told two of my three kids. Thinking I should, but.... I don't want to hear the "isn't that dangerous", crap from them. My mother had stomach stapling surgery in 1980 - she still vomits after every single meal so when my kids think of WLS that's what they think of. The one of my kids that I did tell commented "oh, so like Chella (they call my mother by her first name), eat half a biscut and then run throw up?". And at that point I was only considering, I hadn't made a decision, and certainly hadn't set a date. I tried the whole "times are different", "technology has advanced", "more is known now about how to control your diet" but none of it made a difference so I just dropped the subject. enough random ramblings for now.... more to follow, I'm sure.

you're right - I've screwed it up badly enough that I might as well punt!
-
That WAS my pre-op diet. Now I'm afraid I need to be a little more extreme to make up for my lapse in judgement. I've seen some posts that talked about a 3 day clear liquid diet pre-op. If that will make up for stupid decisions, I'm willing to try it.

When Is It Safe To Eat Bread Or Potato Chips?
Kami76065 replied to CeeBelize's topic in Gastric Plication Surgery Forum
according to my nutritionist it's safe to eat those when you're ready to gain your weight back.... She did say dry, crunchy things like chips were sliders and would go down easily, as a matter of fact too easily and go right on through and you wouldn't feel full, and therefore wouldn't stop when you should - thus gain it back. I've never seen a chip as appealing as a size 8! LOL -
Surgery is on the 18th and I've done a terrible job on my pre-op diet. We've had out of town company for a week, and I have screwed up more times than I would like to admit. MIL is leaving in the morning so I've got to hit it hard and make up for my slips in the next few days. Anyone have any ideas? I can do shakes with no problem, can do Clear Liquids if I need to, just haven't done well on the shake/soup combo with company here.
-
I have BC/BS and they told me they don't cover it, but true results knew what to say, and got it done. BMI had to be at a certain level and all that though.
-
So not feeling soup today! I will do it, because I know its important but not really into the idea. Shakes are much better.
-
Nine days - scheduled for the 18th. Need to go get lab work done in the next few days. Haven't done well on the liquid diet for the last couple of days. Too much socializing. At friends house, we all gather, bring food, and well.... I'm a good cook. But back at it hard today.

So - my dear husband who claims to be 100% behind me just suggested I run go get fast food! I'm on my pre-op diet, soups and shakes. Had a shake for lunch, and soup for dinner but it was early and I mentioned I wanted something... he asks what we have to snack on, and when I give him that "WTH?" look he suggest I go get something.... OMG!!! -

57? wow, that's great. I have the same fears and feelings we all do about regaining what I've lost. After all, I have lost weight over and over again, like most of us. -

Iband With Gastric Sleeve Plication
Kami76065 replied to dragonfly2009's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
excited to see several Texans, several using Dr. Smith. As far as insurance approval, the miscommunication between Dr. Smith's office and True Results as a True PITA in the beginning, but now everything is great. Rhonda said she was going to submit my insurance info on 2/29, but I called her a couple of days before to make sure she had everything, physc eval and all - she said she would wait until 3/1 because I had a pre-existing clause waiting period until 2/29. Then on 3/5 she called at 5 PM to say she was just then submitting it. 5 days seems like nothing, unless you're the one waiting. I called her on the 15th, left a message - never got a return call. Called again on the 16th and they said she was out for the week and would be back Monday. I left a message on Monday finally reached her on Thursday... Somewhere along the line someone there told me to call my insurance company. (BCBS/OK) and they are the ones that told me about the approval. When Rhonda finally called me back. I told her about the approval. She didn't have a copy of the letter but got it soon after that. Still no one has been able to tell me about out of pocket, but I'm scheduled. Guess we'll see how that goes. -

Sorry - I didn't make myself clear. I haven't had mine yet - scheduled for 4/18 w/Dr. Smith. And as sorry as I am to not be able to answer your questions, I'm equally excited to ask you the same questions. So instead of the pupil, you're the teacher! LOL How are you doing? Where was yours done? What kind of incisions? Terrible pain, or just uncomfortable?
